Welcome, new Agents!

The Division 2 has entered the Xbox Game Pass roster, and we have a Free Weekend on PlayStation, Xbox, Ubisoft Connect, Epic, and GFN from May 29^th until Jun 2^nd. To make the deployment to Washington as smooth as possible for our new agents, we have some info to share and activities taking place.

Help a New Player Contest

If you want to connect with fellow agents or have a question to ask the community, our official Discord server is the best place to do so.

We've added a new channel (#new-agent-tips-contest) fueled with the best tips and tricks from experienced players. Veteran players sharing tips between May 29^th and Jun 5^th will have a chance to win an Ultimate Edition code (including the new DLC Battle for Brooklyn) to gift a friend and their choice of either the Crime or Punishment cosmetic bundle!

Answer the Call for Backup agents!

The Shepherd XP event is ongoing until Jun 2^nd. During this time, make sure your On Call Status is on and answer when players call for backup, as the Shepherd XP is boosted, making you eligible for endorsements faster.

In addition, if you are level 40, you'll get access to a project chain running for two weeks where you'll gain rewards by simply helping fellow agents in need, and by doing so, advancing your Shepherd's rank.

Once you complete a project, the next one unlocks immediately - so if you're receiving a lot of endorsements, it's possible to progress through multiple projects in quick succession.

We've also increased the number of Auto-Endorsements you receive, from 1 to 3, to make sure you feel rewarded for your contribution.

Be mindful that due to the event, calls are getting answered quickly, and it might take some time until your help is requested.

What dates are the Free Weekend?

What platforms offer the free weekend?

PlayStation, Xbox, Ubisoft Connect, Epic, and GFN.

What is the Xbox Game Pass Perk?

During a limited time starting May 29^th, Xbox Game Pass owners will get the EMS Outfit.

Will Free Weekend and Xbox Game Pass grant access to the new DLC, Battle for Brooklyn?

No, you will have access to the base game. The new DLC Battle for Brooklyn will need to be bought separately. If you decide to buy the game, the new Gold and Ultimate edition includes the DLC.

Will my progress be saved if I buy the game?

Yes, all progress made on Xbox Game Pass or during the Free Weekend will carry over if you purchase the game.

What do I do in The Division 2?

Are there any onboarding materials?

The game will guide you through your journey in Washington D.C.. New features will unlock as you progress, so make sure you read any prompts and pop-ups, as they may help to get an advantage over the threats that roam.

I have issues with the game. What do I do?

We update our Known Issues Board as soon as we're informed of and understand the issue - please note that this board focuses on the most frequently reported community concerns, so it may not reflect every individual issue. You can find the board here.

What is the Shepherd System?

The Shepherd System is made of Shepherd XP and endorsements that you receive by helping other players when answering their calls for backup. The Shepherd XP fills a bar that, once full, grants you automated endorsements + optional endorsements. The endorsements make you go up in Shepherd rank.

How do I answer Calls for Backup?

By going into the SHD Tab of the Mega Map, you can change your On Call Status. 

• "All" will make it so you receive notifications of Calls for Backup from any Agent. 
• "Friends & Clan" will make it so you receive notifications from Agents in your Friends list and Clan.
  • Do note that you cannot receive endorsements from friends or clan members.
• "None" will make it so you do not receive any Call for Backup notifications. 

The notification for an incoming call shows in the bottom left corner. Open the Mega Map to see more information about the call.

Once in the Mega Map, you can see more information about the incoming call and have the option to answer the call.

For a more consistent way of answering Calls for Backup, you can go to the Matchmake Tab of the Mega Map and choose to Matchmake for "Random Calls for Backup". This will start to matchmake you for any calls, and you will automatically be connected to the other Agent's session once a match is found.

Fast traveling between maps or entering "No respawn zones" within Missions will automatically stop Matchmaking. 

How does the Shepherd System work?

Once in another Agent's session, XP received from any content will fill the Shepherd XP bar. Once full, you will receive Automatic Endorsements, and the other Agent will be given the choice of endorsing you, providing one further Endorsement if they choose to. 

The Agent who Called for Backup will receive a notification that the player who joined is eligible for an Endorsement; they can either accept to endorse or postpone the choice. If they choose to postpone, they can endorse them later by going to the Social Tab in their Pause Menu, selecting the other Agent's name, and endorsing them. 

Endorsements progress you through Shepherd Ranks. You can see your Shepherd Rank and current number of Endorsements in the SHD Tab of the Mega Map.
