If you are having the in game freezes where video is stalled but there is still sound AND/OR you have random CTD within 15-30m of game time. Please check your Event Viewer>Windows Log>Application: Source: Windows Error Reporting
Highlight that , it should be at the top. Check if Event Name is D3DDRED2.
If it is, please report that and make a ticket. The more people do, maybe the quicker it gets patched.
You can google it and see that other games have had this issue which turned out to be Memory Leak and patches have been required to fix it. Also stems from DX12 errors.
***Yes I've tried all the other suggested "fixes" including increasing the pagefile size.***
Good Luck all, Hope this get's patched soon. Hard to get immersed in a game that will randomly kick you out back to desktop.
At first launch I was able to get into menu. Set graphics to High setting and run benchmark. Completed with 74fps average.
Hit play and it froze.
Closed, relaunched game and nothing. It just hangs and not completely launching the game.
Restarted PC and game still doesn't launch.
PC:
R53600
RX 5700 ( latest 11.1.20 drivers)
16GB RAM
Same boat since launch. Frustrating AF. As many of us that seem to be reporting this it's not listed as a technical issue in the top pinned post on this sub. Why release a broken game??? Take a cue from CDProjekt and delay until it's worth releasing.
Same issues as everyone. Did all the suggested troubleshooting. Submitted ticket.

@lennestal
Just went through 3 freezes within 30min of trying to play. Going to give this a try.
@lennestal
Got about 20min of gametime and then crashed to desktop.
Thanks for the tip though.
@troopercooper80
Yeah you are correct.
As I looked into it more and saw that it may be driver related, I dropped down to 2 other wqhl drivers for my card (AMD RX5700) and still got the random freezing or CTD. So I'm back on the latest driver that is supposed to be optimized for ACValhalla.
Another post in Nvidia's forums with D3D errors was CoDWarzone related and showed underclocking/undervolting GPU worked for them in reducing the CTD and D3D errors. I also tried that with no positive result. /sigh
Since many posts here on this forum state their issues did not come about til the 1.02 patch I'm also concluding it's a coding issue relating to the API. I think we'll have to wait for another patch that get's these issues worked out.
@johnweakaimbot
Correct. It's not just an Nvidia or AMD gpu issue. I'm using an AMD RX5700. I just did a full windows update, uninstalled and reinstalled latest drivers again.
I haven't been able to get past the menu screen. When I check the event viewer after each crash, the D3DDRED2 error is there each time.
I don't think I've jumped through more hoops just to TRY to play a game than this one.. aside from Ghost Recon Breakpoint (LOL.. also a Ubisoft game).
I have no confidence AT ALL with Farcry 6 when it releases.
Same here. Latest patch f'd up everything. Been trying to play consistently since release, had these same issues before. Submitted a ticket and it took several emails back and forth til the game was playable. Now it's back to crashing at the splash screen, frozen video w/ music looping in the background. [censored]?!
Hey Ubi, I'd have more than 6% progress if I could actually play this game without it freezing up. Putting in another ticket seems like a waste of time.

*Update* (fingers crossed)
Through a couple of helpful emails in response to my support ticket and applying what was suggested I have finally been able to play more than 30min without the game crashing to desktop. Was even able to run the benchmark twice, one after the other. Whereas before it would CTD if I tried to bench again after changing settings.
Did some exploring in England just chasing the gold marks on the map and after an hour and a half I was able to just close the game on my own. Which was the first time I could do that instead of it just crashing on me since installing it on release day.
Make your support ticket and upload the files asked for. I hope the rest of you get your game issue resolved.
(After writing all that now I'm paranoid that when I try playing again I'll get a CTD.)

Well F me! At least I was able to play an hour of it and at least get to the ship. Took a break and I come back and NOW I'M CRASHING AT THE SPLASH SCREEN AGAIN!
This is ridiculous. I hope a patch is coming and soon. I'm glad I only paid for UbiConnect sub for $15 and not $60+ for retail. At least I can play a little Watchdogs Legion before I cancel this crap.
Update:
I reinstalled to C (Nvme-SSD) drive and still crashed. I reinstalled to my Game Drive (HDD) which my Ubisoft connect install is and still crashed. Then I tried a trick I used when GR-Breakpoint was giving me the same problems. I used SteamMover to create a Symlink from Game Drive to my C drive and now it works. (How the heck that actually let's it run is beyond me and I can't make sense of it, but I'll take it.)
Now I'm crossing my fingers because usually any patches that come from this point will break it. And I'll probably have to redo the steps again to have it work. Same as GR-Breakpoint, which is another Ubisoft game LOL.
The bad thing is I know that this will NOT work for everyone. But it's another option for you if you have separate drives to try it on. Good Luck!
