YOUR EVENT GUIDE TO THE SIX INVITATIONAL 2021

With the Six Invitational Qualifiers behind us, we’re thrilled to provide you more insights about the Six Invitational 2021. For its fifth edition, the World Championship of Rainbow Six Siege will be held in Paris, France, from February 9th to 21st, 2021. The pinnacle of the Rainbow Six Siege competitive year will see the world’s best teams compete to be crowned World Champions. Throughout the year, all participating players and coaches have tirelessly worked towards one purpose: be the last team standing on-stage to lift the coveted hammer at the end of competition.

Beyond a tournament, the Six Invitational is a celebration of the Rainbow Six community and we can’t wait to share this moment with the Siege family altogether. Throughout the event, you’ll get a glimpse at everything we have in store in Year 6, including a few surprises. The event will feature developer panels on the game and the esports scene, as well as renowned content creators from the community.

BASICS

LOCATION

To comply with the health and safety regulations, the Six Invitational 2021 will not host any audience on-site.

  • Group Stage: Players’ hotel, behind closed doors
  • Playoffs: Stay tuned, the venue of the Playoffs will be revealed soon.

DATES

  • February 9th to February 14th: Group Stage. To comply with the guidelines of the health organizations and local authorities, this phase will be broadcasted from the players’ hotel.

  • February 17th to February 21st: Playoffs. More details about the playoffs schedule will be shared later on.

HEALTH & SAFETY

The Six Invitational 2021 will gather 20 teams coming from the 4 main regions of the Rainbow Six Esports circuit, competing in a LAN environment, in France. The health and well-being of our pro players, staff, partners and fans is our top priority, this is why there will be no live audience on site and the event and all its participants will follow strict sanitary safety measures.

For the past few months, we have been tirelessly working with our partner Live Nation, the health and safety agency ACEPS, the medical assistance agency ISMA and the French Government, in order to develop a controlled, safe and competitive offline environment in line with the guidelines of the health organizations and local authorities. Below are the different actions that will be taken to ensure everyone’s safety. We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver gold-standard safety measures.

Health and safety measures may be updated up until the event, based on the evolution of the local authorities guidelines.

Before the event:

  • A minimum of 7 days of self-isolation highly recommended for all players before departure.
  • Negative PCR test to provide in order to be allowed by authorities to fly into France – 72 hours prior to arrival.

During the event:

Players Guidelines

  • A maximum of 6 people per team authorized to come to the offline event.
  • Upon arrival, self-isolation at the hotel for all players based on local authorities guidelines.
  • All players have individual hotel rooms.
  • Strict separation between teams. Players from one team will not mix with other teams during the event.
  • Regular PCR and rapid tests for all players during the event.
  • PCR test before the departure flight.
  • Strict departure rule: in order to limit as much as possible the number of people in the venue, all eliminated teams will exit the event upon their elimination and will leave France within the following 48 hours.
  • Masks: players will wear masks at all times, except when playing on stage and during interviews.

Sites Guidelines

  • Restrictions are applied to limit the number of people on site at any given moment.
  • All equipment within the venue will be rigorously sanitized daily at the beginning and end of each day.
  • Additionally, the competition areas will be sanitized before and after each match.
  • Sanitation of interview equipment and area before and after each interview session.
  • Frequent sanitation of all high-touch surfaces.
  • Presence of a Covid Manager on site for the entire duration of the event.
  • A doctor will be present on site for the entire duration of the event.
  • Permanent presence of first-aid workers trained in COVID management - systematic temperature taking.

Protocols for all people working on-site

  • Two documents will be made available to each:
    • General instructions reminding the national instructions and official recommendations.
    • Specific instructions adapted to each site and to the competition schedule.
  • Face masks required at all times.
  • Social distancing.
  • Set up of a sign-off sheet of "Acknowledgement of the General and Specific Instructions for any person who accesses the venue"

Specific scenarios and actions:

Participating teams will face competitive sanctions, up to the dismissal from the site and the disqualification entirely from the competition, should they fail to comply with the safety instructions at any moment during the event.

UPDATE: If a player tests positive during the event, the full team will be removed or disqualified from the competition. We’re convinced this additional reinforcement of our sanitary measures is essential to ensure the safety of the other teams and our staff. In that scenario, the disqualified team would be provided the necessary support to ensure they are repatriated in optimal safety conditions for them and the general public.

COMPETITIVE FORMAT

Due to the global pandemic, this year’s Six Invitational will be the first Rainbow Six Siege cross-regional competition since the Six Invitational 2020. We are eager to see how the different regions have evolved over the past year and how they measure up against one another on stage. The Six Invitational 2021 will gather 19 teams and its format has been changed to increase the number of matches and have the most accurate seeding before kicking-off the Playoffs.

All teams will start competing in the Group Stage where they will be dispatched in 2 groups. In total, 81 matches will be played between the four regions throughout the Group Stage.

At the end of the Group Stage, the 8 best teams from each group will qualify for the Playoffs. More details below:

Group Stage (February 9 – 14)

Initially, The Six Invitational 2021 was a 20-team competition. The teams were dispatched in 2 groups of 10 teams as follows:

  • The top 4 teams of the Global Standings (BDS, Cloud9, TSM, Giants Gaming) were cross-seeded in Group A & B
  • Based on the Global standings as well, a random draw was made in this specific order to dispatch the 16 other teams in Group A and B:
    • Top 5-8
    • Top 8-16
    • 4 qualifiers

SI2021 Group pool complete

Despite our joint efforts with the team as well as the local authorities to find solutions, Wildcard Gaming has not been given the greenlight to travel by their government and will not be able to compete at the event. Therefore, we took the difficult decision to adapt the Six Invitational 2021 to a 19-team format.

Each team in Group A will play 9 games and each team in Group B – composed of one team less – will play 8 games. The 8 best teams of each group, 16 teams in total, will advance to the playoffs, while the 2 bottom teams will be eliminated. Given the large number of matches and the number of teams advancing to the Playoffs, the Group Stage will consist of a Best-of-one single round robin.

Playoffs (February 17– 21)

This phase will consist of a double elimination bracket. All Playoffs matches will be played in best-of-three. Following the Group Stage, the top 4 teams of Group A and B will battle it out in the upper bracket, while the teams ranked between the 5th and 8th positions in each group will fall into the lower bracket.

The Grand Final will consist of a best-of-five match with a map advantage to the upper bracket team and unlimited overtime.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS

Despite our joint efforts with the team as well as the local authorities to find solutions, Wildcard Gaming has not been given the greenlight to travel by their government and will not be able to compete at the event. Therefore, we took the difficult decision to adapt the Six Invitational 2021 to a 19-team format.
