@grahamfischer Actually you and some others on here no longer want that. I, on the other hand, do still want that. I’m actually looking forward to the day when I reel those annoying, digital, hide and seek champs in. I just want to finish the Ubi connect challenge. I really don’t even want that swordfish sword. Actually really just want a time period authentic one-handed Viking sword. That’s for another post though.
In the end it’s just a game. And I’ll gladly play other games while occasionally checking back to see if it’s been fixed. Eventually it will be.
@mstrtarvos I actually agree with the OP about the animal finishers, maybe not get rid of them all together. I know some people enjoy them. But at least give us an option to turn them off. Include all finishers in that too. They were pretty sweet the first time or two, but the 100th or 500th time? How many times do I need to see Eivor beat down a big guy with a sword then step on his head and discard the sword. Or take an axe to a wolf. It really does slow gameplay down.
While they’re tweaking things, it’d also be nice if they could speed up the kill confirmations. They’re much too slow and some don’t make sense. Why is Eivor putting his axe on wolves? It seems like he is trying to send them to Valhalla. Don’t think Odin wants wolves sent there. Same for the Saxon targets. Not to mention the inconsistency with the latter part of the game. But I’ll leave it there so as not to drop spoilers for anyone still waiting for bug fixes so they can finish the game.
@gloomseeker Exactly. There are currently nine base game armor sets, not counting the Berserker set which was available with some editions so that shouldn’t count as not everyone has it. I’m also not counting the two event “rewards” because those were just reskins of already available armor sets anyway. Also because the first event was so bugged some people weren’t able to get enough event currency to even get the whole set. The helix store has at least eight armor sets with one coming soon and another rumored to be released later. By April we’ll have nine base game armor sets and ten helix store sets. Let’s not forget all the mount/raven skins, weapons/shields, ship skins, tattoos, and decorations that are also in the store. Even worse is knowing they aren’t done, by the end of AC Valhalla’s run I’m sure the store will be bloated with a lot more items meant to bleed us dry of our money.
I for one don’t enjoy a free to play model being inserted into a game that cost me over $110US.
@asgardian02 I think the one hit assassination was meant to cater to fans of the original Assassins Creed games. When AC Origins came out a lot of long time fans were annoyed that you had to upgrade the hidden blade before you could assassinate in one hit. Even then it might not work if your level was still too low. So Ubisoft is attempting to find middle ground between original AC fans and the new rpg style AC fans.
@ubi-borealis happened to me too. I was out side the bandit camp in west Ulster, west of Donegal. I had just used Odins sight, started running, then pulled up my hood and went flying. I’m playing on PS5. Both the PS5 and Valhalla are running with the latest updates.
@indebt08 He might have meant African Vinlandian.
@torfinr Actually the Star Wars armor will be in the helix store. The river raids will give us a Raven Clan armor reskin with an Aztec design.
@yesin069 Assassins in an AC game? That’s crazy talk to Ubisoft. I’ve said elsewhere in this forum Assassins Creed is dead and like in the ‘80s movie Weekend at Bernie’s, Ubi just keeps dragging that corpse out of the morgue each year to get access to the bank account.
I'm now convinced the year off they took between Syndicate and Origins had nothing to do with Syndicate not doing as well as expected at launch. If you remember they tried microtransactions in Syndicate with different gear for the Frye twins. I’m guessing they didn’t sell all that well. So they took a year off to figure out what type of game would appeal to a wider audience. An audience that would be more open to microtransactions. If you look on this forum, you will easily find people suggesting new items for them to put in the store.
Ubisoft wanted a new fan base for the AC franchise. One that would accept a mediocre game and praise it. That would ignore all of the bugs, the broken stealth/fighting/loot system, the numerous historical inaccuracies and anachronisms, the repeating grind, the lack of any actual character development. They sought out people that want to play as a living god slaughtering all in their path with little to no challenge, all while dressed as Sauron. Most importantly they wanted a new fan base that will continue handing over extra money for all of their microtransactions. They got what they wanted, and all it cost them was most of the loyal fans. Those of us who were there since the beginning. Through the good games and the not so good games. We kept coming back with hope each time. Well not so much anymore. With each new step in this direction they take, they lose more fans of the classic AC titles. Unfortunately as long as the new fans keep buying microtransactions, the AC franchise and original fans don’t matter to Ubisoft.
@steak_59 That’s the point though. Ubisoft doesn’t want you to be able to get things from Reda. They want you to come up short on opals or just run out all together. They actually want you to buy it from the helix store. The opals you get are supposed to bring you just close enough to what you want that you cave in and get the items from the store. Notice how you won’t be able to get all five pieces of an armor set from Reda. There’s always one or two pieces that you’ll have to buy from the helix store. That’s also why they offer settlement, ship and tattoo cosmetics at Reda’s market. To further water down any chance that the things that you might actually want will rotate through.
