Although we are getting river raids, it is still going to be some rinse repeat content no doubt.
What annoys me most is once you complete England & Norway that is it. No chests respawn, none of the raid locations replenish the loot, none of the areas restock. Nothing new happens, the world is just dead. Aside from killing a few bands of soldiers for tungsten ingots there is literally nothing to do. NPCs repeat the same lines, no one really acknowledges who you are...Its all very dead for a sandbox style game.

I hope the new update fixes some of that, but it seems like the raids are taking place elsewhere, so what will become of England ?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@brucehillracing It is disappointing, especially when you see how much you can do in Odyssey. Hopefully, Valhalla highlights the problems in having two teams on the same franchise, with Team A (Origins) essentially ignoring everything Team B (Odyssey) did better.

@wildhunt in theory it's fine to have several teams to ensure new games come out regularly and to bring fresh, new ideas keeping a series dynamic ... but when one team completely ignores the progress other made and only listens to complaints about the other team's game, it's basically a scenario of 1 step forward, 2 steps back. The only thing I like about Ubi Montreal's approach in this respect is their love for cats xD

@kreutzgang The system can work, just look at Odyssey, it improved on Origins in almost every single way imo. Valhalla is a major step back and not just in things to do, it is missing most of the quality of life improvements found in Odyssey.

@wildhunt yup. It really comes across as one team being bitter about the other, no doubt egged on by those people who consider themselves "true" AC fans who refuse to spot this.

once again it all goes back to the core problem which is: there is no random loot, just fixed sets which in of itself make the endgame boring AF.
There is also no way to tinker around with various builds, cos everyone has dumped all 400 skill points into the tree

Free advice for Ubi — make the last DLC for this game about the Fall of Ravensthorpe. Give us some apocalyptic Ragnarok stuff.

All your former allied territories slowly turn against you. Use the allegiance map to plot assassinations, counter sieges.

Implement a justice system where killing civilians or looting monasteries earns you bad karma. Get enough and the offended territory sends rival merc Vikings to raid your village.

They end up burning down Gunnars forge, players gonna have to farm resources to rebuild. Open world gameplay loop there.

Keep the cutscenes and story minimal, focus on combat and stealth — these are probably the two strongest things going for the game. Don’t gate this stuff behind a narrative, have the world react to what the player is doing.

There’s a lot of stuff they could eventually put into this game, but right now agree it does feel pretty empty.

combat is super repetitive and boring.

i only have to use light attacks to kill everything, i play on drengr setting but its super easy.

No point in using any abilities.
What really kills it for are the super slowmo finisher moves that you cant toggle off.

team A made Origins, Black Flag, Unity, AC2 and Valhalla, among others. They definitely know what they are doing. Odyssey team is now focusing on Fenyx Rising.

I kinda like the finishers but agree that there’s something wonky with the combat balance.

Like...by mid game combat becomes pretty trivial. There’s no real threats. Only had like 5 rations and upgraded Raven Gear (maybe mixed with Thor’s and some hammers). Finished the game with that...didn’t even bother with farming all the other noise.

One of the daughters had me worried at one point. But yeah, agree something going on with the scaling or skill point caps.

Stealth isn’t too bad (it’s not great either), but you’re never really forced into it since it’s faster to just curb stomp everyone
