Hey, Devs!
First let me say that I LOVE this game.
Second, just a quick suggestion: in the next Anno, can we go back to the achievements system and scenarios we had in Anno 1404?
I mean, getting a reward for an achievement was awesome (and having lots of them too). Going after that golden ship (and never getting it ) got me playing for hours (or decades). I felt that I had a purpose, I don’t know, like a finish line I had to get to. A reason to play. I loved it. In this Anno when I get the achievement, the reward is mostly just that, getting the achievement. Not enough of a motive to go for it (at least for me).
Every time I started a new game in Anno 1404, I went to that list of achievements and gave myself a reason to play, an achievement, a goal, something that gave me the satisfaction of accomplishing.
In 1404 for every different achievement you tried, you had to develop a different strategy to get there. And it was not always easy to do that, it required a lot of thinking and planning. It always felt like I was playing a different game every time. One big aspect of that game that made me love it so much. With 1800 I feel like something’s missing. Is like I’m playing the same game over and over again, because the strategy is about the goods for the tiers, not the end goal achievement and how to get there at the end. And once I developed my strategy for a specific good, I tend to repeat it, and it gets kinda boring at the end.
I think that system gave the game a deeper challenge, in my humble opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I think 1800 is waaaay better than 1404, but I find myself going back to play a decade old game, because it knew how to challenge and hook me in a way that the latest game hasn’t.
You could still have the Twitch Drops, and the Ubisoft Club rewards. I don’t see it as one or the other. But it would give us another way to get new decorations, portraits, colours or other stuff you decide.
The scenarios were amazing too. Going after the Imperator was challenging and beautiful. The new Anno should go back to that system.
Just my tiny idea. Thanks for reading this long post, and sorry for the rambling. You are the best Devs in game history!
