SIX INVITATIONAL 2019: INTERVIEW WITH PENTA

We took time to sit down with PENTA’s roster and asked them questions about preparation and mindset leading up to the Six Invitational.

PENTA has been one of the good surprises of the second half of Pro League Season 8, quickly finding chemistry in their new roster. What are your ambitions for the Six Invitational 2019 ?

Revan: Our ambitions for the Six Invitational are simple! We have to win our first two games to be on the stage and continue to the finals. We are currently third in the rankings Pro League, we have proved that we deserve this place and now we need to show the work we have done throughout this mid season! We are very happy that the team is doing well with the arrival of our last player, there is a perfect chemistry in the whole team like a family. We are looking forward to meeting all the fans who will be present at the six invitational, so do not hesitate to come and say hello!

Your team stepped up during the DreamHack Winter, offering a hard fought battle against G2 esports. What were the learnings from this first LAN event as a team?

Sirboss : First of all we went to bootcamp before the event and we learned a lot but most importantly communication and team play. Secondly, during the event we had some ups and downs but we managed to overcome them, stand back up and win the match. We learned to never give up. Lastly, we learned how important adapting and counter-adapting to our opponents is. This made it possible for us to work alongside our coach and each other more effectively against different opponents, which we began to do at DreamHack Winter. The event was a big step for us, where we made a lot of improvements whether we had made Six Invitational or not.

You added Blas to your starting-team since the beginning of the Pro League Season IX. What progress has been made since his arrival on the team ?

ENEMY: Blas integrated very well and it was a unanimous decision to bring him on board. He brings robustness in duels and calm within the team, and he is also a serene and good listener. With Blas on the team we are able to fill the fragging role excellently. He fits into the team fluently and most importantly helps up reach new levels of gameplay. He works well with all the teammates and communicates strongly, which is something we needed to get ourselves to the top 3 in all of Europe. We believe we can work with Blas long term to achieve strong outcomes within all events and Pro League.

PENTA fell in the tough group D, with Evil Geniuses, NORA Rengo and LeStream. As most of you never competed against an APAC team, how are you preparing to play against NORA-Rengo ?

Blas:: It's going to be a really tough match. We are up against probably the most aggressive team in the world with the best aimers in it. Our work will be focused on team mentality and cohesion. To do this, our preparation requires us to focus on our teamwork, positioning, clean communication and ensuring we are in positions to refrag each other where necessary. All of this preparation takes place with hours of practice, which we are lucky enough to have together at our training centre before flying to the Six Invitational.

At the Six Invitational, there will be teams attending from all the regions. Who would you pick to create your all-star roster?

Hungry: Personally I would go with the same roster I am playing with right now, but if I can’t choose the same again and if there is no language barrier between the players, my first choice would be Pengu as a IGL, because he can communicate really good and fast. He has really good ideas as well. As a entry fragger I would go with Nesk or Kanto. Best support player in my opinion is goga, he is communicating really well and he is taking care of his teammates. So as a flex player I would say UUNO is a good choice. I mean there are such as good player out there, but it’s probably hard to find the right persons to play in a team with. All these players with myself would be a good team.
