So for the third time I have logged into AC Valhalla and found my character in a location he was not in when I logged off. In fact he was roughly 1 hour of game time backwards from where I left off. To provide background of my play:

I manually save the game after every new armor item pick up.
I manually save the game after every new/upgrade ability pick up.
I manually save the game after every story update.
I manually save the game after I am done for my play session.
I have both overwritten and written brand new save game files.

As you can see, having been a long time RPG player, I save often. OFTEN.

Yet, today during a quick lunch break I log in at home to complete the daily contract missions to find my character not in Ravensthorpe where I left it but down in Cent off the point of the coast where you have to find the Emissary for the Bishop in the Cent quest line. (The castle/keep on the bluff with the cave system at water level.). I was standing there on my boat with every collectable item in that area marked on my map. The problem is, I completed that quest, turned it in and was on the next step already. I had collected all of the collectibles at that location as well as the mysteries, and collectables along the coast all the way to the quick travel port location to the west. (Which is where you turn in the quest to the bishop about the emissary.). Basically, I was reset back more than an hour of game time.

When I go look at my save game files the top/last 5 game files all show "Now" for the save file information. Now as in the exact time I booted up AC Valhalla. The game not only pushes me back an hour but overwrites my last 4 save game files with this very moment in time so I cannot even try and load up a previous save.

In decades of game playing on PC and consoles I have had files corrupt but I have never had a game overwrite existing local save games on any system resetting me back hours of game play. I find this to have have happened once was bad enough but now this is the third time and all three times have had the same result. Five saved games all showing the date and timestamp of when I booted up AC Valhalla.

When you are a semi casual player like myself who "might" get on 2 times a week for an hour or so this is essentially losing nearly a weeks worth of progress and when it happens I growl, throw my hands up in disgust and I walk away because I don't even want to repeat the effort all over again.

If anyone has seen this and has a workaround that I have been unable to find in order to stop this from happening please let me know. If you are a Ubisoft support person please advise me of what info you need to look further into this.

I play on an XBOX series X
I have Ubisoft Connect connected to my account on Xbox
I have other Ubisoft games that do not do this.
