After Pressing "A" No Controls - PC or XBOX Controller

After the latest patch, when I start the game, I get the normal splash screen. There it states to press "a" to continue. I press A and it goes to the main menu. At that point I lose the ability to use the controller. Nor does my mouse or keyboard respond (note - I can still alt tab out, and my controller works fine in other games).
Even if I disconnect my controller, the keyboard and mouse still do not work in the game. If I reconnect my controller, still nothing.
I turned off the overlay with ubisoft connect, but that did not work.
I re-installed the game, that did not work.
I tried a different XBOX One controller. Same error.
The game is now completely un playable. It is so odd that it responds to the initial "a" press and then bamn! Nothing.
Any other thoughts or am I just SOL?

@masseyboy Hello there. Sorry to hear about this. I'd like to see if the troubleshooting steps found here help resolve this issue. I'm also curious if you're able to get past the launch screen then get in-game by using just mouse and keyboard, then perhaps play with controller after getting in-game?

@ubiwan This PC meets the specs. AMD Ryzen 3700X 16GB RAM, NVidia RTX 3070, windows 10 home 64 bit. NVIDIA Driver - 461.40 WHQL
No I cannot enter the game at all. It does not recognize my xbox One wired controller, nor will it recognize keyboard inputs. (Razer Black Widow) It does not allow my mouse to move at all. It only allows me to press A from the splash screen, so I know it initially recognizes my controller.
I tried reinstalling the game, that did not help. I cannot get into the game to even adjust the settings. Is there a settings .ini that I can edit to help? I made sure no background applications are running, and I have been running the game with admin rights.
I will try reinstalling ubiconnect. That seems to be the only thing from your link I have not attempted.

Re-installing Ubisoft Connect did not work either. I am at a loss. This an issue with Ryzen cpus? Other games working well, including legion and ACO.

@ubiwan You can close this. I was only able to get it to work by downloading and installing STEAM. I then added it as a non STEAM game after creating a steam account, and then enabled the controller within STEAM for that game. This fixed the problem, but it is very odd and indicates a major problem with ubisoft connect that should be addressed.
