@shawn10062007 Hello! It is not possible to restart the mission but we can try to find another solution.

You can try fast travelling to a different location then come back, to see if that works.

If the issue persists, please provide an image presenting the issue you face.

@ubi-swaggins is there any word on a patch for this as I've been waiting on a response after emailing in about this bug for 3 days. I've got nearly 60 hours played now and am not going to restart the game. I've tried every fix I can find online and absolutely nothing works meaning I can't progress the story.

Here is a video showing the issue of no prompt to be able to speak with Bard.

Initially i was able to drop him in the water to wake him up but since then he just walked off and into the village with no prompt to activate and remains in the village.

I had the same issues I had to load 3 or 4 different saves and try different things. The things I did different was
-didnt raid Tonbridge monastery (dont think that's it)
- the guy in the stables i paid instead of him calling thr guards.
- After that I went woke him on the opposite of thr River. And he spoke to me. which one did the trick im not sure. Hope this helps.

@lm0101998 please fix. 40 hours, clearly made a profile out of hate.

I have seen a couple other people have had this issue, but i am 40+ hours into the game and the bard won't speak to me. Tried throwing him in the water, he ran away.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Reverting save, but spent to much time trying to fix the bug all my saves are for the same mission.
Killing civilians.
Completed the order quest up to the point that i cant do anymore until i do this mission.
Cleared out the fortress where the emissary is supposed to be but he is not there.
It was a fun story, but i can't move forward until fixed

I have experienced this as well (Xbox Series X). None of the recommendations here have helped: reloading an old save, tried playing other missions and coming back, meditation, went to Vinland and back, killed civilians to desynchronize, etc. We're over 40 hours into the game and now have to stop playing as this has prevented us from advancing the main plot line.

Hoping Ubisoft can put out an emergency patch targeting this issue, like others I ponied up for the "Ultimate Edition" on launch day and bugs are to be expected and tolerated, but not one that critically breaks the main plot line thus preventing you from continuing on in the game at all.

the abbots gambit i can't progress the story i threw bard in water to sober him up now he walks away from me and I cannot speak to him. I tried everything so I skipped it and completed the other regions story now im stuck back here again cause story can't progress any fixes or updates on this? ive seen a few people online have the same problem

Hi there, i play AC Valhalla on ps5 and have got upto the mission "the abbot's gambit" and when i go to talk to the bard there is no option to do so... rending my 50+ hour game unable to move forward... is there a fix or something to help?

I sincerly hope that the Dev. Team will fix this bug.
They could script in a check that when You enable the quest, checks for the message in inventory. Resets and thus allow You to loot the message after stealing / and or assassinate to get it.
I have stopped playing the game any futher since this is the last step in order to progress in the game.
So i Really hope for a Fix

I tried raiding the monastery to see if that would work and nothing. I meditated numerous times and nothing. I saved and reloaded and still can't talk to him. He just walks around. I cannot progress further in Cent without being able to talk to the bard. Is anyone else having this same issue? If so, how can I fix it? Thank you in advance.

@blurredexistent I had the very same problem as you. But then i tried to reboot the game while i was standing just outside the inn and the problem was gone. Perhaps i was just lucky.
