So fishing is just another activity thats to be meant as a time sink. A massive at that.

Not only does it take quite some effort to even get 1 fish (50-100 space smashes is pretty common), in addition to that the line just breaks for no reason, adding further to the frustration.

Then also fish constantly move away from your shadow or something. So once you have spotted some fish after one throw of the line, all the fish are gone. Making fishing even further frustrating.
In every area there always multiple different fish sorts including small, regular and big ones. So getting the ones you need is already plenty hard.

But the fact that they all move away after even 1 throw is seriously a bad design. Then i have to row in a boat which is another pain as that is a total bug fest. When ever i Press E to start moving a small boat Eivor just grabs his bow instead
Then when i finally am in a good spot once more i have to press C in order to start fishing, but due to my movement most fish are once more gone. Then pressing N doesnt give me my fishing line right away, no i have to literally press N several times before i can cast a line.

So i ask you ubiosft, where is the fun in all this. Some simplification for fishing would be appreciated. If at least the fish didnt kept moving away, then it still a challenge enough for all the above reasons.

Fishing is just another thing in this game I never really bothered with. It's alright on and off, but no way would I farm it. When I did it, I moved around the shore though for new spots instead of using a boat. Another thing that springs to mind here is that Odin's Sight really could use keeping the fish highlighted for longer. You have to spam it to keep track of where the fish are and sometimes a fish will just swim around your line forever without biting. It's basically easier to just shoot them with arrows xD

yes, and prior to last patch fish at least somewhat stayed group up. now when i am standing along the shore of an boat and i am surrounded by lots of fish after i cast my line they all swim away.
So you have to constantly move, unless your fishing at a small lake and the fish cant go anywhere. Thats fine for certain fish, but once thats done, you need to go to a river or oceans for the remainder of the fish.

Found a good place for sturgeon yesterday, but yeah 1cast and all the fish are gone

@asgardian02 I dunno. I had the issue with the fish swimming away before the last patch. Maybe they plan on adding Helix stuff to make fishing easier? Honestly I'd have paid to avoid the anomalies lmao.

i wont pay extra for that stuff, havent purchased the season pass either.

If its more of the same stuff ill refrain from buying it, and if ill wait till everything is released.

i hate the feeding of tiny bits of content in odyssey.

@asgardian02 Unless these river raids are super engaging, I will most likely leave it now until everything is released then replay the entire thing, but I still won't bother with the anomalies or the drinking competitions.

make ai smarter, when you attack an elite big guy, rest of them stand frozen and watch...
the slowmo finishers need to go
your crew cant die, so they are just cannonfodder while you open up chests...

iwonder will enemies finally start dropping usefull stuff instead of flowers. If i ts just 3 maps with more useless chests and annoying puzzles...

not only is fishing frustrating but it lacks any sense to bother with it....what do you get? A boat you can buy in the store, minor runes ,ingots which are far easier to get out in the world, and as a final prize a swordfish which you still can't get because large flatfish and mackeral are still broken. And since 3 patches have come out it's obvious they aren't interested in fixing it,.So very simply what is the point?

@asgardian02 To successfully land your fish:
Don't let the fish get behind you. Do not fish from a pier.
Best fish from a little bay, a step landwards from the shore.
Line breaks when fish gets close. Fish gets landed when it touches the shore. This way this happens before it gets close enough to break free.
This way I hardly lose fish, even big ones.
Never use wasd (I have no idea what that is supposed to do), just mash your space.

I enjoy it and find it relaxing. And it's an easy way to restock rations if you used some up.

@asgardian02 Before today I never caught a single sturgeon. But today I caught three of them, so finally I have the fishing achievement. But it is slow going...

@asgardian02 I totally agree with you. hate fishing, even bought a new mouse and found it easier but:
find a spot, Odin view is full of fishes, start fishing and .... all fishes are gone!!!!
Wish devs will fix this very soon!!!

Wrong, at least if "arrow fishing" means shooting them with the bow.

I restarted the whole game after the new patch, so I'm fairly early into England. Just a few hours ago, I did that event near the settlement, where you need to bring 10 small bullhead, I think the name is. Googled where to find them, went there and used Odin's sight to locate them.

There was a couple of groups of fish. I shot one of them and all the others swam off. Got the fish, then moved just a few meters down the river, and they reappeared. Repeated till I had enough.

Shot all 10 fishes with the bow, and it took maybe 5 mins.

Without them all swimming away catching the right fish is still plenty of a pain. so why did they even nerf this feature further down the ground

You can still spear fish (on Xbox One at least..) if you're quick enough and are able to herd the fish into a dead end or narrow pass (the moat around Norwich is perfect), and if you have Gungnir, the extra range helps.

Im more interested in when they are going to fix the glitch where ocean fish either dont spawn or vanish within seconds of you fast travelling to the seaside and never return, and when they are going to add in the missing fish!! I want my swordfish achievement!

i want it too, but currently still need many fish on the list and its just not worth my time and effort if whenever i am at a good spot, they all swim away after just 1 throw of the line
