Half way through. I currently hate the main character after always pushing back against the law of Assassin's Creed.
Do I push through or is this just a continuation of the story right through until the end? The gameplay is enjoyable but the story has just lost me and I haven't touched the game in 2 days which is the sign I've lost all interest based on what I've experienced. It's gonna be another 30 hours of gameplay and at this point something needs to truly change for me to be keen.
Thoughts?
@thecosmicbob Seeing that the other poster just want to be a racist instead, I'll add something more constructive.
I didn't like that it was all snow and miserable either. But it the setting does get better, and more visually appealing. I think you spend just enough time in the snow to appreciate it before you get something different. You should already know unless you haven't seen any trailer what is installed for you, so I'll avoid spoiling anything, and well unless you don't know your history then you'll have a fair guess of what's installed next.
Stick with it. I'm only 30 hours in and I'm disappointed with a few aspects of the story, but the gameplay is fairly solid if you like the modernisation of Assassin's Creed titles.
So I've been playing this series since the start. As the game has progressed and changed, one thing that has usually been consistent is the pay off in the lore of the world. So before I start my rant I will begin with;
[Spoiler] [Spoiler] [Spoiler] [Spoiler] Below
So as the title says, I'm 30 hours into the game. I've conquered about half the map and collected about that much in collectables, and yet, still the only Assassin's Creed law (the law I will call it for lack of knowledge I know of the terms used for the god like weapons and those that came before us), that I've come across, was when we ventured to the Amerces. I got be honest, when my character put away the orb at the wall and said "this isn't for me", I about threw the controller across the room, and I've never broken a controller in my life! That was the pay off for me, that was the big reveal. That was MY Assassin's Creed moment when I learn something about the world that my character didn't understand, but I would in a esoterical kind of way.
I actually don't get what is happening in this game. You honestly could have removed Assassin's Creed from this title and I wouldn't even know it. Now don't get me wrong, the game is great. I'm really enjoying it so far. I've had to learn some really hard a fast lessons about starting new quests before I'm ready, but apart from that, it's a solid title. With all the law, not a single god item? Odyssey balanced its systems SO well. Why did Valhalla leave out a piece of Eden to wield? I get it if the game developed in parallel to some degree, even though a lot of systems if not all are from Odyssey already. But man, why!?
The abilities could have been it. I feel like the ability as honestly boring. I abuse the hell out of Focus of the Nornir in boss fights which make most of them fairly trivial (which also means I don't bother using and experimenting with the others), but that also comes with the fact that I do over level them which is the by-product of a story rich game wanting me to explore everything to learn as much as I can about it. Which is a good thing, no it's a great thing! But I'm getting no pay off.
The only thing I've come across with mystery so far is a statue with three daggers marks in it of greenish nature that are rumoured to be keys. Which has me interested. I searched the area but found nothing as of yet. Ohh and the glitches, which are neat and a nice calling back to, ahh, Assassin's Creed 2 or 2.5? I cannot remember sorry. With Adam and Eve escaping.
Anyway if you've made it this far I hope someone can answer my question that has finished the game while completing a lot if not close to 100% the game. Is there a pay off or am I just a rat in a maze collecting data for Ubisoft's next AC title? Cause I'll play the game, but they've got to give me something in return and that has to be of sufficient value. Also, without spoilers please! I'm only just about half way through.
