Now in Ubisoft Connect I see this, which wasn't there before, but I can't even click on it, there's no way to play:
And, rather curiously, the free weekend is no longer in my account? Despite the first screenshot showing the exact opposite.
So I click on the button "Add to My Games" and I get this.
Obviously I have neither cdkey nor activation code, how can it be not valid.
This is starting to be kind of comical, kind of frustrating.
Please, any suggestion is appreciated.

I apologize I don't understand what you mean.
I close Ubisoft Connect (I presume) and then jump out of what to try what? -

I want to state again that the problem is not isolated to Ubisoft+ subscribers. See here: https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/106633/free-weekend-unable-to-start-game?lang=en-US
The obvious response is to extend the free weekend duration by the time that will be required to fix this issue. -

I have not been able to run the game during the free weekend.
If I attempt to click play I get the error message:
"UNABLE TO START THE GAME.
This product cannot be activated right now, please try again later."
I have been trying for several hours now.
What must I do to play the game?
