Game has frozen for me several times now in side Ravensthorpe. I'm trying to do the egg hunt but have to manually save after each egg as I keep losing progess due to the freezing. I'm also on Xbox One.
@Ubi-Woofer @Ubi-Borealis Could you guys pretty please notify the devs of this? I've also tweeted Ubisoft Support. This is time limited and every day these crashes aren't fixed are days I can do the event less. Time is literally of the essence.
I've done the challenge 11 times now. To compare, I did the bear and raven trials and got gold on my first try. With this one, I seem to get a total score of 940/1000, which is 660/720 for indirect kills. Twice did I end on 690/720, but never 720.
I've been following several youtube guides (see bottom for links). In some of these videos people even instakill an enemy with a direct fire arrow and it still counts for them.
I've killed all enemies on the map with indirect fire, getting 30 points per kill, having checked each and every single one of them. During my 11th attempt I saw an enemy highlighted by Odin's sight die due to fire spreading on the ground without granting me the 30 points for an indirect kill, I got 0 for that enemy. Even though the kill was indirect.
I've done this mission 11 times in a row, i've done the exact same way of killing as the people in the below linked videos and almost always end up at 660 indirect kill points with a point total of 940. It seems there's always one or two enemies that gets killed by indirect stuff (like fire spreading on the ground or explosions) but not counting. That makes this mission pretty RNG as you have to kill each and every single guard with indirect fire. One miscount by the system and you're screwed.
Can't you guys just spawn one or two more? Why make it so that you have to kill every single enemy with indirect fire or it fails? This is just pointing out the flaws of your system, not counting indirect kills correctly...
I've finally been able to get gold after 20 attempts. I made absolutely sure every enemy died by either direct hits with a fire arrow, or being set on fire by and fire arrow and dying because of it. None of the enemies died by spreading fire or exploding barrels, thus I got all points. Wich is absolutely weird as exploding barrels and spreading fire are definitely indirect damage.
If you want the gold medal, only go for direct fire arrow shots, ignore the complete surroundings (explosive barrels, hanging debris, etc).
I can't even walk around in the Ostara area without freezing. Finally been able to gather the eggs from around Ravensthorpe, but every time i've entered the Ostara area my game freezes and then crashes within 1-2 min (usually within 40 sec - 1 min).
To @Ubi-Borealis, it's definitely related to the event, personally for me it seems to happen when I entered the Ostara area of Ravensthorpe beforehand. based upon this: I loaded into my save from yesterday where I was inside the longhouse and was able to get 6 eggs without problems. I had one left to do, I entered the Ostara area, and blam freeze. I reloaded, running out of the Ostara area, blam feeze. Reloaded again, but now I was not inside the Ostara area (like my initial loading this morning in the longhouse), no freeze. That's my experiences so far.
I also notice walking towards the Ostara area causes a small hickup when walking over any of the bridges, like Eivor is running into something. I saw some people mention it before too in this thread. Pretty weird.
And I notice walking around in Ravensthorpse it's also a bit laggy, normally it's 100% smooth. Maybe they're memory leaks?
I agree about the difficulty. The challenges are extremely unforgiving for the higher medals, the Wolf challenge at the very first place requires the player to kill every single guard that's on the map with indirect damage. Even if you only miss one, you can say goodbye to your gold medal. Whilst the melee challenge has several enemies to spare, I got that on my first try, killing one or two enemies with the wrong type of attack, still getting my points.
I made a post about that specific challenge here: https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/99091/wenlocan-outpost-mastery-challenge-trial-of-the-wolf-bugged-not-counting-all-indirect-kills It would have been 1000% better it it had at least one extra enemy to spare, as since the game doesn't count indirect kills correctly, it seems 90% of the time at least one enemy dies by an explosion or fire on the ground but isn't counted as an indirect kill, thus not giving any points.
Also, for the mastery challeges at the northwestern part of England, maybe it's worth to give a little tutorial for the controls? Just a popup or something... I need to stun enemies with no bow to be used, and start with a spear. I have no clue whatsover how to stun enemies than building up stun with heavy melee attacks, which always kills them. Parrying etc doesn't seem to work. As I have no clue what button to use on Xbox One, that challenge is impossible.
@azullfr Good to hear it helped!
@Ubi-Borealis Glad I was finally able to get gold after so many attempts myself. I felt like I had studied every single thing about this challenge as I just couldn't understand why I wasn't getting gold despite doing what was required, I hope it somehow helped for the devs. If you guys require any more details, lemme know.
Unfortunately I couldn't get a video more clear than this. It's a split second where you see the npc being highlighted in red after I use Odin's sight and the small explosion happens which kills him, but it does clearly show (with the points not going up).
I had the exact same thing on my second try. Some enemy blew himself up or something with an explosive barrel, and I encountered his corpse lying about further on, so I could stop trying again as one kill missing means you won't get gold.
They really need to tone done the difficulty on the wolf challenges, not being able to even miss a single enemy to gather points (killing him without an headshot in this case) and not getting gold is way to harsh. The other in Wenlocan camp is the same story, I filed a bug report about that one too. Some kills not being counted as indirect damage even though it was. Just one enemy not counting correctly and you can kiss goodbye to the gold medal
Please Ubisoft. I get these need to be a challenge, but these wolf challenges are too much. We can't help it if an enemy suicides or the game doesn't count indirect damage directly. But we are getting punished for it this way.
