@longjohn119 Thanks! I get my first shot today. Maybe this will be a good summer. Hopefully things are going well for you.
@yesin069 Does this youtuber just want everyone even vaguely involved to be lynched, or what? Nothing seems to be good enough for this dude. Comes off as just raw virtue signalling. Incredibly cynical. I get people are concerned about this, but jeez.
Dealing with harassment claims in a company isn't as simple as just firing everyone involved. You have to rely on actual evidence, and taking into account everyone involved, and everyone's experiences. ANONYMOUSLY. Even if Ubisoft were to be more transparent with this matter, it would be breaking the code of their own legal guidelines. You cannot name people in these cases. Even 'receipts' from text messages, aren't enough to hold water in some cases. In a corporate environment, these things have to be approached with some nuance. They have stated time and again, like every company in the world essentially, that the frameworks are in place to deal with issues like these. What more is this guy expecting them to do? Does he want to go in an investigate it himself or something?
He says 'people need to be trained not to harass people!!?'
Yes. They do. It's called liability. If you work with children, you receive training on what can be construed as, and how to recognise signs of abuse. You cannot ask 'leading' questions, etc. etc. It's the same with any working environment. You are trained on how to deal with these things. Ubisoft has these same frameworks in place. What more can they do?
I think this guy is just generally ignorant on actually working in a big company, or anywhere you have to actually deal with other people.
Please, do not take his word as verbatim. He's a youtuber. Not a paralegal.
Just wanted to add my voice to clarify that #HoldUbisoftAccountable is not about microtransactions or other various aspects of the game.
I understand that those are things that some people (in some cases, myself included) do not like lately, but I think it's important to avoid hijacking a discussion about abuse and harassment in favor of comparatively much smaller issues like the loss of social stealth.
If you're interested in learning more about what people are concerned about, you can read more in articles like this one: (https://screenrant.com/ubisoft-abuse-allegations-holdubisoftaccountable-trends-twitter/).
Also, I'd throw out there that this movement is about genuinely wanting to see progress. This isn't about trashing a company for no reason, but hoping to encourage administration to make positive change in a situation that definitely seems to need it.
I hope to feel proud to support Ubisoft again someday.
@orcbeard92
I also understand that it isnt possible to just fire everyone in a huge company. Especially higher management people. At least he mentions this problem and doesnt forget it. Often times we forget cruel stuff like that very fast. Just try to think about the people that encouraged themselve to speak out loud about this stuff just to get this problem forgotten about after less than one year.
It is even worse to just say nothing about this problem. For me it is better to speak about it and dont let this stuff be forgotten. We cant help those women directly but at least we can make this problem dont be forgotten.
Especially in this corona crisis i gained the sake to help and change some stuff. Dont let higher ups just do what they want. They have the power to let us forget about things like that very fast. Just release a new good game or make a pseudo company for "Women at Ubisoft" or "AC Sisterhood" and everything is forgotten. These women probably got their lives destroyed and I dont have a problem with it when guys like Fizhy arent satisfied with the stuff Ubisoft did after that. I always have high praise for people that raise their voice and use their reach for stuff like that - even if this means Ubisoft will never give them any review copies again. This means they dont care just about money and are actual people that care about others. This also means that they sometimes overreact but harassement and abuse against anyone is a point where I can live with overreations...this is better than just forgetting about it.

