Have started this event/mystery, follow the Man after speaking to him To his third stop, but Pie thief doesn’t appear at his third stop. Indeed, The pie thief/kid appears to be dead? Have watched this completed on YouTube, and it seems the case that the Pie thief is dead. Have tried fast travelling out of Jorvik and back and start event again (Several times now), but always the same issue at the end.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hello there!
As we have had no further reports of this issue persisting in-game following the release of TU 1.2.2, we will now be locking this thread.
If you encounter any further trouble with "Silver Wind Elder," please don't hesitate to open up a new thread so we can take a closer look. When opening a new thread, please include as much information about the issue you're encountering as possible. Any images or videos that demonstrate the issue in-game are also helpful for further investigation.
Thanks!
Hey Roltel! I am sorry that you have not been able to continue with this event! Just in case, can you restore your licenses and then test your game again?
@ubikobold
Thanks for acknowledging and getting back. I’ve attempted to quit game and leave it overnight, till after the Yule Festival ended, and then tried your suggestion of restoring the licenses, but unfortunately neither worked. As before, basically the girl/pie thief I’m supposed to find is just a dead body in the spot where she’s meant to be. I’ve saved a screenshot of it, and a video, on my PS5, but i don’t know how i can post it here (or to anyone at Ubisoft).
This is most disappointing - I’ve been a huge AC fan for a long while and have achieved platinum trophies on nearly every title of the series. I’d be most upset to miss out on doing it for Valhalla because of a glitch in a single world event preventing me from getting the completionist trophy.
in AC Valhalla, in Jorvik, there is a side mission involving a pie thief (silver wind elder). The pie thief ended up getting killed by a lynx and now I can finish the mission. I tried loading an auto save and I tried refreshing by traveling to a new fast point. And I’ve exited the game and gone back in, but the girl is still dead. Anyway to fix this?
@brmerrell
Yes, I’ve got this exact same glitch (though in my case i don’t know how the pie thief got killed). You have my full sympathy. I’ve tried fast travelling in and out of the area to restart the event, logging in and out of the game, resetting my game licenses (suggested by Ubisoft when I also brought this up in the forums) and as a last resort deleting and re-installing the game - but all to no avail, the thief’s still just a dead body that can’t be roused and no way to complete the quest. I’m so annoyed as this will prevent me from getting full game completion. My only hope is that Ubi might add this to its known game bugs and fix it in an upcoming patch.
@brmerrell
just to add to that, it seems a huge oversight that the code would allow a quest npc to be killable and non-resettable. Really, really hope that notice this and fix it.
@ubikobold Here’s a pic of the dead npc I need to talk to to complete the Silver Wind Elder world event in Jorvik
Hello again Rotel! Sorry for my delay in getting back to you. Thanks for sending this image! I have forwarded this up to the Game team for them to further investigate. If you have anything else you would like to add, please let me know!
If anyone else sees this thread and is experiencing this same issue of the NPC (pie thief) being dead and unable to be interacted with, please create a ticket and provide your save files if on PC or PS4. If you are not on PC or PS4, please provide an image or video from your gameplay that shows this issue. You can post a video to YouTube as unlisted and then post the link here.
@ubikobold
Had my hopes up with the latest patch (1.1.1) that this many have been fixed. But still stuck on the same problem - that damned npc corpse just sits there, refusing to resurrect or respawn. Is there any word if this has made it op to the known issues list and whether it’s going to be fixed in a future patch?
@ubikobold could you advise how to submit a support ticket over this issue. I’ve gone to the support site, typed out my problem and added the pic, then when i hit submit, it tells me to select the various categories. Which i then do, but this then disables submit your request button, and only leaves the start a chat option (which informs me chat is currently closed, and which i don’t want to do anyway - i don’t believe this is a problem that can be solved with online troubleshooting, it’s a bug that’s needs to be patched). How can i just submit a simple ticket so i know it’s at least in the process???????
whenever I head over to the world event marker for this quest, I would either find the old man dead nearby or missing - not sure what the issue is here
@expertbus408969 Hey there! I apologize for the inconvenience or disappointment that this bug may have caused you. I would be glad to gather some additional information from you and report it to the team! First, are you able to load up a previous save where you hadn't started the mission yet to see if there were enemies in Jorvik prior to the world event? Second, would you be able to grab screenshots or a video exhibiting the exact problem you're experiencing? This would be incredibly helpful for the team's investigation on the issue!
I had my hopes up today’s patch might have fixed the issue, but alas, no luck. Any word if this is being worked on?
Hello there!
I apologise for the delayed update. The development team has reached out and would like some more information to assist with the investigation.
If you have been unable to proceed in "Silver Wind Elder" due to the pie thief being dead, please can you provide us with the following information:
@Roltel - Would you be able to provide us with this information?
Thanks!
@ubi-borealis Thanks for your reply ubi-borealis
Unfortunately, i don’t have a save file from before that point, which i now regret extremely. I’m sure it would have saved me a lot from the disappointment towards the game that the bug has caused me. But till that point, I’d had no such quest-breaking issues I’d had to deal with and grown complacent. That said, having learned my lesson from that bug, I’ve since created a save file for each new area of the game as I entered it. I’ve had no other problems though and have completed the game except for that one, damned world event!
On your second request, yes, there were indeed enemies in the Jorvik area prior to starting the event. Plenty of them! And in particular, i believe there were a nest of enemies quite close-by, in the market area, who needed to be engaged with as part of the area’s main quest line. I also seem to recall a caged wild animal - a Lynx - in the area, which I’d released to distract some of these enemies(black-marketeers) to help me clear them. I’ve long suspected they, or especially likely the lynx, may have played some part in slaughtering the young pie-thief.
Again, thanks for the reply. Glad to see some thought appears to be going into solving this problem.
Thank you with providing me with additional information about "Silver Wind Elder," @Roltel. The information about the lynx is particularly helpful, as I know some of the aggressive animals in-game can go a rogue and attack non-violent NPCs. I've passed your responses to the development team to see if this can help with the ongoing investigation.
If anyone else has been unable to proceed with "Silver Wind Elder" due to the pie thief being dead, please can you provide the following information:
If we require any additional information, we will reach out within this thread. Once we have any new updates from the investigation to share, these will be posted within the thread and News & Announcements forum too.
Thanks all!
I am having the same problem. I have tried loading a save prior to the mystery and loading and going to another area. Every time I try this mystery the thief is dead. There are enemies in the nearby Trade Depot but no others I have noticed.
@talion1 Sorry to hear you have the problem too. Annoying, isn’t it?
Surely it can’t be that hard for the coders to either a: make it so essential npcs can’t be killed, or b: if they do get killed, they at least respawn eventually (as any local enemies do). But I’m not a coder so i could be way off base. At least it’s nice to know they are at least looking into it.
@ubi-borealis I am having the same issue too. tried everything you suggested and hoping that the last two patches would have fixed this. i only need to do this mission for 100% completion
Hello there!
I apologise for the delayed update. The development team are still investigating the issue wherein the pie thief is dead in "Silver Wind Elder" further. Thank you for continuing to update this thread with your experiences. Once we have any new update to share from the investigation, these will be posted within this thread or in the News & Announcements forum.
If you have been unable to proceed with "Silver Wind Elder" due to the pie thief being dead, please can you provide the following information:
@talion1 - Thank you for taking the time to share your report with us. I've passed this along to the development team to be investigated further.
@mattk8 - I'm sorry to hear you've been affected by this issue as well. I checked your account but I can't see evidence of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla being played on this account. Can you let me know the username of the account you play Assassin's Creed: Valhalla on? We can then pass this report to the development team.
Thanks!
