Heys, I really like the idea of upgrading my settlement from being a tent city to being a more built up settlement, but there's a few things that leave it feeling more basic than it really deserves. Having the upgraded settlement title like village and such makes it feel like there should be more changed than just swapping a tent for a cookie cutter wooden building. Larger settlements should have something like lights at night, maybe some nicer paths than just the same dirt that's been there from the start. I know not a lot of towns had paved streets back then, but it would be great if larger settlements had a more cleared out and groomed main roads.
The farms are just buildings... I didn't see a single chicken in the fowl farm. There's what, a small plot of wheat at the grain farm. Where are the cows with the cattle farm? There's a building to increase your settlement's fortifications, but building the building doesn't change anything except for just the building. No fortifications. The roman guy talks about making it more roman when you build his museum thing, but nothing changes when you give him the artifacts. At least have some new statues or something, or clean up the columns when you add it.
If this is my home base, why is there no food to restock my rations except for berry bushes?
I would love to have the option to build a fletcher's house for unlimited restocks of arrows when I visit. That would be a quality building to have for a settlement of warriors. If I want to restock my consumables, I should be able to do it in my settlement, not Rollo's camp.
Please, let me pet the wolf once I complete that quest!!!

Sorry for the huge list of things I find wrong, but I really love the concept of improving my settlement. I just find the current implementation leaning too heavily towards "basic feature checking a feature off the marketing list" and not as fleshed out as I would want from a game as hyped up as this.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

And the addition of even a simple palisade wall and a tower at an entrance or two, after building the wood shop, would make it feel like the settlement was actually being fortified. Would also make it feel like the settlement was a fitting home for the Raven Clan as their fame/gravitas progresses in the storyline. Maybe down the road with a patch or in the next AC game, there’s even missions to defend your settlement in order to encourage upgrading buildings/defenses even quicker.

i feel the same way, all the houses look basically the same. Why arent there for example several architectural plans to choose from.
The entire purpose from the story point out is for the ravenclan to have strong foothold in England, yet the village is placed within a forest.
It makes it very easy for enemies to sack the place, as there are no defensive mechanics in place.

Surely you would want a clear area around your settlement to see enemies coming which in turn would be a great place for grainfields and other stuff,
Some walls or even towers, or some wooden pikes placed in the ground would go a long way into helping defending the place.

also quite some buildings take multiple upgrades in order for you to reach settlement lvl6, which in fact takes quite some effort through raiding and such.
yet when you upgrade an building for a second or even third time it still looks exactly the same 😞
This doesnt feel rewarding at all. Why cant we change some colors or some other small stuff.

In odyssey we could do so much with transmogs, it just boggles my mind why didnt build upon that and expanded on that.

The food and arrows thing is bothering me as well. A bottomless arrow cache at the blacksmith would really help.
And why the tables at the Yule feast are laden with food but you can't pick up any - no idea. It would have been nice to stock up if you popped a ration in a brawl.

Anyway, the settlement is a really nice place and a true improvement to the Odyssey ship (which was a failure as a "home").

One thing that really gets to me about the settlement is how all the wandering NPCs take a short cut through the assassins' bureau lol, does that seem wrong to anyone else?