I got my second shot about 10 days ago, the only side effect either time was a sore arm the next day, more of a slight annoyance than an actual side effect ..... Actually got to go to my nephew's youngest boy's birthday party Saturday which they had to call off last year .... I'm still exercising caution in public as mask wearing is on an "Honor System" and unfortunately there are a lot of dishonorable people lying about being vaccinated when they are not ..... Hopefully this doesn't blowback on us but I don't have a lot of confidence in that, too many selfish people
@orcbeard92 What do you expect from a guy with a video titled "Odyssey broke me" ..... If you get broken by a video game you have problems bigger than just Ubisoft ...LOLOL
Valhalla certainl;y didn't break me no matter how much I dislike the current state, I just went on to play other games that did work ..... Now I'm going back and playing games I missed because I took a break and I wasn't playing when they came out .... Nice thing is unlike Ubisoft games they can be modded to look and play better, not quite as good as most modern games but not bad none the less ..... Right now I'm playing the two Witcher 3 expansions I never got around to playing before (It looks really good with the latest texture mods) and am torn between Witcher 2 and Elder Scrolls Oblivion for what I'll play next .... Witcher 2 cost me $2.49 and Oblivion was $4.99 so I'm sure I'll get my money's worth ..... If nothing else at least I'll get some backstory to Witcher 3 and Skyrim
After playing 20 mins of Valhalla I seriously want my money back and cant even continue this hunk of garbage. So disappointed. Within 2 mins I was already bashing my head against the desk over the controller changes which only fueled my rage for every little thing I did at that point was now a struggle in my head over how terrible the controls were. After 20 mins i just shut the game off not even going to play it. I now I will really consider hard ever buying another AC game if they are going to stray this far off the formula for every new version of the game it wont even be AC anymore.
honestly just in terms of the microtransaction [censored], the thing that pisses me off the most is how they basically made the cash grab more and more predatory as time went on. They didn't have level scaling on at launch, but they silently added it later on to avoid the initial critical outcry while still incentivizing boosters and making the grind pointless. They made more paid outfits in the game than normal ones, and also gave those helix outfits better perks to incentivize purchase. They made it even harder to earn this [censored] in the game than it was in Odyssey. In Odyssey, gear pieces were cheaper AND you could get twice as much special currency per week (for example the same type of armor piece costs 80 orichalcum in Odyssey as opposed to Valhalla's 100 or 120 Opal. Additionally, Odyssey's daily quests gave 10 orichalcum as opposed to Valhalla's 5 opal and the weekly quests were 40 orichalcum against Valhalla's 20 opal.) Not only did they make more sets in the store than they did in the actual game, but a lot of those sets are just reskins of sets from Valhalla AND previous games, AND they increased the price of helix store items, AND they made the price of a full set just above the smallest helix credit pack amount so that paying the minimum possible amount isn't viable, AND they sneaked in boosters that they intentionally avoided having at launch to avoid criticism, AND they paired those boosters with the integration of mandatory level scaling to make the grind basically pointless because it's impossible to be over-leveled, AND they're selling DLC at about 4 times the price of DLC for Origins and Odyssey, where the first DLC for Origins costs about $7 USD and the first DLC for Valhalla costs $25 USD, AND they have now locked an entire weapon type behind a DLC paywall. The predatory and frankly disgusting business practices have gotten worse and worse gradually and I'm [censored] that more people aren't calling them on this.
As for the scandals within the company. Ubisoft is [censored]. They are actively protecting predatory and disgusting people within their organization and they are clearly corrupt and completely apathetic to the struggles of the victims. [censored] Ubisoft and their persistent culture of sexism and sexual abuse. I can't really say much more than this because other people have been able to discuss it much more eloquently and effectively than I can. But it's important to say.
@comicmastery
The baddest thing was that they implemented level scaling with an update and silently added the XP booster to the story. The addition of level scaling was at leats mentioned in the patch notes. This is the biggest scandal because it happened at the same time.
Just look at the DLC of Witcher 3 and see how laughable the DLC for Valhalla is. Blood and Wine was a 20 dollar expansion with 30 to 50 hours of very high quality content and also used an improved graphics engine and redid the whole UI.
Nowadays DLC like Hivebusters for Gears 5 gets high praise. 20 dollars for a 4 hour long campaign! No wonder that Wrath of the Druids also gets praise. The people dont measure the quality, they measure just the length. Maybe 4 hours of story with 15 hours of stupid and endles grind.
