BORDEAUX, September 5, 2023 – Ubisoft and the Arts Ludiques museum are proud to present the world premiere in Bordeaux of an exhibition that highlights the exceptional artistic dimension of the new opus in the Assassin's Creed Mirage saga. A world exclusive in Bordeaux The video game Assassin's Creed Mirage has undergone impressive historical research to recreate the city of Baghdad in the 9th century, the golden age of the Abbasid Empire. This new opus marks the creation of a fascinating world that combines authenticity and imagination.
This free 9-day event exhibition will allow visitors to discover more than 70 artworks never before presented to the public, commented on by artist interviews and supplemented by costumes and accessories from the creation of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage game.
During dedicated moments, visitors will have the opportunity to meet part of the game's creative team, including Jean-Luc Sala, Artistic Director and Salomé Strappazzon, Associate Artistic Director on Assassin's Creed Mirage. The office of a Ubisoft creative director will be reconstituted for the occasion, to better share his research, his inspirations and the methodology of his artistic work.
Guided tours for a young audience will be offered by coordinators from the Franco-Quebec association Fusion Jeunesse, to begin discussions with the artistic team on site.
At the heart of a historic space of more than 200 m2, the exhibition will allow you to admire the spectacular city of Baghdad in the 9th century, unique in the world for its modernity, its refinement, and its diversity of cultures. The digital paintings will also reveal the exceptional work of the artists on light, as well as the palette of atmospheres and intensity which imbue the monuments and the characters.
A giant screen will offer visitors an overview of Baghdad, to the sound of the game's majestic soundtrack which will resonate throughout the venue.
Jean-Luc Sala, Art Director of Assassin’s Creed Mirage: “During our research on the representation of the city in the 9th century, our first observation was that nothing remained of Baghdad from that era. It was as much a challenge as an opportunity for our teams! We were able to be much more creative, to offer a celebration of this prominent architectural period. »
Jean-Jacques Launier, President of Les Arts Ludiques museum: “Video games are for me “total art”: they integrate drawing, painting, sculpture, writing, animation, staging, music, the creation of entire universes and hundreds of characters per game, the design of a game mode that transcends interactivity. No other artistic expression integrates so many creative disciplines. France is on the world podium for this artistic and cultural dynamic, it is essential to pay tribute to our artists. »
Gabriel Bran Lopez, Founding President of Fusion Jeunesse: “Fusion Jeunesse’s mission is to introduce young people to inspiring and innovative careers. With Ubisoft, the world of video game creation is opening up to them. What pride to contribute to this original and fun exhibition! »
