Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025

Hello everyone! AC Day 2025 is fast approaching, so we would like to express our gratitude to you, our players.

This year we’ve been overjoyed by your reaction to Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Valley of Memory. Over the past year, it’s been incredible to watch you fully immerse yourselves in these stories. Seeing how you’ve embraced the new worlds and characters with such enthusiasm inspires us to create unforgettable Assassin’s Creed experiences for you.

This AC Day, as always, we celebrate you. The players, the creators and the community that makes Assassin’s Creed what it is.

But, before we do that...

What is AC Day?

Assassin’s Creed Day is an annual celebration dedicated to the Assassin’s Creed community, honoring the players, developers and stories that have shaped the franchise over the years.

The tradition originated from the community itself and is held on December 21st, which marks the in-game (Assassin’s Creed III) date of Desmond Miles’ sacrifice for the world.

What does AC Day mean to you?

Dave: AC Day is a celebration of everything that makes this community special. It’s a chance to look back on the journey the franchise has taken us on, appreciate the friendships and connections made along the way, and look forward to what’s coming.

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

MisterAlpha444: AC Day is a chance to celebrate the community and the franchise. I hope that in the future it will also include cool events for all fans.

Val: It's a nice way to celebrate this series that gave us so much. It’s a date to cheer and remember how much I love it and how much I owe it personally and professionally. To also look back at this journey and realize what we achieved together.

Marco: Quite a lot. AC Day is something that has emerged naturally from the community, and when that happens, it can lead to beautiful things. Communities gather together; content creators create content specifically for this day; fanarts appear on our timelines, and there’s an overall feeling of happiness and fun.

Something Access The Animus tries to do, especially on AC Day, is to share what the community members and creators have organized to celebrate this special day. Trying to bring our own small spotlight on fan creations and celebrate what was made by fans.

Wolfie: AC Day is exciting as it grows through the years. It’s a day where we fans can celebrate this franchise together. From the AC Subreddit Marathon, to seeing art and cosplay creations, watching fan videos and listening to other people talk about why they love the games is so heartwarming. We all love the games for various reasons but we are all fans together. It’s so nice and it makes being a part of the community extra special.

What drew you into the Assassin’s Creed series and/or community?

Dave: I was drawn in by the depth of storytelling, the historical settings, the way the series blends philosophy, identity and personal conflict. The characters felt real; the lore was rich and the community surrounding it was unlike any other in the gaming community.

MisterAlpha444: I’ve been a fan since day one, but it wasn’t until 2012 that I got to play every Assassin’s Creed game up to Assassin’s Creed III, as I finally had a PlayStation 3! Starting with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, I’ve bought each release at launch. What really excites me about Assassin’s Creed is the atmosphere, the storytelling, the plot twists, the ancient civilizations and the charm of the characters. I’m particularly addicted to the stealth and I love the combat kill animations – they've really shaped the content I create.

Val: I loved Assassin’s Creed at first sight. The atmosphere, the environment, the design, the soundtrack and the characters! Everything was so DIFFERENT from any other game I've played before; I became addicted immediately!

The visual, artistic side of this series really speaks to my soul. I always get inspired while playing and I always feel the urge to create something. That's how I started! Sharing my art online, finding other fans like me who love this series and enjoy connecting with each other.

Marco: Several reasons! I’ve been interested in both video games and history since I was a kid, and in 2007 I was amazed to see that both of my passions could merge so seamlessly with the first Assassin’s Creed.

On top of that, the interconnection between historical settings and present-day events – the idea that actions in the past can have consequences in our time – was something that had always intrigued me in many books I used to read. Seeing those fascinating concepts brought into video games, which had always been one of my strongest passions, got me hooked on the series quickly and intensely. And when Assassin’s Creed II was announced to be set in Italy, my home country, that completely sealed the deal!

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

As for the community, I was drawn to it by a desire to share my thoughts on some of the story elements, to see if others enjoyed the same aspects and to discover different points of view. I joined several Italian communities in 2010–2011, and it was such an engaging experience. Daily discussions about the games, storylines, gameplay and news became part of my routine. Although much has changed since then, and even more so after starting my own community (Access The Animus) with several other admins in 2013, the feeling of passionately discussing something I share with so many people around the world has never faded.

