With a bit of testing I found that you lose collected vehicle parts if you die. I also tested metal resources for camps. You do not lose these if you die. Can anyone confirm what exactly you do keep or lose when you die ?
I know the game saves if you fast travel. You can't fast travel in a firefight. You lose some stuff so at least there is an incentive not to die. But does the game randomly save ?
Still loving this now I've played a lot longer. One niggle. I was capturing the communications bas with the very tall tower and just before I captured it a Special Forces team was sent in. However I shot the last non-special forces soldier and I still captured the base. I should have had to fight off the Special Forces team first.
Just forget everything. CLEAR YOUR MIND and immerse yourself on Yara. This is an Ubisoft game so there are going to be SILLY BITS (lol). Just ignore them ! It's your game (for example one never has to use companions).
I myself really like this Far Cry. It's a lot more like FC1 & 2 with a lot of the best bits from the later outings. I think the environment really shines through and Ubi devs have taken a lot of time to make it feel "right". It has a sense of place that has been lacking since FC 1 & 2. In FC 1 I really felt that I was isolated and alone in some forgotten part of the pacific. FC2 was a forgotten part of Africa. FC 6 is a bit less "forgotten" being based on Cuba itself. Nevertheless the sense of SCALE I've been getting, especially when getting to the main island is amazing. Distant islands appear at a realistic distance and size whereas FC 5 and 4 always felt a bit artificial to me. FC 3 was good but never really replicated some of the feeling of the first game until this one.
Yes its worth looking at what is really going on with the new systems. Yes there is difficulty. At first I thought Ubi had flunked out on providing a challenge until I got to the main island. Maybe a lot of the misconceptions come from the fact that Ubi have really done it well this time. It's like playing catch up. They have taken the best features of the previous games ( 3, 4 and 5) as well as many nods to the original first 2. But especially the environment is much more like FC 1 than even FC 3 was. The sense of scale is back. I can remember especially a scene in FC1 where you are left starting a level on your little boat looking out at this vast chain of islands. That really comes across again in FC 6.
