r6 esports in 2026: a new era of global competition

As we move into the final months of Season 2025, and look ahead to 2026, we're excited to share an early look at the future of Rainbow Six Esports. This upcoming season introduces structural updates across every tier of competition, focused on improving competitive clarity and expanding opportunities for teams at all levels. From the first Challenger Series match to the final race for the Six Invitational, the 2026 season is built as one connected global journey. Our goal is to give a clearer view about what's changing, why it's changing, and how these updates shape the path to international competition.

what's new in 2026?

  • A year-long global calendar with a consistent flow of competition
  • Challenger Series now runs February-March with a unified format
  • New Season Kickoff in April sets the tone and awards early SI Points
  • Two regular Majors (May & November), plus EWC as a Mid-Season competition in August
  • Regional Stages run June-July and September-October across all regions
  • Teams qualify for SI through SI Points earned during the season, with a direct spot awarded to the EWC champion

a year packed with action

The 2026 season is designed to keep the competition flowing all year long. Here's what's coming:

2026 Roadmap

challenger series: february-march

The Challenger Series opens the competitive year, giving top Tier 2 teams of the 2025 circuits, open qualifier rosters, and relegated Tier 1 squads clear opportunity to fight their way back to the highest level of play. Details on Open Qualifier sign-ups will be shared in the coming weeks.

season kickoff: april

The Season Kickoff is a brand-new addition to the competitive calendar and serves as the first major test of the year for Tier 1 teams. This short, high-stakes stage sets the tone for the season, with no room for slow starts. At stake are SI Points, qualification spots for the May Major, and a prize pool, all delivered through a fast-paced format where every match counts. Strong performances here can define a team's trajectory for the rest of the season.

six majors: may & november

We heard your feedback, and the May Major is back! In 2026 two global Majors will bring the best teams from every region together for intense international showdowns.

ewc as a mid-season competition: august

Over the past two years, the Esports World Cup has grown into a major fixture in the global esports industry and on the Rainbow Six Esports calendar, with our top-tier teams consistently competing on its stage. Beginning in 2026, we are formally integrating EWC into the R6 esports circuit as a Mid-Season competition. As part of this change, while the event won't award SI points across all placements, the winning team will not only secure their share of the prize pool but will also be the first team of the season to earn direct qualification to the Six Invitational, raising the event stakes even higher.

regional stages: june-july & september-october

This year, every placement in regional stages earns SI Points, so rankings aren't just for pride, they're the key to qualify for the Six Invitational. Each match is critical, and consistency across stages can make or break your season.

Regional league finals will not return in 2026. As we streamline our calendar with additional international events and more action in the regional leagues, SI Points are now the primary way teams qualify for the Six Invitational, making consistent regional performance more important than ever.

why this matters

2026 isn't just about more tournaments, it's about creating a competitive structure that feels fair, exciting, and rewarding for players and fans alike. This year will be one of the most dynamic in Rainbow Six Esports' history, with clear qualification paths, global events, and opportunities for emerging talent. More details about the 2026 season will be shared at the upcoming Six Invitational.