Wolfie: In 2015, a friend of my husband suggested he play Assassin’s Creed III. I watched him play for a bit and then started playing it myself. I enjoyed it right away but it was Haytham taking a leap of faith that captivated me. I immediately bought all the other games and played them in order. I sought out other fans and discovered the AC Subreddit where I enjoyed sharing tips and helping other players. In 2018, I applied for a moderator position and was accepted. My fellow AC Subreddit mods are some of the best people I know. Being a part of this community has been so rewarding and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.

What’s the most rewarding part of creating a space for Assassin’s Creed fans to connect?

Dave: The most rewarding part is seeing fans from all over the world come together over a shared love of the series. Whether they’re discovering Assassin’s Creed for the first time or have been here since the beginning, creating a space where people feel welcomed, heard, and excited to share their passion is incredibly fulfilling.

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

Marco: The most rewarding moments are when a community member feels our content has helped them in some way. Content creation can be tough and often requires long hours, so seeing comments from fans who enjoy what we make, find it helpful and appreciate the effort we put into delivering the most detailed and curated content makes it all worth it.

What’s been your favorite moment being part of the Assassin’s Creed Community?

Dave: My favorite moment has been connecting with so many passionate fans and seeing how the series inspires people creatively - whether through art, writing, cosplay or genuine conversation. Those shared moments of excitement, especially around major announcements or reveals, really stand out.

MisterAlpha444: The absolute highlight was winning the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Stealth Challenge, which brought me closer to Ubisoft and the developers and was an unforgettable experience. Being nominated in the Top 5 was already an incredible feeling. Winning, however, was a dream come true. I hope that winning the challenge opens doors to connect even more with the community.

Val: Being seen and validated for my passion. I can’t describe what it means to be asked to collaborate with Assassin’s Creed. I never take it for granted. It's always an honor and a surprise for me when I'm asked to create something, that's why I was super excited and eager to be the one chosen to make this special piece for the festive season!

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

It's my favorite part of the year and I always enjoy making special treats and art about it. So, I can't believe that this year it will be my own piece that offers fellow fans best wishes for this holiday season!

Every time I create, I always ask myself "What would I like to see as a fan?". That’s why the most fun part was hiding easter eggs here and there! I hope the fans will like it and find them all!

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

As for my favorite moment in the community, I've met some of my favorite people through Assassin's Creed. Closest friends, people that I can call family, all thanks to this series. The nice part is that wherever you go, if you find someone else from this Community, you feel welcome and at home with them, always.

Marco: That’s a tough question, as there have been so many over the years. If I had to pick one, it would be when we at Access The Animus organized several fan-focused events with Ubisoft at Gamescom, all aimed at bringing people together. We hosted cosplay gatherings, art and fanart contests, lore trivia sessions, and the highlight was the Community Dinner; a relaxed evening where fans and developers could sit together, chat, and enjoy a break from the formal interviews and the seriousness of public events. We even prepared activities during dinner and each participant received an Assassin’s Creed-themed print as a keepsake. It was amazing to see fans getting their prints signed by developers, and developers asking fans for signatures too, so they could keep a memento of their own!

Like I said, it’s all about people and memories.

Wolfie: I have so many favorite moments! Here are a few:

In 2022, I was invited to join the Assassin’s Creed Mentors Guild and attend the Ubisoft Forward event in person in Montreal. There, I met other fans as well as members of the AC team, including Darby McDevitt. Everyone was so welcoming and wonderful!

I’ve also helped coordinate two community fan-run fundraisers; one was for the breast cancer research fund for AC Sisterhood and the other which was started by AC Landmarks was for the Turkey & Syria earthquake relief. The Assassin’s Creed Community and Ubisoft were so generous with their donations and efforts. I am so proud to have been involved.

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

In early 2024, I was accepted as a moderator on the official Assassin’s Creed Discord server. Being a mod there has opened other doors for me and has allowed me to interact with more fans and more Assassin’s Creed Devs.

And finally, I have attended other community events, done play testing and have given feedback directly to the developers. It’s truly an honor to participate and to think that they want to know what I have to say is so wonderful! I love this community!

What keeps you coming back to the franchise after all these years?

Dave: The franchise has a unique way of evolving while still staying connected to its roots. The mix of history, mythology and modern-day narrative always pulls me back in. Plus, the community’s conversations, theories, and new releases keep the world of Assassin’s Creed feeling alive and ever expanding.

