I see many players reporting bugs about customized gamepad controls. Like them, I'm using a custom configuration to reproduce the control scheme of Origins and Odyssey (essentially D-Pad Up for calling the Raven, D-Pad Down for whistling).

    undefined

Since update 1.2.2 unfortunately, when pressing D-Pad Down to whistle or call the horse, Eivor will automatically equip a torch while whistling. It didn't happen in previous versions.

If I keep the original function (Quick Actions Wheel) on D-Pad Down, the torch doesn't pop up. What is strange is that there's not even a default button in the gamepad configuration to equip a torch, so it's not supposed to happen!

    Hello there!

I apologise for the delayed update. I'm happy to confirm that a fix for this issue was deployed in TU 1.3.2. We will now be marking this thread as resolved.

As we have had no reports of issues persisting when trying to use custom controls, we will also now be locking this thread.

If you encounter any further trouble with your custom controls, please don't hesitate to create a new thread so we can investigate further.

    Thanks! 😊

I am playing on PC with mouse and keyboard and after 1.2.2 update I can't talk to anyone or interact with anything. I am using "F" for primary interaction. It works if I remap it to other key but it is unplayable for me because all my life I have been using "F" for interaction/talking.

I am on PS4 and having the same issue. Can't speak to anyone nor interact with anything. As usual the devs can't release a single thing without breaking something else. I just can't see how this is a constant issue for Valhalla.

I am here to report to you guys that I no longer can crouch with R1 which I set it for crouch button on PlayStation .. I have controller scheme same as AC Odyssey .. I can Dive with R1 underwater and I can also drop from Buildings or mountains with R1 .. Just only thing that is not working after installing update 1.22 on PS5 is crouch with R1, before the update it was working .. other buttons working as workaround momentarily solution such as circle for crouch .. I have 225 Hours Gameplay all with R1 button for crouching and other stuff .. It's very Important to me , to the point where I'm hesitant to play as crouching is very important part of the game to stay stealthy .. bugs happen with new updates .. and that's why we as players who play the game and discover that are here to report for a fix as soon as possible and let you guys know ..

When there's fix deployed hopefully very soon as it's only a button and only crouching that need fix for R1 .. please let me know .. so I set it to R1 for crouching ..

    Thanks ..

@mk_2014 I came here to report the same issue, I wasn't able to crouch with R1 either. While they fix this, they should also add button mapping for stealing.

Custom button remapping is broken in 1.2.2, whether on kbm or on gamepad. Some buttons (like Y for interaction) will stop working if you also have remapped them for other functions (like Y for assassinate).

@azullfr cheers, much appreciated. I'll give this a go, although shouldn't really be necessary for me to this

Just got back on today and downloaded the new 1.2.2 update with the new challenges and gear. Until I loaded up the game and it will not let me interact with anyone or anything in the game. Each time I go to interact with anything, nothing happens. The interaction command will disappear when I press it but returns when I release the button, never going through with any commands. I was playing the game fine until the update, now my game is unplayable. Can you help?

I’ve noticed that other players have reported this similar bug, but I wanted to note my specific experiences to add a little more information. I use a custom control scheme and assigned the ‘A’ button for primary interaction and assassinations. I noticed that when I reassigned the assassination function, the ‘A’ button did work for primary interaction again. However, I am now facing problems with conflicting commands overriding the ability to assassinate the way I would like to.

A stranger issue is that I had the bottom D-Pad button assigned to whistling and calling for my horse, but after the update, my Eivor pulls out a torch. This had never even been a feature in the game before (you have to go through the quick-action wheel to do it). I saw that an instant torch was not even in the command menu for custom controls, so I was pretty perplexed by this bug. I have since switched my quick-action wheel to the lower D-Pad and moved the whistle/horse button to the left D-Pad, which made the torch problem go away.

The strangest problem that I cannot currently figure out is the fact that my right bumper (RB) will not allow my Eivor to crouch/drop/slide. This is particularly weird because I have no other function conflicts with the ‘RB’ button. I even tried holding down the button and nothing happened.

I have not played long enough to see if any of the other controls are broken because not being able to crouch was the game-killer for me (I do a lot of stealth). I sincerely hope a patch is rolled out soon to allow players to resume their desired custom control schemes. I also think Ubisoft should petition Microsoft to allow for custom control assignments to the new capture button. Having another button would certainly help alleviate the amount of control functions featured in this game.

    Thanks.

so I remapped my buttons and it worked for me since the start one of those maps is where I use right bumper to crouch my character. And I swapped B with dodge and roll and X is light attack and Y is heavy attack an Right trigger is parkour. But since the recent update 1.2.2 right bumper to crouch does not work anymore. It always worked even if I had right bumper for smoke screen and alternate shoot too so I don’t know why it doesn’t work suddenly. Please fix this Ubisoft I can’t switch my buttons because my control scheme is so good to me and now it won’t work

@droooopie This is pc by the way. I had my keybind saved to F and when I switched it to another key it worked. But when I switched it backed to F it still didn't work. Still could use some help.

    Hi!
for all of us who play with gamepad and alternative controls similar to oddysey / origins, we have several errors in the schematic ...
for example when we take 1 object or body by pressing LT to aim and press the "Y" button to throw, nothing happens and we can never throw objects / bodies etc ...
Another error that has arisen with update 1.2.2 is that we cannot interact with the NPCs if our main interact button is the "A" button, and yet another error is that if we are using the bow with LT pressed we cannot dodge with the "B" button (I repeat all this with some Odyssey-like controls on the Xbox gamepad)
Please can you fix these bugs for people who use the alternate control type why don't we like to use "RT and RB" to fight?
It would also be a solution to introduce a native alternative control scheme ...
I hope this can be solved, thank you!

    P.S. Sorry for my English

@droooopie I have the same issue on Xbox one. Can’t interact with npc’s or objects. Tried fast travel on atlas, changing the input button on the controller and reloading old saves. Nothing has fixed it. Game is unplayable.
