PLAYER PROTECTION CORE RULES

Rainbow Six Siege is a competitive game built on skill, strategy, and teamwork. To protect that experience for everyone and ensure fairness in matches, we enforce a clear set of Core Rules: if you break these rules, you may face consequences, up to and including a permanent ban on all accounts.

Siege's Core Rules are nothing new. However, as our community continues to grow, our Player Protection efforts become stronger, and Competitive playlists continue to evolve, we felt it was the right time for a refresher.

The following article details the actions that are forbidden in Siege, along with the possible sanctions associated with violations of the Core Rules.

PLAY FAIR

These rules exist to protect competitive integrity and Community safety that make Siege worth playing. We're committed to enforcing them consistently, and we expect every player to hold up their end. Everyone can play their part in the fight for Fairness in Siege: keep reporting in-game, your data is essential to keep improving Player Protection's features & tools.

PROHIBITED BEHAVIORS

The following behaviors are prohibited. This list may be updated over time, and if your actions violate the spirit of fair play and player safety, they can still result in a sanction even if not explicitly listed below. Note that these rules are complementary to the official Ubisoft Code of Conduct.

CHEATING

Cheating covers the use, attempted use, possession, or promotion of anything that gives you an unfair advantage, even if you haven't actively used it in a match yet.

SOFTWARE

  • Installing, running, or using programs designed to give unfair advantages, even if not actively used in-game

HARDWARE

  • Installing or using devices designed to give unfair advantages, even if not actively used, for example:
    • Using mouse and keyboard on console while emulating a controller to bypass platform restrictions
    • Using adapters or devices to run macros, rapid-fire scripts, or automation.
  • Spoofing: disguising a device's identity to appear as a legitimate input device or bypass restrictions

IN-GAME EXPLOITS

  • Intentionally using in-game bugs or exploits to disrupt gameplay or gain an unfair advantage
  • Intentionally causing input lag, network delay, or desync to gain reaction time, positioning, or hit-registration advantages

CIRCUMVENTION

DETECTING INTERFERENCE

  • Attempting to bypass, disable, or interfere with our detection, security, or enforcement systems

BAN BYPASS

  • Using another account to evade an existing ban

UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS

  • Bypassing regional, platform, or service restrictions through unauthorized software, modified clients, emulators, private servers, or similar methods

COMPETITIVE INTEGRITY DISRUPTION

The ranked ladder means nothing if the results aren't earned.
We take competitive integrity seriously.

SMURFING

  • Using alternate accounts to dominate lower-skilled lobbies, bypass matchmaking rules, competitive restrictions, or rank progression systems*

BOOSTING

  • Playing in a squad with cheaters
  • Allowing a higher-skilled player to use your account to gain rank
  • Paying or using external services to artificially inflate your rank
  • Elo trapping: deliberately matchmaking against specific accounts to force losses or manipulate others' ranking progression

MATCH DODGING

  • Leaving or avoiding matches to dodge specific players or teams, including when you suspect cheating

STREAM SNIPING

  • Watching an opponent's live stream to track their movements or strategies in real time
  • Intentionally queuing at specific times to enter the same match as a targeted streamer

PLAYER EXPERIENCE DISRUPTION

TOXIC OR NEGATIVE COMMUNICATION

  • Bullying, harassment, threats, or hateful language directed at other players
  • Disrupting matches through trolling or abusive behavior in communication tools

GAMEPLAY ABUSE

  • Using gameplay mechanics to intentionally harass other players
  • Trolling or griefing through in-game actions.
  • Intentionally throwing matches rather than surrendering or trying your best

FAKE PLAYING

  • Using bots, scripts, or automation to mimic player behavior and farm XP or resources
  • Simulating participation without actually playing, in order to stall or disrupt matches

ACCOUNT & FRAUD ABUSE

ACCOUNT SHARING, SELLING, BUYING, OR TRADING

  • Using an account you didn't create, or allowing others to access yours
  • Providing false account information to evade restrictions or enforcement.

MANIPULATING THE IN-GAME ECONOMY

  • Exploiting bugs or patterns in the game economy

UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTIONS

  • Buying or selling in-game currency or items or accounts through unofficial third-party websites or services

INTENTIONAL DISRUPTION & ABUSE

PROMOTING FORBIDDEN SERVICES

  • Advertising, implying, or sharing links related to cheating, boosting, or other prohibited services

REPORTING ABUSE

  • Spamming or misusing the report system to generate false reports or trigger false detections

IMPERSONATION

  • Pretending to be a developer, Ubisoft staff, moderator, content creator, or pro player to gain a personal benefit
  • Falsely representing a brand, official service, or Ubisoft Support without authorization.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU BREAK R6 CORE RULES?

Identified violations result in sanctions.
Depending on the severity, frequency, and intent of your behavior, you could face:

  • Temporary restrictions on game features
(e.g. being muted or having friendly fire reversed against you)
  • A temporary ban from online play
  • A permanent ban from online play
  • Permanent revocation of access to the game

Sanctions can be applied individually or stacked on top of each other.
Permanent sanctions mean exactly what they say, your access is gone, forever.

Important: Actions taken outside the game that affect matches, other accounts, or our enforcement systems can also result in sanctions.
