Ubisoft La Forge
As Ubisoft’s research and development group, La Forge brings together experts from the industry and academic sector to prototype technological innovations and improve the game-making process. With this focus on applied research, we aim to fill the gap between theory and practice, while contributing to solving real-world problems through scientific publications.
The La Forge teams, located in our offices in Canada, China, and France, aim to facilitate technical prototyping based on the most recent academic research topics.
Ubisoft La Forge brings together employees and scholars who are assigned the mission of building a prototype over a few months’ time while immersed in the realities of the industry. Combining the knowledge of these two distinct but highly compatible sectors will allow for new ideas and innovative concepts to emerge.
The areas of research are aligned with Ubisoft’s core mission and technologies, and cover a wide range of subjects such as rendering, animation, AI, audio, physics and even tools to understand and manage our players. Ultimately, the prototypes created will be implemented on our productions, and the learnings will be shared with the academic sector.
