Oh, you’re good Ubisoft. Very good. Sneaking in XP boosters after the review period was over. Now we know why there’s such a tremendous gap between the second to last highest area and the last. I see you, Ubisoft. I see you.
 
To be clear, I actually love the levelling system in Valhalla and how it seemingly rewarded you 2 skill points for doing a bunch of mini activities and then loads of skill points for doing story missions. I also liked that a red skull enemy didn’t necessarily symbolise insta death, just meant it would be a challenge depending on the circumstances. It was the one time when the game actually felt rewarding and like it was not entirely wasting my time. I was also always over levelled anyway due to doing all the open world fluff so did not feel the grind in this aspect. However, I know many others who do not play games this way and only do open world side stuff after the story.
 
To those people I say this: No matter what happens PLEASE do not buy these booster packs. I know it’s tough because Ubisoft deliberately made the endgame a chore in order to frustrate you into buying them but you don’t have to do that. You can still achieve that endgame with your dignity (and coin pouch) intact. 

@animuslover I never by XP boosters, but I did buy the map pack. In Odyssey it was a worthwhile purchase, but once I unlocked the cartographer and found a few of the question mark guys in the world I regretted that purchase in Valhalla. No need to buy it at all because the game gives you all the tools to find everything; it may take a little longer, but it's in the game.

Ubisoft will be ubisoft. I just wait until the price drops, add the u points savings aswell to compensate for adding what I deem should be in the game = map pack.
I am also fedup with the MTX at any form or shape. Sadly, the player base don't seem to mind and excuse lots of horible practises game compagnies have standardised.
I gave up on societal habit changes and go for what I can do for myself. So, that makes I don't buy games day one, can't buy special editions anymore since préordering is out of the question.
Just look at the latest iteration of gaming debacles! One can blame the compagnies but if you scratch away the superficial veneer it really is a societal problem.

No matter in Odyssey or Valhalla, I didn't and don't intend to use real money to buy XP boosters, Helix credits, Animus store items, whatsoever. Like those above me said, I don't intend to support microtransaction.

Besides, as long as one plays carefully, that final area can be cleared under-levelled.

@jcar4327 Besides if you just play the game you quite easily get up to Max Level (Power) even before you enter Hamptonscire...

@bahutsauvage I think I was almost maxed on Mastery points before I even hit Hamptunscire.

Edit: Right now on my second play through I am 335 and just finishing up in Snotinghamscire. Still got like 4 - 5 areas before the end of the game.

@jcar4327 Purchasing any sort of xp booster or map pack is an admission to oneself of not enjoying the game, essentially paying more money not to actually play the game.

@animuslover XP booster maybe, but not so much with map packs. These days they hide a lot of stuff in places that people would not normally travel to. Opals in this game are just one example. They are all over the map in places that I would not go to unless there was a reason: quest, viewpoint, side mission. Some of them are on peaks that take quite a bit of time to climb and would be a waste to climb if there is nothing there. I mean even with the map pack it took around 180 hours to complete my first playthrough; would have been a bit longer without it.

Honestly it is more about the instant gratification issue that a lot of people have these days. I can also understand why some people buy xp boosters; it's not that they don't enjoy a game, but more about time constraints for a lot of people. If I didn't have a ton of free time to game I would probably buy the xp booster to get through the game in a reasonable amount of time based on my schedule. I, personally, am a completionist and that is why I usually buy the map packs; I hate to miss something in a game and map packs generally show you all the little hidden treasures. Definitely not because I don't enjoy playing, I actually quite enjoy trekking across the game map to collect all the goodies.

@animuslover I heard level scaling for enemies has been added is this true and as I am level 288 and have just finished Shropshire Arc is there any point doing side missions to level up?

I actually bought the XP Booster pack combo (the one for 1500 H) and glad I did. It's something I promised myself to do following playing Odyssey. I'm enjoying the game more so now being able to level up faster to take advantage of so doing without having to grind as much. I also bought one of the gear packs on offer (the Hel's Damnation pack...LOVE it) and one or two already upgraded weapons from the store that I wanted to get. I think it's a good idea for the store option considering what it offers for those who wish to so do and get some really nifty stuff.
