I've seen several NPC's laying as if they are dead - some you can loot and then they sorta "pop" into rag-doll and die (make a sound and bleed etc.) - same if you shoot them with an arrow. I would guess they should have spawned in alive, but somehow they seem to have a "dead status" or something???

Specifically at Kjotves fortress after you defete him (before leaving to england) - a lot of NPC's laying around, but seems like they should have been alive and manning the fortress (if you loot them they die again)??? Have seen this a few other places in england as well???

    Hi Vikings!

We have not received any reports of this issue for quite sometime. However, after thorough investigation the development team has confirmed that they are unable to continue looking into a potential fix for this particular issue as they must focus on issues that have a comparatively higher impact on the gameplay experience.

I understand that this is not the outcome you were hoping for and can only apologise.

As the issue will no longer be investigated, I will now lock this thread and mark it as resolved.

All my raider crew except "dag" are always dead, except when actuallly rowing but when you raid they die as soon as they get out of the boat. At Ravensthorpe they lie Dead in their own blood on the docks. Can handle this glitch .... however ....

The 3 people that I rescue with Soma in the Alliance quests are also dead when I go to rescue them. No story starts, no cutscenes, nothing.. they are simply dead. I have also found this in the events when the "event" target/person is also dead.

This is the 3rd restarted game including reinstalls (over 36 hrs) .... any ideas ?

    Hi all,

I have a problem at my settlement level 4 : a lot of my NPC's seems to be dead (Reda, all my Vikings next to my boat, young boy at the fishing hut, ...). They appears like ragdolls and therefore I cannot interact with them. This prevents me for going forward with Reda's quests, all the fishing quests and more important, I cannot do raids anymore as all my vikings are dead.

It seems that this problem appears after the Rued's raid on Ravensthorpe (spoiler). I have tried all the solutions listed on the AC Valhalla's new forum (leave the Animus and comeback, travel to Asguard and back, sleep in my bed, solve all the local quests in the settlement, ...). I have noticed the problem too late so I was not able to revert to an earlier save. Now, I am really stuck without the help of the developpers.

I was expecting a lot from the 1.1.0 Title Update but unfortunately, the bug was not solved. Therefore, I have opened a case (#13592788) with the upload of the following screenshots and my last save.

I have exactly the same problem. Mainly at my settlement where Reda, all my Vikings and the young boy at the fisherman hut are dead and appear like ragdolls. I was not able to apply any suggested solutions and revert to an earlier correct save.

I really hope they will fix the problem as this is really annoying and prevent yourself from going forward in the game.

I attempted to fast travel to Ravensthrope and got a blue screen crash. So, I closed the application and restarted. When I restarted I was in Ravensthorpe. When I walked to the Yule area all 10 of the Brawl npcs were actively fighting and I couldn’t see the quest markers or interact with the quest giver npcs. I assumed it was a surprise/bonus event so I killed all the brawlers. Nothing happened. So I attempted to fast travel away and back. Each time I was back in Ravensthorpe but could not move from the place I spawned.

A reload from a previous save seemed to correct all these issues.

No, I cannot provide videos or screenshots, since it already happened and has “corrected” itself.

These bugs are getting hard to deal with.

Edit- Nope, I was wrong. The brawlers are still dead, so when I attempt to do the event the first competitor falls over and I am stuck, unable to move, in the ring with a dead body...

Update - I had to reload a save from about 30 minutes before the incident to make it go away.

I did make a separate save with all the npcs dead on the ground, so I may be able to get screen shots.

There needs to be an update to refresh NPC lives. I have invested more than enough time in the game already to call it quits if this bug cannot be fixed.

Re: [Dead NPC at my settlement (Reda / Vikings / Fisherman)](/topic/88926/dead-npc-at-my-settlement-reda-vikings-fisherman)

This started at the Yule fest, so i assumed it had something to do with that update, but now that is over and Reda is still dead ?
I finished the main story and have taken my sweet time, it is otherwise awesome game. I have about 180 hours in it, but this basicly kills any reason to play it again.

