@ubi-woofer Hi, sorry for messaging you on this thread but I feel like I am talking to a wall with the live chat staff and I am well aware that you look into these issues instead of just giving the customers troubleshooting guides.
I am having a couple of issues on xbox one s that are potentially game breaking, I am not the only one.
Firstly, a lot of my npc's in my settlement have stopped functioning completely, I can not interact with them at all. The npc's are the following -
Shipwright
Tattoist
Hunter
Fisher
Cartographer
Barracks
I have tried everything and nothing seems to work.
Second. I have been getting an error message saying that there was a problem connecting to the ubisoft servers and to try again later, it keeps happening.
I believe the two may be linked because all of the npc's effected use some form of online or clock cycle feature.
@claud1o I hope we don't have to restart as well because it will make me drop the game, I have around 55 hours on my save, its too long to simply start new.
Ok this is starting to get annoying now, so basically I can't seek a refund because I have had the game for 2 weeks...... 2 weeks I spent waiting for a freaking update and the issue isn't even on the devs list to do yet. Are you joking? A game breaking bug and it doesn't take priority over a freaking bug that doesn't let people get wealth from an ingot off a corpse.
@Ubi-Woofer please tell me this is a joke, the dev team needs to sort their priorities out big time, some of us can't access half of the content in the game and the dev team are prioritising all of the minor bugs.
In the world of legality this product is faulty and not fit for purpose, yet I am being denied a refund, all I wanted to do was play the game I paid for and looking at how the dev team is handling the situation it will be mid 2021 before it gets fixed, I want my money back now!
@ubi-woofer from what people are saying it is also plausible that the raid on your settlement could be the cause which makes sense because your npc's get displaced while there is fighting.
@ubi-woofer I don't understand how much more I can help, literally everyone on this thread is having the same issue, there is no more info than what was provided already.
I wish I could give more info but everyone here has already covered everything applicable, not to mention save files and clips have been provided already by the other guys on the forum, I just wish I knew it would drag out this long because now I can't even get a refund because I'm outside the 2 weeks.
It just feels like by the time this bug gets fixed the game will lose value, I would have payed £59.99 for a game I probably won't play until goes on sale because it just seems like that is how long it will take to get fixed.
I'm pretty sure this bug was actually first mentioned 2 updates ago and we still have no progress, I just really want to play the game I paid for.
It's even more annoying because all of this time we have been missing the daily/ weekly items in the merchants, items I have no idea if or when they will be back.
@fireice38 cool next week, so what about the past month where I have been unable to do most things in the game?
I simply compared ubisoft to CD project Red, in less than a week CD has had 2 substantial updates out to try and patch their game, it has taken ubisoft over a month, do you see the issue?
Also, what if this update does Not fix the issue?
What then, do you expect me to be happy having to wait potentially another month for a fix? Let's be honest it wouldn't be the first time an update with the intent to fix a problem ends up making it worse.
@nchamp2014 nah its way too logical, letting the community beta test a game.
Let me make it clear ubisoft, people will understand game breaking bugs if the game is in BETA, hense the need for proper beta testing. Bugs like these on full release are downright appalling considering the price of the game.
@mrsugarboi no problem, hopefully we can get it sorted soon, I feel like this bug took away half the content so I can't bring myself to play right now
@ubi-woofer awesome will do, just a heads up it's the same for me as in the clip another poster gave you, except for me I'm missing functionality on the -
Shipyard
Barracks
Hunter
Fisher
Cartographer
And there was another but I can't remember.
Just out of curiosity Woofer, do you happen to know if this issue is fixable in a patch because I really don't want to lose 55 hours of progress.
I understand there may be some way for the dev team to reset the npc's but as for fixing the bug I hope it can simply be patched, at the moment I'm hesitant on playing because I don't feel good about spending more time gathering and doing side quests if I will have to restart.
Thank you.
@chriskean86 fair play honestly, I would really like a full refund, it's only fair given the current state of the game and the fact that this doesn't even seem like a priority for them is just grinding at this point.
Now I just want my money back since the game is borderline unplayable, since I am asking for this though I somehow doubt I will get a reply from ubi on here.
@drainceo they eventually patched the main issue but the issue with tove idk. Tbh I have lost interest in ubisoft games, I can't bring myself to play valhalla knowing I missed so much for no reason other than bad QA testing of the game, I bought the game on release and all I got was excuses for between 1-2 months, all while events and other stuff was being prioritised.
I and many others paid full price for a game we could have purchased on sale for less because let's be honest none of us could play it until after the game was on sale 2 months after release and what do we get as compensation for the wasted time, money and especially the effort we all put in doing their QA Testers jobs?
