It's a bug with a windows feature called 'storage spaces' Right now the workaround is to move the game to your main OS drive or another drive that isn't managed with windows storage spaces. Originally I had this problem with it was installed on SSDs running under a RAID configuration that was managed with windows storage spaces but moving it to my main SSD allowed it to launch.

You can also move the .PCK files to a different drive and create links to them in the actual game folder. Read this thread for instructions

@kushkills2469 Wow, you don't support Storage spaces???? Its been in Windows since 8, I run all my games from a Storage space drive, even Division Two, that is such a mind blowing oversight that your company cannot code a game to work with Storage spaces.

FYI there is a workaround people are doing where they move some sound files in the game directory and create symlinks on their (C:) drive to resolve the problem, maybe get your tech people to have a look.

Many people use small fast ssd's for the OS and larger slower storage for files and games, and you recommend installing games on the same drive as the game launcher, so what if we install the launcher on the Storage space?

Yes move files from SSD to HDD worked for me.

Yes this needs to be fixed, and this does not work for everybody. Ubisoft needs to put an update out.

@epicjackson95 Yes I agree, there have been so many guides that have been uploaded by people on youtube, and these guides only work a small portion of the time. People have been getting ddl errors and when they reinstall these drives, it still does not fix this glitch. So many people have spent 60+ on this game and they are not even able to play it.

I only have one hard drive (a 2 TB SSD) so moving to a different drive isn't possible. Hopefully, Ubisoft will get this fixed. Both my husband and I purchased Ultimate Editions for our Alienware R11 PCs and we can't get passed the launch screen (just like others here). We've tried all the possible fixes.

@ubikoality If both of our drivers, ssd and hdd are linked to Microsoft/Windows, is there a plausible fix at this point in time?

@chiricahua11 Yes on my 2tb SanDisk Ultra 3D ssd the game wont start.
Maybe i installed the MFS 2020 on it?!

@godsmark I'm sorry it's happening to you. My husband just reinstalled the game and it's finally launching. Like I mentioned, we have identical PCs. Mine is taking painfully slow to download even though we're on the same internet. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everyone can get into the game soon.

@chiricahua11 Dont worry, on my 8 tb hdd the game start. Move the files manualy works without download.

Like many others I was unable to launch my game, and was stuck at the splash screen where nothing else would happen. I managed to fix this, and hope these steps help others:

Run a DXDiag and see if the drive you have the game installed on is listed as "Microsoft Storage Space Device"
if it is... that's likely your problem. Unfortunately I believe the only way of converting the drive to a "normal" drive is to format it... (this caused me lose all the games I had installed on my M.2 drive.. but hey they can always be reinstalled right???)

Here are the steps:

1. In your search bar type Manage Storage Spaces.. click on the app that appears
2. find your drive that you have the game installed in and click "delete storage space" (you may have to format the drive first in disk manager)
3. click "delete pool"
4. Go into disk management and find the now formatted drive and create a simple volume to allow it to be used again.
5. you should now be able to reinstall all your stuff, including Valhalla

hopefully this helps someone else having the splash screen issue.

yo ubisoft [censored]. very simple solution here. fix ur game OR GIVE ME A REFUND. Your game is stuck on logo it will not launch and every other game works fine. you guys have till tomorrow morning when I call my bank. zzz

@the_batcodn8 if its your first time loading the game it takes ages, i thougt the same, try waiting long could be longer if you have a bad PC

I was running into the same bug where it got stuck on the opening image of the logo but the game wouldn't run. However, I was able to get it running by uninstalling it and then installing it on my harddrive that my OS is on. Make sure it is on your primary hardrive that windows is running on.
