I've been reading that a lot of people are having problems either receiving the ability when completing the quest, or being able to get to the book in Lunden that grants the upgrade.
My question is... I have already accessed the book in Lunden and have the skill assigned, but haven't even reached the point in the story where I can access the quest to receive the wolf companion (I prefer to explore the world before progressing MSQ). Has anyone encountered a bug or glitch by doing it backwards- getting the skill before completing the quest? I don't want to progress the story and reach the quest, only to find out it won't complete because I already have the skill. Technically, completing the quest at this point should grant me the UPGRADE of the skill, but that's if it works as it should.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

I have to add to my own post...
Last night I completed the quest and didn't have any problems or bugs and received the upgraded ability upon completion of the quest. The only thing I found a bit wonky, and thankfully I read about it happening to others, is when you are approaching the settlement with the kids and wolf, the wolf suddenly took off up the hill away from us; I chased after it and then it just abruptly disappeared. I thought for sure it was going to glitch, but after slowly walking back to the kids, as we started heading back towards the settlement, the wolf suddenly came out of the woods and joined us. We finished the walk to the settlement and the quest completed and ability received. Yay!!
So does anyone else who has this ability feel that it's extremely lacking?!? They say in the description that level 2 of the ability will allow the wolf to stay and fight with you... what they don't say is that it will stay for only about 10/s and then run away! I summoned it to help me with a Zealot, and 10/s later the wolf was heading for the hills and I was one less adrenaline segment.
@adarklore You're very lucky the wolf came back in time. For those of us for whom it didn't, if the wolf runs off and vanishes, we didn't get credit for the skill. And Ubisoft still has not patched/fixed that.
A simple check "if quest completion, check if skill point granted." Might be a more complex since I found the later knowledge book by now and have attained Rank 1 in it, but it's stuck that way now and my save will never go higher unless Ubi actually does anything.
But yes, the skill itself does seem disappointing & lackluster (and could also stand to be buffed some, but that's trivial compared to all the actual bugs they have yet to fix.)
@wraithclaw I don't believe the wolf needs a damage buff, but a timer buff would definitely be better. It's nice to have something to draw aggro away for a bit- which is why in other games I always love to have 'pets' because they do the tanking and I DPS.
Funny though, Ubisoft seems more worried about fixing material exploits than fixing the bugs in the game. I constantly see various Youtube videos and exploits, and the very next patch it gets fixed... and yet persistent bugs do not. Go figure. It's a single player game Ubi, is it really that critical that exploits get fixed when it's a player's CHOICE to use them and only impacts them, nobody else?!?
This is what I'm trying to send to the Devs, but they arent making contact or support easy, even support cases arent working on their website.
Man's Best Friend Bug. After completing the 'A little Problem' quest I didn't achieve the mans best friend ability, I completed quest, named the wolf and had the wolf in my longhouse, but no ability, I read on forums that if the wolf bugs out and runs off before the end, which it did, it wont activate and they suggested redoing it, I however had already done too much to go back to redo the quest on an older save. I went to Londen and got the other half so I can call the wolf, but I am now forever unable to get level 2 of the ability until it is resolved at your end, I suggest making it so whoever has completed the quest gets that half of the ability(seems obvious), rather than tying it to a sprite making it back with the children, especially since it is bugged to run off right before you enter the village. If I hadn't checked forums, I wouldn't have even known the quest was supposed to give me this ability. It's disappointing and made me a little frustrated with the game, killing the immersion and experience for me currently, so please, if it is possible, fix it for everyone who's completed the quest retroactively in the next update. I guess I will know you've fixed it when I magically have level 2 mans best friend, lol. I'm sure I am not the only one who has had this issue, so hopefully you resolve it, as I was really loving the game until this happened. cheers.
