This Week in The Division 2 – September 11

THE SUMMIT

The Title Update 11 Public Test Server (PTS) opened for PC players on September 4 and since then there’s been a ton of discussion on and off our official forums about the new features and changes that are part of TU11. We want to take this chance to peel back the curtain a bit and explain the intentions of one particular addition, the Summit, then look at some of the changes coming to the mode.

From a top-down perspective, the Summit is meant to accommodate segmented replay-ability rather than full 100-floor marathons. Because your progress doesn’t regularly reset and there is an elevator every 10 floors, the activity allows you to pick the selection – and therefore the difficulty and loot quality – that you are most comfortable with.

If you’re looking for Heroic or Legendary content without needing to run through a mission, the higher Summit floors are there to provide. If you’re looking for a simpler, steadier experience, the early floors are open as well. You can start, stop, retread, or resume from any interval-10 floor to any other interval-10 floor you have reached in the past.

But unlike missions or other content, each time you try the Summit the floors won’t be the same. Different layouts, objectives, enemy factions, and possible directives are at your fingertips without ever having to leave the Summit activity and restart a mission or travel to a new area.

If you reach your personal limit or even floor 100, you can move back down the floors with ease – and all the progress you’ve made will still be remembered for future sessions.

A RESPONSE TO THE SUMMIT FEEDBACK

Yesterday, we published an article detailing our thoughts on the current iteration of The Summit and what we plan to do to address community concerns that have been raised for the duration of the TU11 PTS. A number of improvements went live earlier today in Wave 2 of the PTS, and more improvements are coming with Title Update 11 and beyond. For more details on our future plans for The Summit, check out this article.

SEASON EVENTS

The Division 2: Warlords of New York, Season 2 – Keener’s Legacy has been extended by a week to end on September 21. Leagues and Global Events are not impacted by the extension, but the Manhunt and Season Levels will be available for the added week.

September 8 marked the beginning of the final event of Season 2, the Guardians Global Event. The Guardians event causes enemies to be completely immune to damage until the vulnerable guardian in the fireteam is eliminated. Once you take them out, all the enemies they were protecting get shocked where they stand, giving you an easy opening to take them out while their invulnerable state is disrupted.

Each day, a new series of challenges is unlocked. Completing the challenges earns stars to unlock various caches and cosmetic rewards from the event. At 40 stars, you’ll unlock an Exotic cache and at 50, the Perfect Defense backpack trophy.

You can opt in or out of the event at any time through the Season menu while in a safe area. Challenges can only be completed with the event modifier on.

The Titan League challenges refreshed on September 8 and the league will close on September 15. Be sure to secure those rewards through the time trials and special eliminations shown in the Season menu.

That’s it for this week!

Until next time,

/ The Division 2 Development Team
