Yes,I always feeling the sound of footsteps is too loud, but the combat SFX too low. Everytime Eivor walking on snow, the sound just make me want to kill myself.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hello there,
I would like to reach out with an update from the development team regarding the investigating into this audio issue. The development team have confirmed that they will not be able to resolve this issue with sound effect volumes being unbalanced / inconsistent. You can read the full statement below:
After thorough investigation, the development team will not be able to resolve these audio issues. Resolution of this issue would require an overhaul of the entire audio system from the ground up and is not feasible. We recommend enabling subtitles to aid comprehension of dialogue.
We will now be marking this thread as "Resolved." As there has been no reports of this issue within this thread for some time, we will also be locking this thread.
If you encounter any further trouble in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, please don't hesitate to create a new thread and we'll gladly investigate further.
Thanks!
Hi all, I have a couple of hours on the game and I really tried to mentally ignore the audio problems, but I just can't anymore.
Immersion is ruined because the sound is way off in many and different circumstances.
Stepping on snow sounds awfully, same in climbing buildings and combat, without quality, deepness or impact.
If this was not bad enough, dialogue is often spoiled by an echo, like the characters are speaking in a empty house.
I had to stop playing, because I don't want to progress in the story without these issues being addressed in a proper patch.

That's exactly how I feel. The bad audio ruins everything. I can live with bugs and glitches but this audio [censored] is a no go. It's there all the time. Every step.
Have the Game for days now but wont play, because its Not enjoyble for me.
Intro: No flute playing, eivor sounds metalic, whole scenario sounds unbalaced and if some effects missing(or just to quiet) .
Visuals and camera cut are great, so very disrespectful to these guys who made them, messing up the athosmphere with the audio.
I remember the Odyssey Intro, its was "next Level³" compared to valhalla, related to audio.
Ingame: footsteps in snow lounder than hitting a shield with an axe.........
I tried different headsets, messed around with soundoptions. Nothing worked.
Audiochip: AMD b450m Motherboard
Tried external Soundblaster g1, no difference.
Advise against buying this Game if you only want to Play with headset, because possible fakt up audio.
@raski0611
I use headset, but had to turn off the virtual 7.1 system and go for 2.0 instead. It sounds somewhat more ok, but still it sounds weird.
Oh, and the speakers are not an option, not with all sounds coming with different volumes. Raise volume for speeches from NPC, Eivor responds really loud(you could wake up the neighbours). Not to mention the horn for raids. I could accept if the horn was the only of the sounds that were louder than the others. It should feel like an attacksignal.
@cavveman
Change Fake 7.1 to stereo sadly dont fix it.
Like you said, it makes it only less bad....but still wrong.
Yesterday, in a desparate attempt, i deleted the Sounddata folder(5,79 GB, german/english Soundfiles)than verify files. I was hoping the employers who were responsible maybe fixed it quietly, hush hush, to save their Jobs...and everybody would be Happy.
Footsteps/running and the horn are way to loud, is quickly become anoying. And Eivors voice. Why is he louder than anyone else. Music and nature sounds are too low in volume. I can’t believe this game could pass on the audio front. The audio team on this game should be ashamed of them selfs delivering this mess.
I just had to rage quit, cause I was fighting wolves that i can't hear, the sounds in this game are ruining it... such a shame!
@speedynl21
Yeah, and if you turn up the volume, you'll wake the whole neighbourhood if you blow the horn to start a raid.
Having the same problem on PS5, audio is not balanced at ALL. Dialogues and environmental sounds are muffled, especially when on the boat or indoors. It almost seem like characters are whispering instead of talking. Even while putting the audio range to night I am still experiencing the problem. So I crank up the sound but then its the music or combat noises that are too loud. Completely breaks immersion, I hope this gets fixed in the next patch, can't play the game as it is. Not acceptable for a AAA game.
One other (and frequent) example that surround is broken is when a pack of wolves are howling around you, it's litterally impossible to pinpoint their location as the sound seems coming from the player's position, even when rotating the camera.
I started playing on ps4 Pro and had all kinds of sound issues. But i just got a ps5 yesterday and now everything is normal. No loud eivor voice over others and footsteps a normal volume again + the annoying horn. Ambient Nature sounds and the background Music can be heard again.
For me it’s pretty clear that it’s been favorised on the newer generation since all these sound problems is on older generation consoles. Don’t know about pc. I can only speak for Playstation.
@basemix2007 The low quality audio and the other issues are definitely not just an old generation thing. It's definitely on the SX, and there have been people complaining about the audio on the PS5 in this thread as well.
@raephoz
First Story breaking issue i came across was when child eivor sound like a robot.
Didnt came across another Story breaking issue because after 50meter running trough snow my ears had enough. This are my game experiences with this Game by now and i bought it right after release.
I only got to try it for a few minutes just now since I have other stuff to do, but from what I could tell there's not much if any improvement. Many sounds are overblown still while others are silent, I don't know if some other audio issues were resolved since others said they get clipping and such, but I don't hear anything different. It's a shame, at this point I'll probably be asking for a refund as well. New games are coming out in December and I haven't been able to play this for the past few weeks when I had time to play it, so I'm getting my money back.
Edit: Or I guess not considering their support site is offline...
xbox series x audio setting LPCM 5.1 via eARC passthrough to AVR
AVR sony str-dn1080 5.1 box setup
issues:
sound volume all over the place: battle music barely hearable, raid party cries sound like hundreds metres away, war horn blasts you away though
poor quality overall like posted and explained by thread owner
most obvious in raids or siege fights: immersion = 0.
I started playing on launch day
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: Sapphire Pulse Vega 56
RAM: HyperX Predator HX432C16PB3K2 16GB 3600MHZ DDR4
Mobo: MSI Gaming Pro Carbon AC
AudioTechnica ATH M50X directly plugged into the mobo. Same issue with speakers or headphones plugged into USB sound card.
Stereo, audio settings in game do not make a difference whatsoever either
Not my video but demonstrates it well. Dialogue at 2:20 sounds like needles piercing my ears even though Varin is supposed to be whispering. The S and F sounds are so badly blown out, it makes me physically nauseous to play this game.
I checked the game few hours ago, desparte hope inside me that what i was experienced 3weeks ago cant have been this horrible and is now magically ok. I was wrong. Every step in snow was" no, stop lying to yourself, no. This is still horrible!"
Than eivor says in echovoice something like "there iron clashing.near by" never heard this clashing. Then the cutscene, so dull, muffled "iron clashing" i never heard before. Our vikingfriend speaks quieter than eivor, eivors louder voice is like from another dimension with the echoeffect.
I had enough.......
No improvement after title update. Steps too loud, background music too quiet, echoed conversations. All out of balance. And Ubisoft still won't even acknowledge that there is sound issue. No one responded to my support ticket.
