This quest in Cent, The Abbot's Gambit, is bugged for me at the moment. It's not giving a dialogue option when trying to talk to the people to find out where the emissary is. Is there a work around or should I try to travel out then back in?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@lm0101998 Hi LM0101998 and Willmcmahon100! I'm very sorry to hear about this bug you've both encountered. Have either of you tried to reload your save to see if that resolves this issue?

there's a mission where you have to go talk to the bard under the bridge. but I tried talking to him and he started walking around the map. can't go forward with the quest. loading previous saved don't help too. almost up to 33hrs of play can't restart from the beginning. is there a way restart the entire quest line?

On the mission 'The Abbot's Gambit' you seemingly have to wake a drunkard up so that you can talk to him. So I pick him up and throw him in the river, just as you are told to do a mission earlier to wake up another drunk person. He proceeds to stand up and leave with no button prompt to talk to him at all. Normally when I experience a glitch to do with a npc I travel to Ravensthorpe and back and It resets everything but this however doesn't. I then load a previous auto-save and low and behold it doesn't work. It loads a different save, an auto-save made after the bug occurred. I load several more to no luck, they all now load the most recent auto-save made after this bug. I can no longer proceed with the main storyline.
    I am playing on PC.

During this questline I dropped NPC in water, bard proceeded to swim across lake and now won't talk to me. He seems to settled into a life of labor in the monastery next to river. I've tried going to a new sync point, switching quests and fast traveling, restarting game, uninstalling and reinstalling game... after 55 hours of gameplay am I just stuck with a completely broken game?

Please help me figure out what I'm supposed to do... starting a new game is absolutely not the answer/fix I'm looking to hear.

Talked to Basim and the Abbot, the quest title appeared on the HUD with no additional details below. I talked to the abbot again to figure out where to go. Went to the Tonnbridge Inn to find out where the messenger was, dialogue options appeared next to characters but when I spoke to them, they told me to go away. Restarted the game and still no luck.

Same here. I got to the stage where i had finished talking with Basim and the Abbot, decided to save and come back to it the next day, and when i returned there was no quest marker so i had to find the inn unaided. Once i found the inn there were lots of people with speech bubbles above their heads but none of them will talk to me and i see no way to progress this quest.

I've encountered a lot of bugs in this game but this is the first i would consider game breaking as to get to this point in the game you'd have to had invested a heck of a lot of time and restarting from scratch just ain't gonna be appealin', might as well drop the game entirely.

I killed the saxon soldier after threatening him and softlocked progress on this quest. Tried a number of things to try and fix this and in the process of doing so lost access to the save file before killing the soldier.

Had a similar problem on Odyssey.

@yarpyy revert to a save before questioning people and make sure you don't kill or threaten the saxon soldier in the house. I got softlocked and lost my save, good luck.