MisterAlpha444: Assassin’s Creed has become part of my life and my gaming experience. I love exploring the beautifully crafted historical worlds and I value the gameplay just as much: how each game evolves, the cool finishers and the connections between the different settings and characters.

Val: Assassin's Creed to me is like family. We can part for a while, we might not talk every day but I keep coming back because it's my comfort thing. It's a safe place.

It shaped the artist that I am today in so many ways. I feel like I owe a lot to this series, so I always try to give something back to the franchise/community.

I also have a very strong bond with the people that are part of the Assassin's Creed Cosplay Italia Community; they are my second family. We support each other and we share the hype, the passion and joy about this series. That's why I'm still stuck in it; the people.

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

Marco: Of course, exploring history and its connection to modern times, along with the story and lore elements of the franchise and the games themselves, is a big part of it. But for me, it’s all about the people. It’s all about discussing something I love and enjoy with other fellow fans and at times with the developers and dev teams. It’s about meeting at gaming conventions, building relationships and friendships over time, and sharing moments and memories over the years that will stay with me forever. After all, what is a man but the sum of his memories?

Wolfie: The games drew me in, but it’s the people in the community that keep me here. I’ve made some wonderful friendships through the years and I’ll always cherish that. In the early days when I was discovering the series, places like the AC Subreddit or AC Wiki were great sources of information. I kept running across the names of people that I found to be helpful. I hope that new players in the series find me to be helpful to them. Just as in Black Flag, Edward comes to realize that it’s people who are the true treasures in life, I immensely adore all my Assassin’s Creed family members. It’s the community that keeps me hanging around.

And finally, there’s no better way to finish an AC Day article than to ask this very important question... What is your favorite Assassin’s Creed game, and why?

Dave: My favorite Assassin’s Creed game is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The mix of naval exploration, Edward Kenway’s compelling character arc, and the balance between freedom and story makes it unforgettable. It’s a game that captures both the spirit of adventure and the heart of the Assassin’s Creed universe.

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

MisterAlpha444: My favorite is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, particularly because of the Kenway Trilogy. I loved playing Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Connor, and Haytham’s father. The story isn’t about revenge, which I really appreciate, and I loved naval combat and how well Edward’s character was realized. But mostly I love how badass Edward is. I loved how he moved and all his finisher animations.

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

Val: It's hard to pick just one, but my top three is: Assassin's Creed II, because I think it's THE Assassin's Creed game. The story, the characters, the design, the setting and the soundtrack are so perfect that it's impossible to say otherwise.
Assassin's Creed III, because Connor is my favorite Assassin. I love his heartbreaking story, his outfit, and his personality. He never backs down, even when everyone else does and he stays true to himself. That truly inspired me in my own life. Also, he has a bow!
Assassin's Creed Origins, because I just LOVE the setting, Egyptian's culture, the colors, the attires, Bayek and Aya's story, I felt so attached to them and it was like traveling back in time to discover that civilization. It was just majestic. Also, the artistry is at an insanely high level.

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

Wolfie: My favorite Assassin’s Creed game is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The story is so good! It masterfully weaves all the expected Assassin’s Creed elements like Assassins vs Templars, the hunt for the piece of Eden artifact, Shaun and Rebecca in the Modern Day, and introduces the new concept of sages. We’re taken on a journey as we watch Edward change from a lovable scoundrel of a pirate to making his choice to become an Assassin. The game has such wonderful characters, like Blackbeard and Mary Read, and the superb voice acting brings them to life so beautifully. The Naval combat is a lot of fun, and of course, the sea shanties add to the charm of sailing around the beautiful waters of the Caribbean. I appreciate Edward’s realization that he needs people around him; his story means so much to me. The game itself is one that I will always treasure and will probably always remain my favorite

[AC Franchise] Celebrating Assassin’s Creed Day 2025 - img

Marco: Ah, the toughest question. If I had to pick one, it would be Assassin’s Creed II – it’s where my real passion for Assassin’s Creed started to grow, when I realized this was going to be a franchise with an overarching narrative that could span the whole of human history, and that had modern day and science fiction elements that had me glued to the screen. And again, it was set in my own country, so…
