PHASE 3 BECOMES R6 SHARE WITH FIRST ITEM DROPS STARTING IN SEPTEMBER

September 7, 2020

As we are about to enter the Stage 2 of Rainbow Six Esport’s regional leagues for Season 2020 later this month, we are thrilled to provide an update on Phase 3, the program we revealed in February at the Six Invitational 2020 and that truly is the keystone of Ubisoft’s vision of sustainable esports for Rainbow Six Siege.

After the several months necessary to run the qualitative in-depth selection process with third parties, and thus ensure a fair and neutral evaluation process to assess all professional teams that submitted applications, we are happy to officially kick-start the program this month.

To acknowledge the evolution of Rainbow Six Siege revenue sharing that has been accomplished from the days of the Pilot Program, and to inaugurate the launch of this new structure, we made the decision to give it a new name. Phase 3 becomes: R6 SHARE.

WHAT IS R6 SHARE?

R6 Share aims at ensuring a mature and virtuous environment for partner organizations engaged in the Rainbow Six professional scene while ensuring a supportive environment for our teams and players.

Drawing from 2 years of learnings provided by Phase 1 and 2 of the Pilot Program, the revenue-sharing test-initiative first introduced in 2018, R6 SHARE will:

  • Support 42 organizations worldwide, including all organizations participating in each of the pro-level regional leagues.
  • Run for the next 4 years approximately, allowing organizations to think long-term.
  • Introduce a multi-tier support system with 3 Tiers, to adapt both revenue shares and requirements to the organizations variable situations.
  • Acknowledge organizations’ support of Rainbow Six esports with a fluid non-competition-based ranking system, performance incentives, and the flexibility to move up to a new Tier of support to award organizations who contribute to the scene’s growth and success.

R6 SHARE will provide a clear, and structured approach to supporting our valuable professional esports scene. This program will also redefine what it means to be a "Pro" team in Rainbow Six Siege through higher standards of support for and organization’s players, and for Rainbow Six Siege itself.

R6 SHARE SUPPORT TO ORGANIZATIONS

Over the course of September, we will launch the first R6 SHARE items.
30% of the net revenue on those any R6 Share item sold will be redistributed to the R6 SHARE organizations through the following methods.

  • Major items: An Operator Bundle for the November Six Major will be available at the launch of the new Rainbow Six Siege season. 30% of the net revenue from these items will contribute to the prize pool of the Major.

  • League items: for every set of League item sold, 30% of the net revenue will be split 4 ways between R6 SHARE organizations in Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. A Performance Pool is the 4th beneficiary, which will distribute the revenue it accumulates amongst top ranked organizations within each Tier.

  • Team items: for every team-branded item sold, 30% of the net revenue will be shared with the organization whose branded item is purchased. Details on the teams that were selected to be part of R6 SHARE will be communicated soon.

Stay tuned and follow @R6esports for more information on each type of items later this month.
