  • This is Actually A Solid and Brilliant Game, but its Let Down by the Sheer AMOUNT of Launch Problems...

I found a way to temporarily solve the frame rate issue by benchmarking twice before resuming my save every time I start the game, do that, and it's much smoother and playable until perhaps a certain fast travel or death messes it up again, and then I have to restart the game.

I have been staying away from the game until the achievements on PC get reinstated and the frame rate drop issue gets resolved but I caved earlier and gave it more of a try and I have to say I am impressed, especially with the mechanics and the open world once you get to England. I actually like the new dynamic quest system as opposed to Odyssey's 'errand boy' feeling where there was a side quest every 2 inches in the game world.

Just wanted to say game development must have been pretty difficult this year with COVID and I think the devs deserve a good Christmas without worrying about the understandable demands, here is hoping that especially with the new year these issues start to get sorted so that people can really give this game a good try because it is worth it.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@fudz4 can you elaborate on the kind of problems this game has? I want to get it for this Holiday but I should be waiting for a sale since I heard the game is a bugfest.

@unhappylawbro It would probably be easier to list the things that are not broken.

For me this is best AC game ever , so many different activities , mini puzzles , great story , I have 117 hours into it and still did not complete it but I think I am almost there.

Really love when game exceeds my expectations.

@unhappylawbro Sorry for the late reply, lots of problems have been fixed in the 1.04 patch but there is still a ton of side quests that can't be turned in properly and some even have problems with main quests which have stopped their progress entirely although that has not happened to me yet. Aside from this the biggest problem for me and lots of people is the memory leakage causing frames to drop to low levels at random points and you have to restart the game to fix it and do temporary fixes like benchmarking twice every time you load the game. Another problem for PC players is that Achievements are totally missing from the Ubisoft Connect system.

Check the mega thread to see all the problems they are investigating.

It's been some time since 1.04, I heard rumours that there was going to be another patch in mid-December, so here is hoping that a 1.05 comes out this week at somepoint.

@fudz4 1.1.0 is released today with a whole haycart of more improvements and fixes.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla - Title Update 1.1.0 | Ubisoft Forums

My first experience of Valhalla last month was a little choppy, I admit. It was frustrating to be running to the next objective only to have Eivor get stuck in the ground. Things (at least for me), got a lot better with patch 1.0.4 and will improve again with the new patch.

Cyberpunk 2077 has got off to a far rockier start, and I'm thankful that I didn't hold out for it to be released.

@thoughttwenty From what I hear about Cyberpunk it won't even play on XB1 or PS4. They are giving refunds to anyone who bought it for those consoles. And I've been lucky to have only had one major bug that I was able to just load a previous save and get past. I feel for those who have had game breakers and hopefully today's update will fix them for everyone.

@jcar4327 Yeah, things are particularly tough for those people who wanted, but didn't manage to get a next-gen console. You'd have hoped that they'd be able to buy the game, start it and then transfer to the new console when it became available. It's rough to hear of so many performance and other issues on the older consoles. I would be very frustrated as well.
