@martygod12 this whole game felt like a disappointment. I feel that they were just hoping to sell a title for next gen consoles and slap “Vikings” on it. Hoping it would sell. I see myself going back to odyssey after finishing this game. I can tell that Valhalla doesn’t have any real replay value content. Even if they added a New Game+.
@rumenrs a bit late to the party here. But wanted to play more first before commenting on this. But yeah. It’s weird. I am playing on 4K HDR10 Ultra high / high on everything with my 3070 super on a 56” television and sometimes the game looks amazing. But most of the time I agree with you. The game looks ugly I feel about 60 - 70% of the time I am playing it. So much so I am always going back to my settings to see if they changed to a lower setting for some reason. I personally think it’s do to all the distances fog/haze they have everywhere. It gives the game this feel like there is a film over the game or almost like the brightness is turned up all the way, even when it’s not. I feel if they got rid of 80% of that damn pointless fog it look better. But have to have some cheap way to cover up the terrible background rendering in the distance. The story in this one doesn’t really grab you in anyways nor really make you care to much about what is going on. The combat is not to great either on top of that. Nothing feels like it really has weight and doesn’t feel good when you hit things. Unlike other games in similar settings and weapons like God Of War 2018. I personally think despite enemies being to spongy. Odyssey was a far better game. I totally agree with you on this. About graphics and more.
@mirmidonas74 I was only really looking forward to the “raiding”, “better combat” which wasn’t really broken on odyssey. Enemies were just spongy. And the assassinations being added back. The first two being incredibly disappointing. I will finish this, cancel my Ubi+ sub and go back to Origins or Odyssey after this. Maybe come back if they manage to fix it.
@longjohn119 Odyssey felt like a whole game they worked on. Valhalla feels more like a side game. Like Revelations or Syndicate. I think it will be just as forgettable too.
@thecubee Yeah, it let me pre-load no bull**** or anything. Its kinda pathetic that they can have it working in thei sub service. But can't "process" orders fast enough. This is the first time I have ever seen something like this for a DIGITAL order.
@emitfudd I hated side quests on here too. In odyssey they felt more panned out and like they all had weight and plot behind them even if they were only 15 minutes long. In the game some of them can be finished in like 2 minutes and don’t have any cutscenes.
@speedynl21 The barred door [censored] is annoying. Honestly my biggest hate in this game is the raiding. Raiding provides you really nothing to you as a player outside maybe a skill book and or a piece of equipment. Other than that it’s just “materials and supplies” for your town. You’d think raiding would be profitable and or more importantly, fun. Maybe let you actually raid buildings, tables, drawers and other things other then just opening generic chests. But nope! Just one time raids for materials for a town that doesn’t even have any depth or customization in look or location. Glad as well I got this on Ubi+ instead of buying it. This is a huge step back from Odyssey. But hey, at least the 4-5 broken up maps are bigger than Odyssey’s map. And that’s what is important right? Bigger maps.
@revenantsp1 I 100% agree. I said this in another post. The graphics in Valhalla as not constantly good. The games color palette doesn’t POP like the colors and graphics aren’t as crips and clear as that from Odyssey. Nor is the lighting as good. I assumed it was my computer for the longest time. Despite being able to play the game on highest settings on PC. They looks bland, muddy, and washed out most of the time. I get it’s 800s England. But that’s not really an excuse to have a game looks so ugly. The fog/haze is another thing that’s terrible about this game. In Odyssey you could see for miles. More so while at sea. On Valhalla after 100 yards the game is just a hazy, foggy, and ugly. I can’t tell if they did this on purpose or to cover up bad rendering for background assets that de-render into an ugly mess of polygons after moving 50 feet from them.
@torfinr there was no point in doing them before I even did half of them on the map. I unlocked everything important in the town outside the feast buffs. They need to fix raiding. I was really [censored] off that it was just generic mob fighting and opening chests. [censored] that has already been in AC forever.
@martygod12 the “base building” was terrible. I could understand not being able to pick the location you wanted because of dialogue, level and story reasons just like Fallout 4 and Sanctuary. But the game doesn’t even let you pick locations to build stuff or even the design. Despite being pushed as this new feature. A feature that was done all the way back in AC2, 3, and 4 with the town building (AC3 being the best and most in-depth with it). At least the towns on those games made you an income and wasn’t pushed as a major feature. I don’t get how this was pushed and people looked at it and said “wooooow” and not “They did this several times already!”.

@redw0lfalpha that was ment for the other guy. Hit the wrong reply.
@redw0lfalpha lol right?! Knew this game was trash before leaving the Norway map.
