Ubisoft Paris should consider studying SOCOM I & II's AI teammates. While rescuing hostages sitting on bombs, the mission failed twice because my teammates decided to throw frags at hostiles standing next to the hostages. It's missions like these where micromanaging is high in demand. There were even occasions when my teammates threw frags at myself. In the Azrael mission at the Omega site, my teammates decided to throw a grenade while I was in the middle of the hangar and still undetected. Thanks guys, I guess we're going loud from here.
Had this been SOCOM, I would have equipped my teammates with flashbangs prior to deploying. They would not engage unless ordered to or in danger close situations. They would not deploy a frag or flashbang un-commanded, ever! They would only deploy these weapons when I needed them to and at specified the target area that I needed it deployed to. SOCOM made the player feel more like a Ghost Lead than Ghost Recon ever has.
They way I'm looking at NFTs, if this is the future of gaming, then I'm done with gaming. Games aren't dying, they are being killed by their own publishers making poor decisions.
Here's something humorous in regards to NFTs
@sandilands85 Just some feedback. Sorry I've been away from the forums these last few months. Going through a change in my life at the moment now that I'm officially a civilian. All positive changes like got a new job, house hunting, changing state residences, etc.
Focusing on the question regarding wearing enemy uniform, personally not something I would do, but if it were an option I think it should have come with consequences. Example, allied forces like the rebels mistake your Ghost Team as enemy forces. Enemy checkpoints on roads and installations enforce 100% ID checks in the region. Probably the same should occur for using enemy vehicles?
As for enemies on trains, I would like to see them more related to convoys and what is being transported by train depends on the level of it's defenses. Some having helicopter escorts, others with mounted AA guns, and others lightly defended by personnel on board only. But one thing for sure this concept should have is to give the players options on how to seize the cargo, onboard HVT, or free prisoners on board. They could either infiltrate the train while it's on the move or get intel of it's destination and intercept the train at its scheduled stop.
Lastly, as for the question of how often should DLCs drop, I wish there was an answer choice for "when they're good and ready." I'll take a patient wait for good content over rushed to deadline content any day.
I'm not giving any support to this NFT idea.
@Church367A it's all for those crypto bro investors. It's so pathetic that in Ghost Recon's last tweet in regards to Quartz drops, it was the first ever to hashtag tezos which invited the crypto bros and bots to like comments arguing for NFTs (as well as argue for it themselves) in the thread. You can spot them with their ".tez" in their twitter handles.
For me, the pros outweigh the cons for this update, but its biggest con comes after liberating all of Auroa. Once it's done, the only way to put objectives in the world is to reset the conquest which only gives the player the same objectives as before. I would settle if they put faction missions in the Motherland mode with the theme that the Bodark are trying to retake control of a province. What would be preferred is that when the Bodark retake a pivotal installation, it affects the world as it did before. Say you're on your way to the Ammunition Depot in Sinking Country to respond to the Bodark trying to take it over from the Outcasts, but on your way, you notice the Azrael drones are back in the skies. This would let the player know that all of Restricted Area has fallen back into the hands of the Bodark. Like the story mode faction missions, random objectives are created in the Restricted Area, but they are all related to sabotaging all of the Azraels.
This is one of the many things that bother me with this game. It's not just the variants, its all of the ASRs and SMGs. For instance, the G36 should have a single, a two round burst, and full auto. The majority of the weapons should have a default 3 modes of fire.
I think Ghost Recon will do very well if it was more tailored to squad based military tactical shooters in general. Something that says "if you love SOCOM, you'll like GR. If you love ARMA, Operation Flash Point, SWAT, etc... you'll like GR.
The more Ghost Recon leans casual, the more un-immersive the game seems to be. I'm not saying it should go full hardcore, though I would be happy if it did, but it certainly would be a better game with a more serious tone. Not just with the mechanics but they also need to end the goofy NPC dialog voiced by just a small handful of voice actors. Instead it needs to be more real-world believable dialogue, reactions, and interactions. The story needs to be a military thriller rather than a story like Breakpoint's that would fit well in a cartoon series, but not in a Tom Clancy book.
If there is to be a squad based military tactical military shooter that is fit for a wider and more casual friendly audience, make a new IP then. Don't make an already existing IP barely recognizable from it's origin.
My good vs bad...
The different areas with different difficulties is a + but the difficulty itself wasn't too impressive. The Tactician constantly calling in back up is a game changer.
I liked the No Fly Zones, however I think I would have preferred a barrage of SAMs or air to air combat instead of drone swarms. It's a trivial preference though.
I was very disappointed in the decision to make more enemies with the pop off helmets. I would have preferred a shield rusher partnered up with a shot gunner or something instead of failing to fool my brain to think popping off a helmet with a bullet is practical. The Dreadnoughts to me were just annoying noob tubers who were slow on the trigger. Knowing where they're going to hit as the red highlighted blast area illuminates the ground made them ineffective.
Weapon mastery is good, though I'm disappointed there wasn't a reload speed category. Mobility makes a humungous difference when moving while aiming. Huge +.
