So I did all the contortions and worked around the ridiculous dead-end reporting bug to see if I could successfully report an obvious hacker I had caught on video. I gave ALL the info, provided unarguable evidence, then waited. And waited.
I finally received a response saying the issue was resolved and the ticket closed. For a few days the player in question had no hours on the game, so I am thinking "Hmm, maybe it worked." Then today I looked on the Div2 stats and he's clearly working overtime, no doubt head-shotting players across the entire DZ - through walls and all - with a Regulus.
I know, you're sighing and saying "Tell me something I don't know" and you're right. It's non-news, but I just thought I'd share this one attempt at trying to play by Ubi's rules and the real outcome.
@ubi-nacho I really do wish the standard "update your drivers" and similar replies would not be relied on so heavily as a "response." Besides the fact that most drivers update automatically these days (Windows + graphics cards), most PC gamers tend to not fall into the PC-as-an-appliance category as a user who just browses the web and occasionally plays Solitaire...and it goes without saying that user won't be here.
Put another way, we've all already done the basics - and usually as soon as it became apparent this was an issue, and not a one-off quirk. Most of us have gone far beyond what's listed, and it still isn't helping.
Summary: the game has an inherent issue, and driver updates won't help that, and suggesting they might only comes across as a distraction.
@cjmarlow587 I didn't think it was that hard, and I am the polar opposite of a hard core player. I'm old (60s) and very recreational with video games, maybe playing an hour or two a week.
The key for me was just to put together a build just for the mission. The first few plays through, I didn't know what to expect and went in with my skill farming build, then had my &^$# handed to me (lol). Seeing the volume of NPCs it throws at you, I started with a DZ-focused build, but modded it a little. The key for me was Memento backpack, because with the sheer number of baddies this mission throws at you I had insane amounts of bonus armor and firepower from the abundance of trophies being dropped. I even had chest with Unbreakable, but I don't recall it ever proccing (though it may have and I was just too busy to notice).
It was still a challenge finishing before the count down completed, and I made it with just under a minute remaining, but it wasn't that bad.
For me, something else new just started recently: now the game never shuts down properly. This is new since the last TU.
Before when it crashed it would leave some process running because the Play button on UBI Connect would remain grayed out, but now on the [very] rare occasions I can shut the game down properly (usually when I only have time for 10 minutes or less) it still leaves the same process(es) running - 100% of the time. I cannot re-start the game without either rebooting the PC or manually hunting down and terminating all the processes (the former is faster).
So the crashes are more frequent, and even if it doesn't crash, it hangs on shutdown.
Congrats, you're starting to look like the Keystone Kops of game developers.
@dagrommit Please, there is no need to state the obvious, which is also in this case the "template" response to any and every negative comments about the DZ. "If you don't like it then don't go in there."
We've all heard it a million times, but as paying customers we're also free to express disappointment, concern, whatever you want to call it, about the choices the devs have made.
It's a game. A product. It's not perfect. If you don't agree with my comment you are free to say so, but please stop with the "if you don't like it don't go in there." It reminds me of the old joke where the guy is at his doctor's office, holds his arm over his head and says "Doc, it hurts when I do this. What should I do?"
So his doctor gives him the sage advice of "Stop doing that!"
So as it happens I spent five days in NYC from last Friday to Tuesday, Aug. 17th. It was a request from my daughter for her birthday, and with no planning whatsoever on my part she had selected multiple locations that are all part of the WONY expansion. It was her first time to NYC, but not even close to my first - although my last visit was well before the original Div even came out in 2016, so my memory was a little foggy.
Anyway, it's pretty interesting to see what a stellar job the map and environment makers did for this game. Some locations, like Clinton Castle were spot on. I wasn't previously aware, but Clinton Castle is really undergoing a major refurb right now and indeed has scaffolding all over it. I suspect this had already started when they visited the site and took pictures, hence the scaffolding in the game. Same with Liberty Island, though absent the grounded boats and the Razorback it looked a little different.
