@doctormcbatman
Yes I totally agree. I actually refunded the game on PC and am going to wait until they patch the game and address this particular issue (assuming that they do). The audio was really strange and compressed sounding, at least while using headphones. Its hard to say what is wrong with it exactly but it is not AAA level.
Yes this game needs some more camera options. I don't like how it zooms out so much when in combat, really detracts from the experience imo.
@paella-sama This has been posted so many times but I am still going to upvote it every time I see it. Really bizarre decision on their part. Hopefully they will add it given how much people are posting about it. But who knows, this is the same company that didn't let us use shields in ancient Greece.
There have been numerous posts about the zoomed out camera during combat, so I will not touch on that here.
What I would like to see is the option to center the camera during exploration so it is not over the shoulder, more like Origins.
I personally really dislike over the shoulder and find is disorienting. This is a matter of preference, so why not give us the option. I am not a game designer but I can't imagine it is that hard to implement a toggle or a slider.
Thank you.
Yes definitely. I have been warry of that zoomed out camera since we first saw preview footage. I will not purchase this iteration of AC or any of its DLC until they patch this.
Listen to this poster! The game needs horizontal offset / center options, and an option to stop it zooming out when in combat. The game is borderline unplayable imo because of these things.
Ubisoft, please read this post, the audio quality is distractingly bad. The first link the OP lists gives a good description of what is going on. Everything sounds really compressed and is poorly mixed.
@ongeburz Yes I am waiting for some patches to be implement before playing this game because in its current state it is too buggy, and if those don't come out soon I am going to move onto Cyberpunk and happily forget about this game lol. And yes, something seems busted with the AI, I don't remember it being that bad in Origins or Odyssey.
When this game first came out there were loads of threads here and on reddit about how bad the camera in this game is, especially how it zooms out so far in combat (and doubly so when there are lots of enemies on screen). After playing 20 minutes at launch I put the game down, thinking they would surely patch this asap, as the game felt borderline unplayable to me. In theory they probably thought this was a good idea as it would give the player more situational awareness, but for me it has the opposite effect and is extremely disorienting, as I lose track of my character on the screen and have no idea what is going on. Also because it is so "dynamic" it keeps zooming in and out depending on what is going on and whether I am locked on, and it can honestly be nauseating at times. And lastly it is just unimmersive, in my opinion, as it really takes you out of the action. To add further insult to injury, they patched in an option months later for a closer camera in exploration (which is nice, don't get me wrong), but added no options for the combat camera? Confused by that one.
While I am at it, I also wish there was a horizontal offset slider for the game, so that I could center the character, more like Origins.
Anyway, am I just irrationally frustrated by this, or do other people feel this way as well? Has the game been out long enough that people don't really care now? Personally I have not even left Norway yet, because I am still hoping they will patch this and I can finally start playing this game, which otherwise seems to be improving with each patch...
That is a good idea though I would be surprised if they implemented it. I hate it when weapons are cartoonishly large, and the discrepency between sheathed and unsheathed size is jarring on some weapons. I wish these games were more modabble, this is the kind of thing the pc mod community could just knock out in a day or two.

I would like to second this. The camera offset is very disorienting for me as well, a centered camera option would make the game much more playable, or a horizontal offset slider to let the players adjust it. While they are at it, the zooming in and out really far during combat can also be nauseating and disorienting as well.
This is a perfect example of what is needed. The game would be so much better for many players if this was an option for all combat, not just select boss fights.
@xx-artorias-xx Agreed. It needs some kind of horizontal offset slider option, so people can center the camera. The 3/4 offset, especially during combat, is very disorienting in my opinion.
@caosck He is asking for an option, similar to how there is an option for the exploration cam. Personally I think the wide field of view is pointless for situational awareness if you can't see your guy when in large groups and lose track of the action. Also the constant zooming in and out and swinging around of the "dynamic" camera makes some people nauseous. A closer and more static camera in combat would be a wonderful option for many players. There have been many posts about this precise issue since launch, so OP is certainly not alone in wanting this as an option.
Yes! I just just made a post about this and saw your post. I have hated the camera in this game since day 1 and I have still not left Norway because of this single issue. The combat camera makes the game unplayable to me as I cannot tell what is going on, it is super disorienting. If this was a turn based RPG, ok that is fine for it to zoom out so far. But as an action rpg in which timing and parrying is important, the camera is just horrendous imo, I constantly loose track of my guy when in large crowds, and objects like tents, fences, ect. get in the way too as they occupy the field of view. It also just takes me out of the action and I think it would be a lot more immersive if it was closer. The exploration cam added in a patch was a good step but I was so confused as to why it was exploration only and not combat. The game seems like it has improved a lot since launch but I still honestly cannot play it because of the camera, which is disappointing bc Viking setting was my dream game Assassin's Creed game.
I support this...It should not be hard to implement considering when you are not in combat you can attack with the hood and cloak on, and the animations look fine.

I am glad they added this. I just started a new game on nightmare and it is actually slightly challenging now...
Yep, now it makes so much sense why they weren't in the base game. They knew people would want them and decided to monetize the addition of one handed swords by putting them in a DLC...I can't say I am surprised.
