JOB DESCRIPTION

Your role

As a Senior Model Artist(Hard Surface), you will work closely with the Art Director, Art Lead, and Project Manager, strictly adhering to the project's artistic style guidelines and technical constraints. Your primary responsibilities will include contributing to the creation of weapons and hard-surface prop models, establishing quality standards, integrating 3D models, and optimizing final in-engine performance. Additionally, as a key member of the modeling team, you will review and refine outsourced assets, providing actionable feedback to ensure consistent progress in project production.

What you will do

  • Produce high-quality 3D hard-surface models and textures that meet project artistic and technical requirements, including but not limited to firearms, weapon attachments, props, environmental assets, vehicles, and weapon accessories.
  • Establish hard-surface modeling standards, provide solutions for pain points in different hard-surface workflows, and conduct training/mentorship for internal and external hard-surface artists.
  • Collaborate with the concept art team to identify potential risks and propose solutions for weapon and hard-surface prop designs before production begins.
  • Work closely with animation and VFX teams to ensure 3D assets meet animation and effects requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Product Manager and Art Lead to prioritize, manage, and plan daily tasks for 3D asset production.
  • Oversee outsourced 3D assets, ensuring they align with the project’s art direction, technical constraints, and deadlines while maintaining quality control.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Art (TA) team to integrate and optimize 3D models, ensuring assets achieve the intended visual quality in-engine.

QUALIFICATIONS

What you should be equipped with

  • Solid artistic and modeling foundation, with a clear and accurate understanding of AAA realistic FPS game production pipelines. Passionate about the gaming industry.
  • Expert in hard-surface modeling, with a deep understanding of topology and form. Capable of producing high-quality, technically compliant hard-surface models and textures.
  • Knowledgeable about the mechanical logic of firearms, weapon attachments, vehicles, and other machinery, ensuring models adhere to basic mechanical dynamics.
  • Proficient in industry-standard modeling software/tools, including but not limited to:
    ZBrush, Maya, HardMesh, Blender, Substance Painter, Marmoset Toolbag, 3ds Max, and Photoshop.
  • Strong grasp of PBR texture workflows and production standards.
  • Familiarity with modern military equipment, particularly modular tactical gear, firearms, and weapon attachments, with the ability to accurately recreate real-world references in 3D.
  • Fast learner, adaptable to diverse thematic modeling requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive mindset. Able to work efficiently in cross-disciplinary teams (engineering, art, design, etc.).
  • Strong written and spoken English (fluency is a plus).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Proven experience as a key contributor to 3D hard-surface asset production for successfully shipped realistic FPS titles.
  • Prior involvement in released AAA games is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional hard-surface modeling skills will be prioritized.
  • Fluent English communication (both written and spoken).
  • FPS gaming enthusiasts (especially Rainbow Six players) are preferred.