Nothing
Yes nothing, the whole matter is just getting shoved under the carpet to be forgotten because that is just how ubisoft do things.... I mean damn, even Bethesda gave something for the shocking release of 76... Not that it was anything good but its still more respectable than anything ubisoft is doing.
Guess it really is turning into one of those companies that are just a stain on video games, way past its prime.
@nchamp2014 nah its way too logical, letting the community beta test a game.

@ubi-woofer it would be nice considering we had to wait 2 months to play a game which we purchased on launch, I'm not even asking for real money, just something in game since we missed so much, its like I said, we are 2 months behind everyone, we have missed an event and have to wait a year for the next of its type.
Thank you for understanding.
@ubi-woofer will we actually get Anything for waiting months for this? I mean it's kind of shocking waiting 2 months, missing events and other content just for this to be brushed under the carpet like it never happened.
Especially since the game has even been on sale since then, so we bought a game that we couldn't play for full price, waited 2 months, over a sale and an event. It just seems like either way we got screwed and it's just getting shrugged off.
@lethalrabbid I get it but there is a line between customer satisfaction and straight up stealing.
It's no different than if I sold ubisoft a TV with half the screen not working, it's shocking how we can't get a refund at this point.
In adherence to the consumer rights act the product is faulty and does not serve the purpose it was intended for, pretty sure this also counts as false advertising since we cannot access the content advertised.
It just seems like the only way to get a company like this to listen is a court case.
At this point it would make me happy to see them sued, there is a global pandemic, everyone is struggling and ubisoft thinks its alright to just take money for, what is at this point, basically nothing.
Let me make this clear, what I Purchased, not donated to, was a complete game, not an early access/game preview game.
As such I would like a complete product, it has been almost 6 weeks and ubisoft still can't fix the issue.
Sorry I said can't but let's be honest they really don't give a damn otherwise they would have focused the bugs and not the event.
@lethalrabbid just a heads up I have had experience with video game development and at this point I believe his comments towards the devs are fully deserved.
Not only are they providing any real info on the matter but it has also been over a month. Over 1 month with their grubby hands on our cash and we can't even play the product we paid for.
No help with refunds, no help with in terms of an eta, not a spec of compensation for this mess and if you use your eyes, you will see that the devs priority is not actually with the bug, but rather the event.
Yes the event that WE CAN'T EVEN TAKE PART IN.
So yes, I would say its completely justified.
If you bought a TV and half the screen was permanently black, then you asked for a refund only to be completely denied something that should be well within your rights under the consumer rights.
Would you not be atleast a little bit frustrated?
The first 2 weeks I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but it's clear at this point that they have no intention of fixing the bug any time soon, if that where the case I can't see a reason for the devs not to just give us a freaking eta.
But no, they keep saying in a "future update".
Future can be any time, could be 1 month, 1 year, or ubisoft favourate "Future" NEVER.
@ubi-woofer let's be honest I already have a huge sanction on my account, it's a £59.99 game that I can't do much with, and now it's also a big event that, let's be honest, I'm also going to miss.
Please please please tell me what I paid for.
Pretty sure I paid for a COMPLETE game over a month ago, not an EARLY ACCESS game.
This is such a meme at this point.
Also wth are we supposed to do? We are all going to miss this new event, what are we going to get for it? Nothing but false hope.
Let's be honest, ubisoft don't believe in making amends for their mistakes so in 6 months time when this issue is actually sorted it will just be brushed under the carpet and not a single person here will get any sort of compensation for the months without a game that we have all paid for.
Such a shame, it finally started to look up for ubisoft but after this whole event I don't think I'm going to ever spend money on any of their products again. Developers need to learn the hard way, I just hope others take the same action because it seems like the only way to get anything from ubisoft is with cold hard cash.
@Ubi-Woofer i think at this point my language is not the issue.
If I took £59.99 off you and sold you a game that doesn't work and virtually has no refund policy and no real assistance with a fix, let's be honest it probably wouldn't be bad language, it would probably be a court case.
You guys have taken our money and instead of fixing the issue and giving us what we paid for, you are developing new events, that we cant even play.
I seriously think you guys have your priorities skewed.
@Ubi-Woofer don't mean to sound like a [censored], but what I said would happen is now happening and I'm even more [censored].
The game is now on sale on xbox, a game I paid in full for over a month ago and still can not play.
This is a joke, I hope you can sort something out on your end and get me a refund or something because this is just shocking now £59.99 for a game that I have had over a month and can still not play. Not to mention no real news on an update, no news on any form of compensation and to put it bluntly, no [censored] given on ubisofts side. This is likely the last time I spend money on a ubisoft product.
I have the new motto for ubisoft. No news, No fixes and definetly no refunds.