The area that struck me the most though was the Staten Island Ferry terminal, which from what I can tell was a spot-on reproduction - down to the smallest detail. Coming through the doors to the escalators I was almost expecting to see machine gun-toting baddies there taking up positions.
At any rate, I think Massive and Res Storm have some extraordinary level and asset creators and do amazing work.
@an0nymio Once (per day)? You're doing quite well. I don't even play that much and I wish I could get it down to [only] once per day.
I'm actually embarassed for Ubi how little they seem be interested (or able) to fix it.
Three for three: I do a manhunt mission, Heroic, all Directives enabled, solo. Slog all the way to the end, and in the final boss showdown...CRASH.
Restart the game and all progress lost.
Seriously, what a POS and what a fantastically incompetent team.
@Marriorqq Your survey selections need work. I suggest an entry: "After the first five minutes I realized it was trash, and now sits in my stash collecting virtual dust."
@RangerZer012 Sheesh, we just got a cache with so many bazillion mats that I haven't even opened it yet.
Since the last TU we've been talking about how much worse yet (as if we even thought it was possible) all the bugs and glitches - both game-breaking and just annoying - has gotten. Well, I have never seen this before in 4 years, and it's persisted through several restarts of the game and days, so it's not a one-off.
And of course, no, I do NOT have two identical Acosta's bags that dropped with the same attribute states, was optimized by me exactly the same, and I favorited also. In fact, since they upped the exotic comp inventory to 999 I only keep one of any given exotic, so this is clearly a glitch..I can move them separately in and out my stash too, but am hesitant to decon one because I wouldn't be shocked if they both disappeared.
This game is becoming both increasingly annoying and just plain weird.
@T-H-U-D-D Wow! Nothing but Pesties for me. I did get one Bullet King, but it was from killing a rogue that had it.
Unfortunately I already had a god-rolled one, so after I extracted his, er, my BK I just deconstructed it.
@hyper-sniper I think it is getting worse - much worse. I had three crashes during the course of one mission (Wall Street). The first two it resumed at the last checkpoint, but the third crash occurred just before my showdown with Dragov and reset the mission back to the beginning.
That was my limit and I killed it. Seriously, the game is unplayable at this point, and if they're unable to fix it they should recover whatever dignity they can and pull the plug on it.
@Aced_100 Funny, for me, it's Chameleon. I stopped counting at 120 (dropped) Chameleons in the LZ.
@x41x6Ex64x79 Not sure I believe the 0.07%, as I've had Pestilence drop for me more times than I can count. I can rely on several per week every week, and I don't even play very often. If I can extract them, it's only for the exotic components anymore, though I have no idea what I'll use them for.
Now the EB might be 0.0007%. That I can believe.
@HonestlyOK1986 I'm with you on the DZ farming, though in my case it's not about loot (since there's nothing I want that I don't already have), but the sheer number of tactical assessments you can grab doing landmarks is unbeatable - even more so if you're in a group or just following other friendly agents around.
The loot is nothing special, though extracting it you effectively get double loot (DZ Proficiency), so twice as much to decon at the other end for mats.
I have (on occasion) grouped for some deliberate PvP, but for the most part I am more a "reluctant PvP-er." I don't go rogue or look for a tiff, but if you attack, I will fight back.
I can't believe this is just from the (claimed) possibility of raid-exclusive exotics dropping in the DZ, but the hackers are back in a way I haven't seen in a couple years. Perfect headshots from across the DZ (through walls, cars, everything). I even saw a player warping around while under attack. Three like this in the last two days.
WTH is going on with this game?
@BB-Ghost Yeah, especially with the nerf, I couldn't care less about getting one now; I have two DZ builds that are way stronger anyway.
But with all the whining and howling it caused, my curiosity is getting the best of me.
Just curious, as I have seen nothing, and have asked probably a hundred or more players in the DZ who've all seen (you guessed it) nothing.
For all the talk of this being a "liberal handout" I am not convinced they actually made the change, and if they did, must have cranked the weighting down to 0.0000001% (or less).