It seems like enemies can instantly identify friend from foe when driving past them. Understandable during the day, though some vehicles it's hard to believe given the size of the windows. At night, there's no difference.
I noticed my teammates no longer suppress their weapons when I suppress mine. Maybe its just a PS4 Pro issue? not sure. I can concur with Hugo about Vasily's displayed Recon A1. They still need work as they are now throwing grenades at the hostages and even at myself at times. Why we can't micromanage when they throw a frag and what type of frag they should throw continues to baffle me. Still disappointed in lack of teammate banter. I will repeat my suggestion that the next Ghost Recon have both verbal and physical interactions among the teammates themselves and Ghost Lead. They should behave together as if they were a tight family, not new coworkers they just met yesterday.
I wish I could switch the IR illuminator on and off. If not, then just have them automatically turn on when aiming down the sights and automatically turn off when not aiming.
The briefings are good, but need some fine touch ups. Bowman seems to know everything about the region and its not explained how. Throw in "based on rebel intel" or "satellite images suggest" to help fill in those nuances. It would have been better to physically meet up with Bowman and/or Ito at abandoned sites for the briefings at times. Especially in low difficulty areas or after plenty of destabilizing in the region has taken place.
Sadly the destabilization has 0 effect on civilian activity. Auroa will never be like Bolivia. There are still characters on the island that Nomad interacted with in the past who have skills and could have helped or made an appearance in this update. I don't really miss them that much, but they would have added significant context to the Outcasts being better fighters.
My least favorite missions were the timed missions that were spread too far out. Some of them were missing a lot of context, especially in understanding what the Bodark were trying to accomplish by dragging hostages far off to another location to put them on pressure sensitive bomb triggers. It would have been excellent if we could get intel from one hostage to find the location of another hostage instead of following blood trails. Even if they don't know the precise location the Bodark took the remaining hostages to, they could still say "they headed east toward ________." It also would have been brutal of the Bodark to use the hostages as bait at times.
My favorite missions were rescuing hostages being held at gun point and rescuing the prisoners from the Detention Center.
Much of the cosmetics are meh. The only set I particularly care for was the subdued USA patch and Delta Tactical Gear bundle. I'm glad the FS fans got some gear finally and many of the cosmetics that could not be color coded before now have that option. Sad about the battle belt still inseparable from the characters. Ice Quinn is still waiting on that long hair/don't care back order.
The weather effects are commendable. I don't know why though, but it feels night hours are short lived compared to daylight hours.
I think what was missing was continuous defending and attacking regions or strongholds in a tug of war between the Bodark and Outcasts. Enemies having unified tactics as opposed to individual tactics. Ito having her own high ranking officers that we could rescue from the Bodark and later coordinate attacks with. Outcasts and Bodark using ground vehicles with cannon turrets against each other. The Outcasts using drones against the Bodark - which could lead to another content update where the Outcasts split into 2 factions that are still kind of an alliance, but on shaky ground as one faction is for using the drones for defenses while the other faction remains against the idea of militarized drones. Overall, I think Motherland has made Breakpoint a far better game despite some of it's flaws. This is a really good DLC compared to the majority of the previous ones we've been getting.

Just putting this video here for anyone who doesn't understand NFTs or anyone who wants to understand them more. The video is long as it covers where NFTs come from, but it gets in good depth behind the vanity concept of it all and why NFTs aren't good for anything.
They way I'm looking at NFTs, if this is the future of gaming, then I'm done with gaming. Games aren't dying, they are being killed by their own publishers making poor decisions.
Honestly, the only Predator content I enjoyed and used the most were the camo face paints because they look more authentic than much of the face paints that were available. If they were ported to Breakpoint, those face paints would be the only face paints that appear as real world face camouflage in the game. Ok, maybe aside from 2 or three patterns available in Breakpoint.
I think after MS spending almost $70 billion, they're likely not going to buy anyone else up for a while. There's now a very good possibility that future COD titles will be exclusive to Xbox leaving Sony in need of a good military shooter for their players. They should very much consider bringing back SOCOM which would be cheaper for them. If they don't, then they just might have to reach in their pockets to pick up Ubisoft and its Tom Clancy IPs.
As luck would have it, my close friend who is also an extremely close friend to SOCOM's original creative director is coming to my military retirement ceremony next month and its very likely this conversation will come up. Although it's possible, but very not likely, that before my ceremony, Sony may already have a public announcement or notable leak regarding a plan to satisfy their military shooter customers.
Personally I'd wish they go with the SOCOM option. I have a concern that Sony could eye Ubisoft for those Frontline and XDefiant titles specifically because they directly compete with COD for the casual shooter audience. That could be bad for us.
In the early days, the Battle Reward system ended up being broken for faction missions so the studio discarded it. Many if not all of the items were just given to the players or became available in Maria's shop.
@clemsondriver
To me, all of this NFT bs is a waste of both player and developer time. More so, a waste of the player's money when transactions get involved. This is by far the best video explaining the lunacy of it all.
@church367a Yeah I saw they reposted the tweet just after I posted about it here. And I was mistaken on 2 things. It was the P320 in the earlier (deleted) tweet and the camo was the Sentinel urban camo, not the wolves'.
