Unsolved River raid crew died when I wasn't river raiding

I traveled to Vinland to start the series of quests there, and when I was running into one of Gorm's camps I had a popup notice that my entire crew fallen in battle and I needed to hire new Jomsvikings. It seems strange that my crew can die in raids that aren't actually happening, unless they are going out on their own while I'm away.

Hey @nerdlor, your Jomsvikings should be only raiding with you during river raids. Have you checked on your recruits back at your settlement to see if anyone is missing after noticing the message? If you encounter this message once again, could you provide a screenshot or a video clip of this behavior as well?