I had this issue start during the Yule event when Alwin and some radial quest wolves spawned in dead. This meant that I couldn't start the Case of the Missing Ale quest.

This has gotten worse now that the new 1.11 patch has dropped - my Jomsviking, a couple other members of my raid crew, Reda, all of Ravensholme's children and some unnamed NPCs have all spawned in dead. My quartermaster also spawns in asleep. I haven't done a full head count yet because, quite frankly, Reda being dead was bad enough. Reloading a save doesn't help and I'm almost certainly going to end up starting a new game to address this. It might sound like it, but this isn't limited to Ravensholme - that's just where it's most noticeable.

    Hello all!

I've merged a few threads together into one singular thread regarding settlement NPCs (such as Reda) spawning into the world dead. If only your Raiding crew is spawning in dead, please can you check out this alternative thread instead. Thanks!

I'd like to collect some more information about this so we can submit a report to the development team for further investigation.

If you're affected by this issue, please can you provide us with the following information:

    • Which NPCs specifically are spawning in dead
    • When did you first notice this? Please be exact as possible (such as after with quest, or after a specific update)
    • Has fast-travelling/loading an earlier save/resetting the game helped to resolve this?

Additionally, please can you share images that show the NPCs spawned into the world dead. Thanks already to @jpnaquet for posting some images of this.
If you play the game on PC/PS4, we would appreciate collecting your save files as part of the investigation. Please can you open a support ticket and submit your save file for investigation. Once you've done this, please can you share your ticket number within the thread? This way, we can ensure the information is added to the report.

    Thanks all! 😊

@ubi-borealis For me it seems to have started at the smiths wedding, as the yule competitions were at the same time, I went to a walk with my brothers wife, and when i returned half of the guests were dead. For some reason, Reda seems to have been one of them, as i now can not find him anywhere. No, he is not at his shop. I chatted with support today, but have no ticket number yet. But hopefully , this information might be a clue, apart from sometimes spawning wierd after fast travel, i had very few bugs with this game, until the yule thing started. A couple of times i starte to fistfight in the yule competition, my opponent stopped moving, and i also froze. Alt F4, shut down was the only remedy.

@riah007 - Hello there! Thanks for sharing your own experience of the issue.

If possible, would you be able to provide us with a copy of your save file? If you have already been able to open a support ticket, please can you share your case number here so we can take a closer look? Thanks! 😊

I have the same issue and it has been reported back in December for the Good Men of Sherwood NPC.Several people have submitted tickets and showed pictures. No patch.Since this is a big issue and you can type in Good Men of Sherwood Glitch on Google and there are many threads and post....Can this issue be looked into on the Megathread posts?

Yeah since the Yuletide festival has ended, Reda for me is just dead in the settlement. Can't interact with him apart from being able to carry him. Seems to spawn randomly dead around the settlement. Also noticed 2 of my crew members spawn dead near the boat by the dock. Been like this and nothing I've tried has fixed it. Can't access the store to buy anything from Reda, so collecting Opals have been pointless. When I go on raids, 2 empty seats on the boat as those crew members are laying dead in my settlement.
All this started when the Yuletide festival ended! Before that everything was fine.

    Hi @Ubi-Borealis,

I have finished the game and all Yule festivals but I still have the problem at Ravensthorpe. All the NPC are spawning dead, especially my boat crew (as mentionned earlier).

I have installed the 1.1.2 Title Update without any major change. I already opened a cas in December (Case #13592788). I have attached today my lastest save where you can easily spot the problem.

Stats about me : 157H of play, level 400

I hope you will be able to solve this.

    Hello there!

@purityistheway - This issue should have been resolved in TU 1.1.2. Are the Good Men of Sherwood still appearing as dead for you?

@Ducati9961975 - Thanks for reporting this. I've passed this report along to the development team for a closer look. Please note that we have a seperate thread for raiding crew spawning in dead, which you can check out here!

@jpnaquet - Thanks for submitting your saves! I've passed your report along to the development team as well.

    Thanks all! 😊