Also. enemies keep walking against the invisible walls that are surrounding the camp. They go search for Eivor after hearing an explosion, walk outside the pallisade wall and up against one of the boundries, just keep walking up against it, at most I have seen 3 enemies do this right next to eachother.
On top of that, sometimes lighting my arrow on fire in a brazier, it almost instantly goes out again, so after two seconds of aiming i'm already shooting a regular arrow. This seems incredibly random though, as sometimes the arrows stay burning a lot longer. I never had that problem outside the challenge, even so that I had to shoot the arrow just because Eivor wouldn't put her bow away due to the infinite burning arrow. During this mission, not so much. 40% of the time the fire on the arrow goes out before being able to aim and shoot.
Put the wrong counting of the system, the fire on the arrows going out too soon, and the enemies walking into the boundries around the map together, and you got yourself a recipe for breaking a controller and getting a headache.
30-45 seconds? My "Checking for add-ons" takes literally several minutes. It takes about 4 minutes to get into the main menu, and then when I load my save, it takes another 3-4 minutes. I'm playing on Xbox One and it has never been quick, but it's getting worse by the update. I often boot the game to the splash menu, press A, walk away and get some drink downstairs, go to the toilet, come back and it is still "checking for add-ons"... sigh.
@Ubi-SpaceCats Why was this moved to the general discussion forum? I don't get it. I made a bug report about the note showing up too early, i'm not trying to have a casual conversation...
I went to Reda just now and suddenly I have only one contract available from him. It's been a long time since I had this problem (many months) so i'm not happy it's back.I didn't have any trouble up until today but suddenly he only offers me just one (yesterday I had the Thieving Couple and the missing person who's always being held at the bandit camp "Forest Hideout" in East Anglia). I'm used to having the same set of 5 or 6 contracts being offered by Reda (that missing person, the thieving couple, a couple of wolves just outside Ravensthorpe, a jomsvikingr platrolling with three big guys as weekly quest) so it gets boring pretty fast, but I noticed it became even more dull since the thieving couple has been the mission for several days in a row now. Came here and apparently it's not just me.
Just like many months ago when the same problem occured and was reported and then fixed, I went ahead to the Thousand Eyes child in Lincoln to pick up the second mission, which back then worked (it's was only related to Reda himself). But currently, he hasn't got the second mission for me either Saving, quitting to the title screen and reloading the save doesn't work either (which has worked in some cases in the past too). So it seems there's no way to fix this from our end.
Just an FYI: I can confirm this bug is still in the newest version of the game.
I was looking into my old reports in this thread (see above and the previous page) and it seems a few of the typos were never fixed. Was that intentional? The "Deathly Dull Manuscript", "A Faded Letter on Papyrus", "Letter from Guthorm the Wise" and "Threat" haven't been changed (I won't mention the ones I reported since the start of 2022 as those are probably simply too new).
I do still think the missing interpunction in Deathly Dull Manuscript looks weird. And I'm 99% sure that the sentence in "Letter from Guthorm the Wise" isn't correct English with that word missing, but maybe it's me? Reading back it seems the report about "A Faded Letter on Papyrus" was probably never reported to the devs, I think. And the report about "Threat" might be too recent to be fixed yet? (nov last year)
@Ubi-Borealis Is there an easy way for you to see if the devs decided they wouldn't change them? Or if they haven't been send those letters? Or that they're simply in the backlog? I have no idea how things work behind the screens. Since the answer of the Ubi representative below the two reports which included "A Faded Letter on Papyrus" was singular and not plural I think that one was accidentally skipped. But i'm not sure.
As a followup to my last message. As expected, both challenges were marked as done over night so it currently seems to have just big delays between you doing the objective and Ubisoft Connect counting them as done. It did count everything for me personally, eventually.
My 4 kills with a raven from yesterday counted and now show in Ubisoft Connect, but not the kills I made today. There does still seem to be a huge delay, hopefully my kills do show up tomorrow, or at least before the challenge period is over.
I'm playing on Xbox One, and no Raven kills are counting. Nor River Raid mode played. When looking in Ubisoft Connect even the community challenge is still on 0/100.000 so it's definitely a thing related to Ubisoft Connect itself not counting stuff.
I can confirm the invisible wall (at least the one in Dublin) is still there in the latest patch. I would've thought it fixed by now (almost a year later), but seems it's a lot more difficult to fix than I anticipated.
@ubi-gizmo Absolutely no problem, thanks for forwarding this!
@ubi-theberry I just found another.
This time in a letter send to Eivor's room in Ravensthorpe after completion of The Siege of Paris DLC. In the "Letter from Charles" it says in the first sentence: "Eivor of Raven Clan,", which needs a "the" after "of" and before "Raven". Like so: "Eivor of the Raven Clan,"
@ubi-borealis Thank you very much for the quick handling and reponse! I knew I could count on you, you're the absolute best
