Assassin's Creed Shadows - Launching on Nintendo Switch 2 this week!

Assassin's Creed Shadows is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2, 2025, bringing Naoe and Yasuke's adventure in feudal Japan to Nintendo players.  

The Nintendo Switch 2 version has been carefully optimized to preserve the richness of Shadows' experience while embracing the freedom of playing anywhere, anytime.  

Here's everything you need to know. 

AVAILABLE CONTENT

At release, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Assassin's Creed Shadows will be fully up to date with all post‑launch content released since the game's debut. Players can dive straight into the complete adventure and enjoy the latest improvements brought by the team such as: 

• An enhanced parkour system with improved side and back ejects, and new mechanics like the catch ledge or the vertical jump. 
• New Game +, allowing you to replay the full game while keeping your progression intact.   
• A new "Nightmare" difficulty setting, making enemies smarter, faster, and more aggressive, requiring perfect parry timing in combat and more caution in stealth. 
• The limited-time Attack on Titan collaboration, available until December 22! 
• And much more!  

The only exception is the Claws of Awaji expansion, which will arrive later in 2026. Stay tuned for updates.  

NINTENDO SWITCH 2 FEATURES & OPTIMIZATION

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Assassin's Creed Shadows introduces several Switch‑specific features designed to make your experience seamless and intuitive: 

• Touchscreen controls for menus, maps, store, and hideout navigation.  
• Targets 30fps in both docked and handheld modes for smooth gameplay.  
• Once installed (using an internet connection), play offline in both docked and handheld modes.  

Please note that the game is available as a game‑key card release. This means the physical card provides a digital key to download the complete game onto the console, ensuring optimal data streaming performance.

CARRY YOUR PROGRESSION ANYWHERE

On Nintendo Switch 2, Assassin's Creed Shadows supports cross‑progression across all platforms via Ubisoft Connect. This means your adventure is never tied to a single device; save games can be retrieved and continued seamlessly, whether you're playing on console, PC, or Nintendo Switch 2.  

The in‑game store offers are identical across platforms, so items purchased with Helix Credits on Switch 2 will be shared across all other platforms linked to the same Ubisoft Connect account, and vice versa (however, Helix Credits themselves are not transferable between platforms).
