Game Crashes, Lose hours of gameplay

This has happened to me twice now. I play on the xbox one and will be playing when the screen goes completely black and sends me to the xbox home screen. I start the game up again and have lost several hours of gameplay and my manual saves have also been deleted. The first time, I lost several hours I had been playing in one day. This time, I lost two days worth of game play (which amounted to probably 7 hours).
I noticed this time that when trying to play, the game said I wasn't connected to online servers. However, I do not understand how this would be the cause of me losing about 8 manual saves.
Any help will be appreciated (especially if I can get the lost hours back). -
@schronceeeeeeee Hey there. I'm really sorry to hear about your lost data. I completely get how this can be disheartening. While our options are limited in regards to assisting with lost save data, especially for consoles. With that said, I'd like to see if we can tackle these crashes, to avoid any similar situations in the future. To start, please give the troubleshooting steps found here a try!
