AC Valhalla looks very unfinished!
@torfinr Plus, Odyssey had the Story Creator Mode, where peeps could make their own and share them. I do lots of those missions. Some are dumb, but some are very entertaining.
I'm only 25 hours in to Valhalla and it's already boring.
Seriously? How is this supposed to be at all interesting or fun?
Add this to the list of stupid stuff in AC:V.
enemy level scaling with player
But I hope they make it optional. I agree it should be there, but level scaling drove me nuts in Odyssey. I would turn it off if it were optional. But I do think it should be available for peeps who want it.
Ravensthorpe And NPCs
So, I got to the part where I had to kill Dag (this could be seen as coming a mile away though). And he attacked me and berated me as he did so. The townsfolks gathered and looked very disapproving as we fought, Randvi bemoaning that we should stop and all that.
I killed him, in sefl-defense I might add. And I even gave the ungrateful cur his axe so he could get to Valhalla.
And what happens? All the townspeople are basically giving me the cold shoulder. Gunnar won't say anything except to upgrade my equipment. The shop lady, who never shut up before now doesn't say a word except for how great her rations are. The little fisher kid no longer speaks to me.
What's up? Did they think I killed this idiot because I wanted to? They saw how he attacked me! Randvi won't say anything to me, until I make a move on her, she used to greet me with "my love" and lots of smiles.
I've built up the settlement to level 5, on my way to 6. And these people seem entirely ungrateful.
They will rue the day they dissed me with their tudes! Rue. The. Day!
TOTALLY MAD ABOUT THE GENDER CHOICE!!!!!!
While I am not at all concerned about male/female Eivor, since it is a choice available (even in the middle of playing the game), I am playing the female Eivor and she is constantly being referred to as "he/him" by NPCs. So, I don't think it's a big plot by Ubisoft to force a gender on the player, since I'm getting misgendered as a female character and apparently others are having the issue as a male character.
It's just abysmal QA testing.
20 Same hair styles in tattoo shop
The traders have these hairstyles listed in their inventory, but there seems to be no way to know what they look like before you buy them! At least with armor, it shows what it looks like. I haven't purchased any hairstyles or tattoos from the trader yet, and probably won't. When they say "most customizable" character, I don't think they know what that means. Dragon Age Inquisition knows how to customize a character, when I can change the shape of the character's nose, that's customization.
AC Valhalla looks very unfinished!
On my PS4, some of the cutscenes either have dialog out of synch with the video, or just completely silent altogether. This shouldn't be that challenging a thing to get right. These issues are why I didn't pre-order Fenyx Rising like I planned to. It's not a good look when they can't get cutscenes working on their biggest game of the year.
[RESOLVED] Cannot proceed with quest 'A Seer's Solace' | POST HERE
I got the game today from Game Stop (was supposed to be here on Tuesday, but no). I installed and started the game. Then during the first part the updated comes through, this happened all the time with Odyssey and Origins, so no big deal.
Got to the Seer's Solace and after much flailing trying to find the vaguly described Valka's Hut, no cutscene, no nothing.
I thought maybe I was had not completed some other parts, so I went back to the village and did a few more things. And then I looked on the internet and the forums and discovered that this is a gigantic bug.
Seriously? A supposedly A+ game sends out an update and this happens? Was the whole QA team drunk?
Fortunately, I only put about three hours in to it and so I am bailing for now until they fix this. If I have to restart, I will, but I don't want to.
I can go back to Dragon Age: Inquisition, which I haven't finished anyway. Or back to Odyssey and do some dumb quest for yuks.
Ubisoft, this is a very bad look. You've had a week to fix it since it was first reported on these forums.
Use of Raven in ACV
I hardly ever use it. I used Ikarus all the time. Even to attack and kill enemies, it was cool to see him dive bomb and wear away at some soldier until the guy croaked. Sometimes I would even clear a whole camp with only Ikarus. This raven is malakas.

Oh dear. The crossover event REALLY exposed how much better Odyssey is than Valhalla in every conceivable way.
I totally agree. I was unsatisfied with Valhalla when it came out. I played it to the end, but didn't do to completion, because the of all the things you mentioned. I only played a little bit of the River Raids DLC and didn't even bother downloading/installing anything past that. When I saw the new crossover, I did an update to my Valhalla and it was 56GB, that's how much I missed downloading.
My update to Odyssey was about 5GB.
I started the crossover in Odyssey, because I loved that game. I nearly wept with joy hearing Melissanthi Mahut back. It was such fun.
Then I went to Valhalla and Kassandra being there exposed just how boring Eivor is. Eivor had virtually no sense of humor, and Kassandra even mentioned it (sort of). Though I did like Kassandra teaching Eiver "malakas". It would be funny if Eivor continued to use that phrase. But "funny" is not something I would associate with Valhalla, while Odyssey had some really funny bits. Like Kassandra sticking the glass eye up the butt of that pig (I think it was a pig, it could have been a goat - funny in either case).
