Ever since I added 2-factor authentication to my account yesterday, I've been receiving this error every time I try to launch AC Valhalla (not sure about other ubisoft games, haven't tried them yet bc I'm only playing ACV right now). I read a few other threads and posts at various forums and social media platforms but none of the suggestions have helped me. I tried deleting the x.spool files in AppData, this worked but then when I launched ACV and tried to loud a game, none of the cloud saves could be used, so I restored those files back to their original location. Then I tried to clear the cache directory in .\Ubisoft Game Launcher\cache .. this didnt help either, I got the same error on launch after signing into Connect and starting the game again. So, I really don't know where to go from here. I don't know what consequences there are if I keep playing but none of the achievements are being synced.. I suspect it will not credit my profile for things I complete in Valhalla. What should I do? Thanks for the help
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Running 2-factor here and don't have that issue. Looked at fire wall?
Achievements are retroactive, if you get a new one unlocked that you did not before, then all you unlocked before register.
@jandraelune yea idk.. it could just be coincidence, may not be related. But the issue started right around the time that I added 2FA.
So what ur saying is I shouldnt worry about not getting credit for what I do? As soon as it is resolved it will retroactively update any that arent on the profile?
Any recommendations on how to fix the issue? (beyond the 2 things ive tried so far.. launcher cache and spool files)
..although, I guess it was also around the same time as the recent update.. so maybe that has something to do with it..
I am having the same issue where my achievements are not syncing any more when I opened up Valhalla today... Very odd.
Like the poster above me, today I get the same error, "Failed to synchronize achievements"
My window pop-up doesn't say Valhalla. Just the exact text I showed.
I've NEVER enable 2 factor authentication.
Only odd thing for me is that I've played everyday for many weeks.
Yesterday was the 1st day in a long time that I didn't play.
Today, "Failed to synchronize achievements"
Inserted image below, what it looks like for me. Happens long long after starting.
The 1st time it loaded today, unusually, it required access to make changes on my computer many times, requiring me to scan my finger print.
I never have to scan my fingerprint, except to run the game.
This time, I had to give the game authorization at least 3-4 times to make changes on my computer.
Not sure if it made a difference, but for me, the game is loaded on a 2nd account on my PC, not the primary.
I have the same issue. I tried flushing DNS and reinstalling Ubisoft Connect but nothing helped.
Having same issue. Have played 180+ hrs and never had any problems until this "Failed to synchronize achievements" today.
Didnt change anything either. Its a mystery and when its solved there will be 5 opal for the achievement
@the_real_dna - I'm having the same prob today (without 2-step). Tbh, this game has been buggy as hell from the day I started playing - just a different issue every other day. The total lack of any level of support of feedback from Ubi is evident from the lack of input here on this issue. I really regret going with a subscription plus buying the Gold Ed.
Same problem here using an nvidia shield
Can't launch the game at all
Maybe this is happening to me. I just updated game today after a long time of not playing it. I normally have Cloud stuff disabled in Uplay b/c I don't like using it. But now I can't even boot up the damn game. The game automatically moves to Background process and stays at 19MB of memory usage.
I had this same problem (failure to sync, game wouldn't start). I fixed it by setting Ubisoft Connect to Offline mode, then setting it right back to Online mode. That fixed both the syncing and the game not starting for me.
I'm the one who posted the picture above,
It's now working fine the last 2-3 loads.
Hey everyone! I am so sorry for my late reply, but I am happy to hear that this issue has resolved for most of you! If anyone else continues to experience a 'Failed to synchronize achievements' error when launching your game, please try setting Ubisoft Connect to 'Offline' and then back 'Online' to re-sync your achievements. Then try launching Valhalla again. If the error persists, please also try running Ubisoft Connect as administrator.
However, if the error continues after trying the suggestions above, you may need to un-install and re-install Ubisoft Connect with our guide here. Please make sure to back up your save files before un-installing Ubisoft Connect. Instructions are detailed in the site provided.
@ubikobold Thanks a bunch brother!! That did the job for me I hope I can get back the "missed" achievements but regardless, thanks for your help mate. Cheers!!