@yesin069 Even Blood and Wine has problems with it's economy being grindy as hell too (I'm playing it as we speak) ...... As soon as I faced the vampire for the first time (kicked his butt and still had 2/3 of my health left) I went looking for the Cat School grandmaster armor and weapons set plans and then went back to upgrade my master set which I have been using and upgrading since level 20 (currently level 50) and I crafted as much as I could and it still cost me over 6000 just for my two swords and if I buy just the 5 Enriched Dimerithium Plates it will cost me nearly 30,000 just for the plate and that doesn't include the added upgrade costs from the blacksmith ..... As stingy as the game is for what you can sell loot for I'd be lucky to gain that much clearing every spot on the map and once I did what good would the armor set even be..... In fact I'm debating even going for it now because I wiped out a large bandit camp with ease with my level 34 Cat School set I've been wearing since level 34 plus I'm sitting on 8 points because I don't know what to spend them on because what I currently have is destroying everything I'm coming up against with only the giant toad in Hearts of Stone giving me much problems ... A big problem I have with the game in general is you have to pick armor from a single Witcher school and stick with it because there is no way in hell you can completely upgrade 2 sets much less 4 plus the Manticore set in the DLC .... Even Game Plus isn't an option to do that because they make you essentially start all over with upgrades because of the leveling system
@yesin069 its a bold and brave move for content creators to make a stand and say enough is enough and they won't cover the company until change happens. More power to the ones that are doing that.
It would have been more impressive if they had done it in November like I did and not suck down all the traffic they got when the game was new and hot ..... They have already sucked almost all the profit out of covering the game in the first 3 months after release so doing it now after they profited from it for months isn't all that impressive to me ....
@longjohn119
I feel you with that bro!
Of course Witcher 3 had issues and isnt perfect, but the amount of world detail and the love put into the quests was awesome. The baddest thing about that game truly was the item system.
Currently i am waiting for the next gen patch to come out for PC and then i will replay the whole game for the forth time. Fortunately there are mods that enable level scaling and upgrading weapons. Even without mods the game never was hard on deathmarch for me and new game plus was a lot of fun with all the great looking gear. Stats dont bother me that much.
Valhalla is a whole other story...no quest reaches the love and detail that even side quests in Witcher 3 had. I dont want to compare those games again because for me games like Witcher 3 and Red Dead 2 are on a whole nother level regarding quality, than AC games. Ubisoft builds the worlds first and than needs to fill them up with a lot of junk. The Witcher devs clearly said that they build the content first and afterwards the world space. The only thing that was bad and they apologised for it where the smugglers caches in Skellige which where a hell of a grind to finish (remember those sirens...).
@yesin069 The main reason I decided to play it again now (besides not being able to wait) is to refresh my memory with how the game goes so I can record a full playthrough with the next gen upgrade which will include Ray Tracing and DLSS 2.0 and hopefully some better distant LODs and anti-aliasing
It looks pretty damned good right now with the latest HD Reworked Project textures which are so good that CDPR hired the author to do a bunch of the textures for the upgrade
I have a small sample on my YouTube channel and it look pretty good already and the upgrade is only going to make it look even better
@longjohn119
This looks awesome. I also used that mod in my third playthrough. I am actually more excited about this game update than about any other game this year. I expect it to come out at the same time when season 2 of the Netflix series comes out.
When Ubisoft would stop copy from other games and go back to the times where AC made actually NEW things that other companies copied, they would be much more loved. They really should stop looking too much at mainstream settings. Settings like the third crusade or the renassaince where everything but mainstream, but people loved those settings because they were underused in games. A setting in medieval germany or something like that would be great for AC because this setting is rarely seen in any game. Than bring back actual assassins and improve the RPG mechanics with actual great parcour and stealth options, and they have a winner.
@cawatrooper9To be perfectly honest with you this is exactly why I'm not taking up the hashtag. It's a bunch of disgruntled Ubisoft fans angry about MTs and the way the games are going hiding behind the righteousness of being anti-abuse and it comes across as disingenuous. I want to see real change too but this isn't the way to go about it.
@animuslover
I get that.
No doubt it's frustrating. I mean, look at the direction this thread is going (there are a million other threads to complain about MTX, guys!).

I'm not taking up the hashtag because I haven't had a Twitter account in almost 6 years .... Twitter is a toxic cesspool that I never missed for one second ... It was cool and hip and then the Politicians turned it into a Propaganda Outlet and now it's just worthless Boomer garbage
