Just felt like I needed to put that up there, but yes... horses can really run up hill on horseback

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    @docholiday421

They can also run through snow.

Sometimes they have a mind of their own and want to take you somewhere you don’t want to go too... which makes me have the ethical dilemma of killing my horse just so that the next one will do as it’s told.

Sometimes when riding through a town, which is obviously a 40kmph pedestrian zone, the horse doesn’t realise when you’re back on the highway and refuses to go back to full speed. This also usually results in another dead horse.

The only attack available from horseback is to either kick things (which doesn’t do much damage) or shoot arrows? No swords or axes? Seems historically accurate for the Vikings.

Alsoooooo, why is it that in every mission that requires a horse, some basic [censored] horse is waiting for you... Eivor has to whistle to get his/her horse to arrive. I didn’t pay good silver for a new horse, just to take Uber horses in every bloody mission!

Alssoooooooo, what’s the point of having stables all across England when they all have the exact same horses, and no new training options (which let’s be honest, every single player fully trained their horses within the first 5-10 hours of gameplay).

There aren’t even horse racing events to win like in previous games. Can bet on everything else, like drinking yourself to death (Eivor is literally drunk all the time now it’s Yule too), but you can’t bet on horse racing? Can’t win new saddles or equipment?

They reallllllly didn’t think this through. If horses are just for travelling, at least let them run uphill ffs.

    Side note:
I came up with my two of my own fun mini challenge for horse riding (borne out of in game anger). Good multiplayer fun with friends too.

These rules for the two mini challenges are fairly similar:

    • You have 5 minutes to earn as many points as possible.
    • The timer starts from your first attack.
    • You can start the challenge from any location of your choosing (but choose wisely).
    • Make sure you have sold or delivered all your animal parts/fish before starting each challenge.

    Rabbit season:

    • Once you have found your ideal location, with lots of rabbits, you’re ready to go.
    • You may not at any time during the 5 mins dismount from your horse.
    • You may use raven vision to target target your prey prior to the timer starting
    • You may use raven vision to find additional rabbit targets once your waypoints/targets are eliminated, but you are limited to the time constraints once the challenge begins.
    • Chase down your first target rabbit, and the timer begins from your first attack.
    • You may not attack with anything other than a kick.
    • 1 point is awarded per dead rabbit, and only once the target has been looted from horseback.

    — to increase the difficulty of this challenge, only calculate points per rabbit foot that is looted (because we all love the animal part drop rates)

    Fishing season:

    • once again, choose your location wisely.
    • you may use odins sight to guide you.
    • you may not dismount your horse during the time limit, or you will be disqualified.
    • you are limited by your quiver (which is definitely a challenge with the current quiver bugs).
    • you earn points for every looted fish.
    • 1 point for a small fish
    • 2 points for regular
    • 3 points for big
    • you may use your kick attack if you run out of arrows.

    — to up the difficulty of this challenge, only use kick as the attack.

Im sure these could be applied to other animals, or enemies. Like trying to shoot birds, but only when they are in flight, from horseback; which is a struggle even when you’re just trying to hunt them normally (and infuriating when you only get leather from killing 10 ravens consecutively!). Lol

    enjoy 🙂
