Our Talents at UDC, GDC and UX Summit 2025

At Ubisoft, taking part in major industry events goes far beyond keeping up with trends or increasing external visibility. It is also a concrete way to give our talents a voice, highlight their expertise, and offer real opportunities for both professional and personal growth; in France and internationally.

At our Annecy studio, supporting this development is a priority. That’s why several team members took part in key internal and international events this year, either as attendees or speakers.
Here’s a look back at their experiences.

Ubisoft Developers Conference (UDC)

Sharing expertise, gaining visibility, opening new perspectives

The Ubisoft Developers Conference (UDC) is an internal event designed as an open and accessible space for sharing, where teams from across the group can present their projects, methods, and learnings.

For Evgeny and Adrian, UDC 2025 was an opportunity to present the work they did on Star Wars Outlaws, in an environment that actively encourages initiative and knowledge sharing.

“We had just come out of the production of Star Wars Outlaws, with a feature that players really enjoyed. UDC felt like the right moment to share that experience and the lessons we learned from it.” Evgeny Dozov

Speaking at UDC doesn’t require being a “professional speaker.” The event is designed to help anyone take the stage, with support and guidance throughout the process.

“If you take the leap and present, you gain a much deeper understanding of your own work — and you have a real chance to help other teams do better.” Evgeny Dozov

Building connections beyond the screen

In a context where teams often collaborate remotely, UDC also plays an important role on a human level.
“Even with colleagues we’d worked with for years, it was sometimes the first time we really spent time together. It completely changes the relationship.” Evgeny Dozov

When a conference changes your life

“I also wanted to see what Montreal was like, as part of a longer-term life plan. That experience became the first step of a project that led me to move to Montreal.” Adrian Zambaux

Following this experience, we supported Adrian throughout the process, helping him make his project a reality through internal mobility to our Montreal studio. Working at Ubisoft also means being part of a global network of studios, where career paths can evolve and take on new momentum.

Game Developers Conference (GDC)

Taking expertise onto the international stage

Alexis Crickx, 3D Programmer

[Studio Annecy] UDC, GDC and UX Summit 2025 GDC

The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is one of the world’s largest events in the video game industry. Speaking there represents a rare opportunity for international visibility.

For Alexis, GDC 2025 was both a personal challenge and a strong recognition of his expertise.

“I had been following GDC talks for years. Attending in person, and presenting a talk myself, was incredibly motivating.”
We actively support our speakers through dedicated preparation time and coaching, ensuring they have the best possible conditions to succeed.
“It’s an extremely rewarding exercise, especially when it comes to learning how to explain and make advanced technical concepts accessible.”
Beyond the stage, GDC is also a place for intense exchanges with professionals from all over the world — including other Ubisoft teams.
“Without knowledge sharing between studios, we’d move much more slowly and wouldn’t go as far in tackling the technical challenges of our industry.”

UX Summit

Opening up, challenging assumptions, growing together

Eloi Duclercq, User Researcher

[Studio Annecy] UDC, GDC and UX Summit 2025 UXSummit

The UX Summit is a key event for user experience professionals. It offers a space to compare practices, share methods, and step back from day-to-day work.

For Eloi Duclercq, the event reflects Ubisoft’s strong commitment to continuous improvement and openness to external perspectives.

“Talking with other professionals helps put things into perspective and makes it easier to adapt our methods to Ubisoft’s specific context.”

One essential reminder echoed throughout the discussions:

“Players are the reason we create games, and sometimes, we tend to forget that.”

This mindset benefits far more than just UX roles.

“Even for other disciplines, being immersed in a strong user-centered culture helps adopt perspectives we sometimes lose sight of.”

Empowering growth, individually and collectively

Whether internal or international, all these experiences share a common thread: we invest concretely in our people.

Giving access to the stage, encouraging knowledge sharing, supporting mobility, and enabling everyone to gain visibility and grow, these are core pillars of our culture.