@grahamfischer No offense dude but if you care that much about swinging a swordfish around, go play something like fortnite. Do you honestly think they’re purposely not fixing certain aspects of the game because it’ll get people to spend more money? How does that work? I would think that a game that is running smoothly with everything working as it should would be more likely to get people to spend more on it. Adding helix store items while the game has so many problems is a bad look for Ubisoft, but the truth is all of those items were made a long time ago and they are just unlocking them on a schedule. They aren’t coding these things into the game every other week. Somebody posted a video link in another post that shows the Jackdaw longship items were in game as far back as Jan 5.
It would be great if they could fix all these problems but working with as much code as this game has to have can’t be easy. Plus Montreal is still in a strict lockdown, which means the dev team are still working separately from home. And no amount of chewing out the support staff here in the forums will change that.
And Ubisoft only care about the money? Well yeah, and water is wet.
@dreadgrrl It contributes nothing to the modern story nor to the AC lore. Hytham is only in it for a brief moment at the beginning.
@fortyniners354 You can sell all the goods to Azar. I think you get 40 silver for 100 clothing, delicacies, or texts. For some reason you can only sell luxuries 50 at a time though.
@dreadgrrl In all honesty, if your experience in Valhalla has been mediocre, then you should wait to get WotD when it goes down in price. It’s pretty short and is a lot like the usual missions in the main game. spoiler The main story of the dlc was also pretty predictable. And as usual it has a few bugs, but Ubisoft seems to be fixing them a little quicker these days.
It’s an okay dlc, but I don’t think it’s really worth what they are charging for it. I should have cost $10-$15 less.
@kormac67 I get that they moved on. My problem is that they’ve tried to make Assassins Creed a copy of other games that already exist. If I wanted to play those games I would. I buy Assassins Creed expecting to actually play Assassins Creed. Now it’s another generic rpg. The only difference being that Ubisoft still can’t figure out how to make a real rpg. They need to lure developers from other companies that actually know how to make an rpg, but with the current behind the scenes stigma hanging over I don’t see that happening.
While you can play without microtransactions and I do, that doesn’t change the fact that most items released are in the store instead of the base game. The game is still buggy, the stealth is hit and miss, it’s an oversized repeating grind. It’s just not that good of a game. And the $25 dlc seems like it could have been taken right out of the main game while also coming across as oddly disjointed with the main game.
@kreutzgang I’m having that same problem with the game stuttering while I run or try to move fast. It is very annoying and seems to be happening more frequently lately. I could at least tolerate this new game style if it didn’t seem like Ubisoft went out of their way to make a stealthy build impossible. They keep talking about choices while limiting our build choices.
@Yesin069 Exactly. They put microtransactions into Origins and it was accepted because they were just cosmetic. So Odyssey had even more. Now Valhalla is looking like a store hiding behind a game facade. They already are getting more aggressive in pushing the microtransactions, remember Odyssey had a forced grind to push people into buying the boosters. Ubisoft had to go back in and rebalance the game after people noticed the grind could be offset with the booster and complained.

@ubi-borealis I lost most of my arrows and rations at the end of Into the Fog too. I just gathered the resources and continued playing the first time it happened. But after seeing it’s happened to others I reloaded my previous save from a couple of days ago to check and it happened again. So it is repeatable. I captured video the second time.
Playing on a PS5 with latest update.

@fatherjimbo Unfortunately Ubisoft has indicated that this is it. Assassins Creed as we knew it and played for so many years is dead. They’ll keep dragging another title out each year using the name much like the corpse in Weekend at Bernie’s. But it won’t actually be Assassins Creed. Just more magic, more gear sets and more unstoppable brutes smashing their way through horribly inaccurate time periods with anachronistic oversized cartoonish weapons. And possibly a game as a service type thing where they just keep selling us expansions that include other time periods and new assassins. Or at least what they’ll call assassins. Hopefully we’ll get a remastered AC1 and Black Flag to go with the other remasters we already have. That way we can play all of the actual A.C. games. You know from before they became WoW or Elder Scrolls with a hidden blade. Although Odyssey proved that not even the hidden blade is guaranteed.
@ubiexcellent Thanks for the info. I mistakenly thought this was going to be fixed in the patch released this morning.
@ubiexcellent I’ve noticed this also. It only seems to affect Eivor horse. All other sounds seem to work just fine. If I ride past other people on horses I can hear their footsteps. I even took a guards horse, it’s footsteps could be heard until Eivor got on it.