I finished the crossover DLC in Valhalla, then figured I would stick around and see what's going on. But I played about two or three hours and now I am going to go back to Odyssey and Korfu to finish that up. And then maybe some story creator games.
But really, the highlight was seeing and hearing Kassandra again. I am hoping they do another crossover with Odyssey and Origins.
[SPOILER] Kassandra go to Alessandria (Odyssey to Origins?)
@aleplay When she meets Eivor in Valhalla, she has a hidden blade yet states she's not part of the Brotherhood. Would be easy enough to assume she got the blade from Bayek or Aya during the Egyptian trek in Odyssey. Seeing as how she gives away the spear of Leonida's, which she used for assassination, it would make sense as well for her to seek a replacement while in Egypt.
My thoughts exactly. One of the last things she does in the new DLC (pre-credits) is give the Spear of Leonidas to Herodotus and say she needs to find another weapon. And in Valhalla she had obviously found it. So, I hope for another crossover, this time with Origins and Odyssey. Aya would be great to see more from. Origins is much more fun for me to play than Valhalla was.
[SPOILERS] [Discussion] Korfu Questline & Future Possibilities
That was last Update to Odyssey, there won't be any more.
We could have said that two years ago too. Who knew this was coming? So I hold out hope for more. To me Kassandra is a far better character and better acted than Eivor. Much more interesting to play. Parts of England are very fun to go around, but when I started this new DLC I felt more at home in Assassin's Creed than I had in a long time.
Still bugs and crashing??
I haven't played AC:V in about a month now. The game is still on the PS4, but I'm playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising now.
No crashes. Not a single one with I:FR. 50 hours in.
Plenty of them with AC:V.
So, I think I've played AC:V for the last time. Oh well. Lesson learned: don't pre-ordered games from Ubisoft.
Is This The End Of The Main Story?
@gearsmonger True. But neither was Odyssey and I found Kassandra to have an great sense of humor. Whereas Eivor has very little. Though when she's on fire and screams "That's new leather!" it's pretty funny, as if that's the only thing she's worried about is her leather.
Kassandra was just overall a better character for me and her sense of humor helped a lot.
Is This The End Of The Main Story?
And, I have officially moved on to Fenyx. I laughed more in the first 10 minutes of that game then is most of the time I've played AC:V. To me, it is more fun and much more fantastical (obviously). I'm just enjoying it more. And no glitches or bugs so far.
The mechanics aren't much better than AC:V, but a video game is a video game. It might not be for everyone, but I am liking it.
And I may spend my first Ubisoft credits on the "Misthios braid" hairstyle! I certainly would have gotten that for Eivor if there was anything like it.
Which purchased armor set is most OP
@bjgobbledix I agree, I have done the upgrades on my weapons/armors, because it's easy to just hold the square button down in PS4. I have hardly put any runes on any equipment because
a) it's a lot of steps to get them in the slots (ok, more than two)
b) reading the rune attributes is boring and they don't seem to do much
I haven't died in combat in a long time, except in Jutenheim, the strange beast surprised me and wiped me out quickly. But I came back and stomped him.
A rant, before I break up with Ubisoft
I'm about ready to bail on the game myself. I "finished" it and didn't have any game breaking bugs on PS4, except for at the very beginning with Valka and they fixed that eventually - not quick enough IMO though.
I hear you on the bad treasures and the gyrations you have to go through to get them. Keys here, exploding jars there, dropping loads of crap to break open a cache. And you usually just get a bunch of leather and some silver. How thrilling.
I dislike level scaling, it was my biggest complaint on Odyssey (why wasn't it completely optional?). I didn't notice that they turned it on for Valhalla, I thought it was gone. I did notice that the River Riad consistently had a recommended level of 5 levels above whatever my current level was.
As for Zealots, I haven't been paying attention to them, but I usually can kill them, but as you say, not with assassination, but just brute force.
I got Immortals Fenyx Rising yesterday, I think I'm going to move to that for a while and just keep track of what Valhalla is up to.
Is This The End Of The Main Story?
I finished the Hamtunscire arc and got the trophy. The game said that i've finished the main story, so I guess I did. It seemed very anticlimactic to me, though the funeral was nice.
I do have things left to do, but I do not expect to get to 100%, or even close. I'd like to get my settlement to 6, but it may be more trouble than it's worth.
Fortunately Immortal Fenyx Rising got here yesterday, so I may just move on to that.
Question About Flying Papers And The Order
Are some of these flying papers clues to order members? I am nearly through the game and I'm missing a whole lot of order clues. I haven't gone after these flying papers because I find the mechanics stupid.
Do I need any of them for order member clues? Because if I do, I guess that's another objective I won't be finishing.
I did order Immortals Fenyx Rising (on sale at Game Stop) so it should be here in time for me to bail on AC Valhalla. We'll see if I get to the end of the game before IFR gets here.
