I love the game... but i actually upright hate the glowing orbs system. Sure, it has its uses, but im more of referring to how good it makes navigating. Which is terrible
Now, i know i may be in minority in this, but i actually really liked the icon-filled compass in AC odyssey and Origins. Mostly because you saw what type of objective you were heading to (meaning you could avoid ones you hated) and because it only showed relatively close by (around 400m) objectives. Now i have some random orb irritating me from almost 2km away? no thanks. If i would want pure exploration joy (which i sadly dont have time for in my life at this point) instead objective pursuit, i would turn off UI, but i wouldnt leave glowing orbs on. I mean thats kind of the whole point of that setting, right? to allow each player to have icons if they want, right? So why do you punish the ones who actually want to have icons on? Not everyone has time or energy to "git gud" or explore every nook and cranny on first playtrough.
And that actually leads me to another issue- why doesnt the bird tag enemies/objectives anymore? With this single move, youve effectively removed any point of even having the bird.
Whats wrong letting people of all skill levels- and those who dont have as much time to spare- enjoy the game like the people who can sink hundreds upon hours into game for no end? I tought Odyssey balance in that regard was great- want a challenge with no icons? you got it. Want easy ride with all-you-can-see feast? you got it.
Again, i love the game and i know im probably in minority, but i just cant help but to be disappointed just how much this games UI is ignoring people who just dont have the same time or energy.
