Hi guys, I just got the game on Uplay, but can't start it at all. I get the splash screen and then the game crashes 2 seconds after with this very helpfull error:
I'm running Ryzen 1800x, 32 GBs Gskill FlareX ram, 2080 TI GPU. I've updated to the latest nvidia drivers 457.30 with a clean install, installed the latest VC++ redistributable version (it's newer than the one the game installs, but neither version works). Tried to remove overclocking as some people suggested that online, but it didn't work.
I verified the game files and everything was "fine". Saw that people were reporting problem with previous assassin's creed games (Origins, Odysey), where the games are not on the main(system) drive, or on an SSD, tried to move the files around nothing helped. I've not had problems with other Ubisoft titles on this machine (to be honest I don't think i've had problems with any games), i have wildlands and breakpoint (i think this one is on the same engine as Valhalla). Tried all the standard compatilbility options (low color depth, run as admin etc.)
Has anyone had this problem and can suggest a possible solution?

Posting an update to keep this thread alive. Still no resolution found for this bug, still no update on my ticket.
@emmaj95 We can try to keep this thread alive and make it the main one for this type of crash, however i'm not sure how to attract Ubisoft attention, this is one of the longer threads on the forum, looking at the ones from this week, yet no response from Ubisoft here. I'm thinking that they have no idea what could be causing this s*** and just pretend like an ostrich "if we don't talk about it, it will disappear right ?!?!"
Forgot to mention that i already have a support request submitted on Tuesday - 13186910, but have had no updates yet. Can someone at ubisoft look into this ?!? @ubi-unicorn @Ubi-Baron @Ubi-Fractal @Ubi-Gaidheal @Ubi-Kay @Ubi-Litten @Ubi-Mercury @Ubi-Milky @Ubi-Mullac @Ubi-Pingu
@staky000 Wait you did a full windows reinstall ?! Yeah F that. I'm not going to do it for one game. Everything else works just fine, the issue is not with my windows installation.

@lesvannes So I'm on a desktop and have two monitors one connected via DP and one via HDMi (it's older and doesn't have DP). Tried each monitor separately, tried only the new one with either DP or HDMI and tried both on HDMI together neither option worked. Still get a crash 2 seconds after the splash screen appears.
@dss8654 already there mate, tried submitting a refund request on Tuesday, I still have had no response...
@joonbaebae Dude i'm having the same problem with this one. Here's my post in case the Ubisoft guys respond there instead of here ... https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/79172/unable-to-launch-the-game-at-all/5 I raised a support ticket with Ubisoft with ubisoft 13186910, and I advise you to do too. The more the better so that they hear us finally.
I haven't had any issues with Odyssey, but this one is terrible. I get the splash screen and it dissapears after 2 secs. Tried everything you've posted and still get the same
Here's my specs in case Ubisoft guys want to talk in this thread by any chance:
Ryzen 1800x
Asus Crosshair 6 Hero Motherboard
32 GB FlareX Cas 16 RAM
Asus ROG OC advanced 2080 TI
I have 4 Drives 2 HDDs, 1 Sata SSD and 1 M.2 SSD
I've tried all possible combinations of moving the game between the drives, nothing solves this issue so far. I even tried creating a virtual drive on the system SSD cause i saw it helped some guy, didn't do it for me.
@boogie7601 I am on 20H2 but not running insider versions. The problem is only with this game, so definitely not worth reinstalling and setting up windows again.
@demonicarcher and don't forget, we've paid money for nothing. I've requested a refund 2 weeks ago and still nothing... 100% the last time i spend money with ubisoft
@tribunician still stuck on it as well mate. I requested a refund more than a week ago and still no progress on that. This is definitely the last time i give ubisoft money.
@Ubi-Raziel hey, so it's been a week since the last response, no updates, no fixes. What is going on ?!!??! I requested a refund last tuesday and still haven't received anything back, can't play the game and now your customer support portal is in "maintenance" ... i guess i'm not investing any money in this company ever again...
@exaudio nah man I have the problem still, no response from Ubisoft. I requested a refund a week ago and still nothing. And now their customer support portal is in maintenance until the 23rd so i guess i'm not getting my money back any time soon and i'm not playing the game and it's f**cking great...
@boogie7601 not sure it's 100% due to the insider windows update. I'm not on the insider version, and I have a problem only with Valhalla, i can play all other assassin's creed games, and wildlands/breakpoint as well. I think this AC is running on the same engine as Breakpoint, even though it's modified. So i would say the problem is still with this game specifically.

@babooshka_ Last update was that my issue is escalated and i'll be contacted back, that was 3 days ago.so not much so far
@z31turbo Hey if all it takes is a webex call i'll do it too, but alas that's not it. I spent an hour this morning with the lvl 1 "tech" support and we kept looping over the same things that i had already done, and were documented in my ticket. I've worked in tech support (even though it wasn't for gaming company) before and i know that there is a "script" for basic issues but when there is a 1000 word essay explaining all i've done we can just skip the lvl 1 support, but i guess it doesn't work like that here. Now we just wait i guess. At this point i'm really losing patience and would like to get my money back if the game gets eventually fixed i might try to buy it again, but not for another 2-3 months at least.
