Xbox One, keyboard input does not work.

When using keyboard and mouse on Xbox One, the keyboard functions do not work - but the mouse does.
Futhermore, the keyboard functions although say are changeable, when it comes to changing them it doesn't register you using the keyboard. I suspect due to the same issue as above.
I have tried researching online and it seems there is a similar bug on PC, in which to solve they must 'run as administrator', but this is no option one the Xbox.
*My game settings are set to Mouse and Keyboard so I am unsure as to why I am unable to use it?*
