Specialization #5: Technician

Agents!

Today, we are introducing the newest Specialization coming to The Division 2 with Episode 2: the Technician. Armed with the Multi Missile Launcher Signature Weapon, the Technician is an electronics enthusiast who's sure to introduce new playstyles to the streets of D.C.

The Multi Missile Launcher fires a volley of homing missiles that seek their targets. Simply acquire your targets and let the missiles fly!

The Technician is also equipped with the Artificer Hive skill variant. Unique amongst the Hive variants, the Artificer Hive targets friendly skills, including held skills (Shield/Chem Launcher). This variant buffs skill damage and/or skill healing, resets skill duration, and repairs skills. The skill works whilst on your back, targeting only your skills; or deployed, targeting both your skills and those of your allies.

Don't forget that the Technician also comes with an entirely new Specialization tree and the new Maxim 9 sidearm!

SPECIAL FIELD RESEARCH

Similar to the Gunner Specialization, you need to take on Special Field Research to unlock Technician: five stages of in-game challenges, each with their own set of objectives and rewards. By completing all five stages, you will gain access to the Technician Specialization and the newest signature weapon in the SHD arsenal.

If you have the Year 1 Pass, you will instantly unlock the Technician Specialization. You can still take on the Special Field Research, but as you progress through the stages you will unlock additional, exclusive cosmetic rewards—the Baseball Pitcher and Swinger emotes, the Barrage and Ballistic weapon skins, the Technician NVG mask and Shuttle Signature Weapon skin.

CHANGES TO GUNNER FIELD RESEARCH

If you haven't had the opportunity to play the Gunner Specialization, don't worry! With Episode 2, we are trimming down the objectives needed to complete the entire Field Research. The Gunner ‘Specialization Pack' will also be reduced to 1000 Premium Credits with the launch of Episode 2.

FAQ:

  • Since Pass holders get immediate access to the specialization, doesn't this create a gameplay advantage?

Specializations have abilities and specialized weapons tailored to specific playstyles. Though Year 1 Pass owners will have the benefit of instant access to new Specializations, all players will be able to unlock them through gameplay. All Specializations have different strengths and weaknesses, and appeal to different playstyles and tactical situations. The new Specializations will offer the same tier of power as other Specializations.

  • Is Year 1 Pass the only option to instantly access the specialization and earning the cosmetic rewards?

Players interested in the Technician specialization access and earnable cosmetic rewards, can either secure it through the Year 1 Pass, or purchase a Technician ‘Specialization Pack' for Premium Credits on the in-game store. This entitles them to the same benefits for the Technician specialization.

  • Can I still get the cosmetic rewards if I start the Specialization Field Research without the Pass?

Yes, you can upgrade to the Year 1 Pass at any point. The moment you get the Year 1 Pass, you will immediately unlock Technician (if you have not finished the Research just yet), as well as get the cosmetic rewards you have earned, depending on which stage you are at.

Even if you unlocked the Specialization without the Pass, once you purchase it, you will immediately unlock all cosmetic rewards.

Until next time,
